Aye, Palermo looks fantastic though, always wanted to go there. Dunno if there's much to do though, just looks nice.

Yeah, judging by the time I've spent in the south, it's awful outside of the centre of town. The north and Rome just economically chokes the south.

Sicily seems like a great place to visit if you can rent a car, judging from what I've read, seen on travel programmes and heard from my parents.

It is the South, but it is also a popular tourist destination with a well-developed tourism industry.

More of an island, than a city.

Yeah, sorry, meant for him to travel all around Sicily rather than go to and visit just one city. Thinking of planning on taking at least a two week holiday to Sicily after next summer cycling (if I save enough money of course).

Very expensive if you want to stay in the historic city itself and as someone else said earlier in the thread it's always clogged with tourists in the months you'd like to be there.

Imagine a massive field with a cow and some pigs in it.
That's basically Denmark.

Copenhagen is pretty nice.

My mother says that although she was there in the 80's so I think your word is based on more recent experiences.

Have you been there?

I'm kidding.
I've heard Copenhagen is very nice. It's kind of in the same league as Belguim or Holland I guess. A large city people go to for their holidays while the rest of the country gets on with life.
Really though you can't go too far wrong with any major city in west/central/northern Europe.

I was there in December. I enjoyed my time there despite the ongoing snowstorm.

You'll probably have a great time there if you go there in the summer.

There's actually a lot of tourism in Denmark outside of Copenhagen too, it's just that most of it is aimed either at families or more mature couples rather than young people.

I speak from experience on this as my parents love Denmark and as a result nearly every single family vacation we had growing up was spent there. I think I may have been at pretty much every single moderately interesting place Jutland has to offer.

Once I sort my debts out I'll go around the places I've not seen in Europe.

Yeah. Like Holland and Belguim.

Like most places, I'd say.

Young people tend to only go to beach/ski resorts or big cities with good nightlife, regardless of the country.

Yeah, me too. Have spent half a dozen summer holidays in Danish summerhouses.
