Bath City ease to victory over Hayes & Yeading

Bath City comfortably defeated Hayes & Yeading United at Twerton Park 2-0.

Hayes & Yeading United travelled to the historic town of Bath to visit a team without a win in 5 games in the league, but with an important FA Cup match coming up Martin made a few changes to his side that have had a strong start to this season. Bath City striker Powell had a great game today and he ran United ragged as they came out 2-0 winners.

Powell got his side off to a flyer when he scored the opening goal only 2 minutes into the match, it was a badly defended cross from Ball on the left hand side which floated perfectly to the head of Powell who was waiting to head home from close range. The next effort came the second goal with Powell once again finding plenty of space in the box from another cross this time from Simpson and was once again able to head the ball home.

In the second half there was very little chances as United seemed to move into a disaster prevention mode, but two chances did follow with the first on 67 minutes when Kalama had a chance with a header from a corner only to see it go over the bar, and then just before the end with a chance of consolation, Webb swiped at the ball and it went miles wide.

All in all this was actually a very poor match, United really did not put up a fight against a much better Bath City team on the night, but can United redeem themselves for next weekend when they have their 4th Round FA Cup Qualifier? But first they have a game at home against Chelmsford City.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "Terrible, simply terrible, we need to vastly improve for our next match!"

Bath City boss Lee Howells had this to say: "We played really strong today and this result moved us up to 10th in the league which was fantastic, but we need to keep our heads up and push on from here."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Cadmore (Legg 82), Pele, Kalama, Brathwaite, Cox (c), Williams (N'Diaye 61), Gregson, Webb, Hammond (Oyenuga 61), Cowell

Chelmsford City held on to a narrow victory away to Hayes & Yeading United.

Hayes & Yeading United have lost two games on the bounce for the first time this season after many missed chances are rued against Chelmsford City who managed to hold on to a 1-0 victory. Martin came into the game still resting a few players and Hall was dropped to the bench after a terrible match against Bath City.

Hayes & Yeading have proved vulnerable early in matches this season and for the second week running it has been costly, as the first effort in the match 9 minutes in presented the only goal of the match when poor defending off a corner allowed Haines to head the ball into the net with ease. 10 minutes later they had another go this time the header went just wide to the relief of keeper Beasant, making only his second outing since return from injury.

United got their first effort on goal in the 29th minute where Ekim picked up the ball on the edge of the area, unfortunately he missed to the left of the goal and it never really looked like troubling Chelmsford. In the second half on the 57th minute Ekim had another go this time coming much closer to the goal but it just missed the post to go out for a goal kick.

United's best chance came in the 65th minute when Webb found space in the box and forced a great save from the Chelmsford Keeper, unfortunately no one was there to follow up or it would of been an easy goal. United were wasteful infront of goal today, with 9 attempts to Chelmsford's 4, but there big game is this weekend which I am sure has been an ample distraction for the side.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "We actually played quite well today, we just need to be more effective infront of goal. We get plenty of chances we just don't put them away."

Chelmsford City boss Glenn Pennyfather had this to say: "We managed to hang on today which is what matters to me, we got a good early goal and managed to hold out United away from home, good performance today."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Beasant, Legg, Bygrave (Cadmore 64), Kalama, Wishart, N'Diaye, Cox (c), Ekim, Webb (Williams 79), Hammond (Oyenuga 79), Cowell

Bookings. Cox, Cowell

Chelmsford City Lineup (4-3-3). Searle, Hamilton, Miller (c), Haines, Angus, Church (Hudson 63), Bridges, McNamara, Cook, Vassell (Riza 45), Simmonds

Hayes & Yeading United have smashed their way into the FA Cup First Round Proper with victory over Braintree Town at Cressing Road Stadium

Looking to reach the FA Cup First Round Proper for only the second time in their history, United were put up against Braintree Town who are a division above them, and on the back of two defeats for United their fans feared a hammering at Cressing Road, but the fans who travelled were delighted to see their team perform well and strong and smash their way to victory 4-1.

After two poor performances in a row Martin needed a much improved start from his side against Braintree today, and they came out today looking very different to the side that had lost their last two matches, within 5 minutes they had a shot when Oyenuga struck wide. On 21 minutes Bentley found space in the area and pulled the trigger only to see it will saved by the keeper.

On 28 minutes Braintree got their first attempt when they found space, a cross came in and it was struck from close range and brought an absolutely fantastic save from Hall between the sticks, easily a save of the season for him so far. 34 minutes into the match Hammond found space to run between the defence and a well placed through ball from Brathwaite was inch perfect and allowed Hammond to stretch out and pass the ball under the approaching keeper to make it 1-0.

7 minutes later on the 41st minute another through ball found its way through the Braintree defence and this time around Webb who was well composed to take the ball around the corner and slot it home to make it 2-0. Then on the 44th minute a cross came in for Braintree that looked like it was going to be cleared, but a horrendous error from Bygrave saw him net an own goal which brought their opponents right back into the match at 2-1.

The second half was again riddled with plenty of attempts for both teams with the ball literally going end-to-end non stop, but as they tried to push Braintree found themselves vulnerable and United took advantage of this, on the 81st minute Oyenuga was on the edge of the area and had a pop at goal which was saved, he managed to pick up the rebound and smash it into the net to make it 3-1, and if that was not enough 5 minutes later a well placed corner from Williams found Gregson who headed the ball home to make it 4-1.

After their recent performances today was a great match for United, and they have made it into the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, which not only adds publicity but also desperately needed funds into the club, now they hope for a kind draw as they look to move forward and beat their best result of the First Round.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "The reaction as was seen by the players at the end of the match, it was fantastic today to bounce back after a rough 7 days, and now we look forward to the next match in the FA Cup."

Braintee Town boss Alan Devonshire had this to say: "We played well today, but it is always tough in the FA Cup, and as we pushed at the end we got a bit loose and they took full advantage, good luck to them as they progress."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Legg, Bygrave (c) (Cadmore 68), Kalama, Brathwaite, N'Diaye, Williams, Bentley (Gregson 68), Webb, Hammond, Oyenuga (Cowell 83)

Hayes & Yeading United earn a point against a Farnborough FC side that have started this season brightly.

After a great performance against Braintree Town, United came into this game with confidence they would be able to get something even though all the pundits doubted they would, and in-front of a slightly bigger crowd than usual they delivered by earning a point in a 0-0 match against 2nd placed Farnborough FC.

There was little in the way of chances in the match as United clearly moved to a defending setup and mentality in this match, looking to catch their opponents on the break. United got the first chance of the afternoon with Oyenuga getting a shot away but it was well saved by the keeper and parried away to safety. United then came as close as striking the crossbar moments later and no one was on hand to pick up the scraps when the ball fell loose in-front of goal.

Farnborough FC had a single attempt on goal in the first half, which fell to E.Hammond as he ran from the left side of the box but then tried to put hit foot through it a little to much and it went sailing over the bar. In the second half it was much of the same for United with Oyenuga getting a further two attempts on goal in the 59th and 75th minute, both of which forced fine saves from the keeper.

As was said earlier in this article there was very little in terms of chances in this match with United trying to slow the game and frustrate their opponents who would of been hoping for a win to keep up the pressure on 1st place Eastleigh, but after both teams struggled this weekend they have both lost places to their opponents.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "That was a good game after a tough FA Cup fixture, we wanted to avoid losing this match against tough opposition, and we did just that."

Farnborough FC boss Spencer Day had this to say: "We played alright today, if we had of one today with the other results around us we would of gone 1st, but unfortunately you don't win games if you don't make chances."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Legg (Cadmore 70), Bygrave (c), Kalama, Brathwaite, N'Diaye, Williams (Gregson 70), Bentley, Webb, Hammond (Cowell 89), Oyenuga

Hayes & Yeading United put on a great come back, only to see Salisbury score in the last minute to share the points.

Without a win in the last 3 league games United came into this match hoping they would be able to snatch the points against a Salisbury City side who have been playing at around the same ability as themselves. Salisbury City also without a win but in 5 matches were hoping today would break that poor run of form, and it looked very possible but in the second half United fought back and the game ended 3-3.

Salisbury City were the far better side in the first half, controlling the possession and the game, their first chance on goal came in the 9th minute when Sinclair found space on the right side of the box only to see his shot go just wide of the right post. 20 minutes into the match they got another chance this time it was a cross from the left side of the field which sweetly found the head of Collins who was able to head home to make it 1-0.

3 minutes later the ball was crossed into the box and the Salisbury player fell to the floor in front of Wishart, the penalty thought Wishart had brought the player down which caused shock and anger from the United players as replays showed Wishart never even touched the player. White stood up to the penalty and took it calmly into right right corner of the goal and made it 2-0.

In the second half United came out with a much more attacking mentality, their intentions were signaled when Oyenuga took the ball on his right boot on the left side of the box and smashed it into the back of the net to make the game 2-1. On the 52nd minute United were coming forward again on a break after a poor Salisbury attack, Oyenuga ran up the left wing and drilled the ball into the box which found the foot of Hammond who was able to come across the ball and half volley it into the net to make it 2-2.

The second half was mostly United and then 73 minutes into the match in what was almost an identical situation to the earlier goal Oyenuga found himself once again flying up the left wing and drilling the ball in, this time finding McLean who passed the ball into the net to score his first goal for the club and made it 2-3. A minute from time Salisbury City found themselves in space and crossed the ball in from the left flank and found the head of Sinclair who headed the ball and it somehow passed keeper Hall to make it 3-3.

The game was a good one for the neutral, but not a good result for both sides as they have been unable to break their run of results, but it leaves them firmly in the middle of the table with enough points between them and the relegation zone to not be concerned.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "That was a great game for the neutral, but not for me as my heart has only just returned to a normal rhythm, I am dissapointed we didn't hold on after that great comeback but I am happy we did not lose."

Salisbury boss Darrell Clarke had this to say: "We played very well in the second half, but in the second half we really did not show up, we were actually quite fortunate today in some areas but I think we played well enough to earn a point."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Legg, Bygrave (c), Kalama (Cadmore 68), Wishart, N'Diaye, Williams, Gregson, Webb, Hammond (McLean 68), Oyenuga
Subs not used. Beasant (GK), Cox, Bentley

October Awards Announced

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dKONtV58hIT4J6IVwtPzfQMAHXcvyuaUdjmmxwnp.jpg
October Roundup including Manager and Player of the Month Awards

The Manager of the Month for October has been awarded to Boreham Wood boss Ian Allinson, he has lead his team to three solid victories in the last month, his club have found themselves climbing 8 places in the last month from 15th to 7th. Player of the Month has been awarded to Billericay Towns young striker Alex Osborn, he has performed very well on loan to the side and has surprised fans with his fine performances with an average rating of 7.64 over 5 games.

As we move into November we look back on what has been exciting month of October for the Blue Square South, teams moving up and down all over the league, there is nothing to choose between the top 3 sides in the league who are all equal on points, they are Chelmsford City, Bromley and Eastleigh respectively, holding up the last two places are Farnborough FC and Truro City. At the wrong end of the table is Dorchester Town, Sutton United and Staines Town respectively

At this stage most of the places in the league are still very open for the taking, but a 13 point gap has risen between 5th and 20th place in the league, but otherwise the league remains very competitive.

The table as it stands today.

Two new signings to announce.

http://fm3.theoffside.com/files/2009/02/contract-signing-1.jpg
New Signings!

The club are delighted to announce two new additions to our club, after long and hard discussions between the board and the manager we have agreed to bring in two new people to help with the growth and future of the squad, due to our hard work in the FA Cup and the slightly improved finances as a result we are able to do this.

Firstly we would like to welcome our new coach Steve Eke to the side, Steve previously worked at Eastbourne Borough for almost 13 years before taking a break from football, we are delighted that we are able to bring Steve into the club as he fits the mold perfectly, he has been signed on until June 2014. Secondly we bring in a hot prospect for the future and one we have been watching for a while, young striker Stimson from Thurrock on a free transfer has also been signed on until June 2014, he is currently out with back injury but we look forward to seeing him compete for the first team.

Hayes & Yeading United played brilliantly at Kingfield Stadium to force a replay against Northampton Town.

United were making only their second appearance in the First Round Proper of the FA Cup against nPower League 2 side Northampton Town and went into the match as firm underdogs, however their performance across all areas of the pitch today was perfect, they played out a very solid 0-0 draw and now make their way to a replay at Sixfields Stadium on the 14th of November.

United came into this match quite defensive and hoping to jump on the counter, but they played brilliantly in the middle of the park which really slowed the game down for their opposition who sit 2 divisons above them in 9th place. As a result the first chance had to wait until the 15th minute when A.Nicholls got a chance out of the box and shot well wide of the right post, they then got a second chance on the 26th minute where again Nicholls found space in the area but could only send the ball flying into the back row of the stand.

In the second half there was again very little action, though this time both the main attempts came from United's camp, with the first on the 61st minute where McLean found himself in acres of space between the defenders and was one-on-one with the keeper but appeared to lose his nerve as he shot wide of the post. Then on the 86th minute United terrified the travelling Northampton Town fans when the ball was crossed in to Oyenuga who got in for a diving header but saw it glance wide.

Credit goes to United for their performance today, really punching above their weight and they handled it very well, the Northampton Town fans were really dissapointed with their teams performance as can be understood as they really should of run away with this match, but now we get to watch a replay where United must feel they could get something from it.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "Very happy today, the boys did exactly what I asked. At some points I would say we were unlucky not to get the win today but I think a draw is fair."

Northampton Town boss Adrian Boothroyd had this to say: "I understand the fans dissapointment today, but the FA Cup is always difficult, teams know they can cause upsets and always play better than you expect."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Hall, Cadmore (c), Bygrave, Kalama, Brathwaite, N'Diaye, Williams, Gregson, Webb (Ekim 71), Hammond (McLean 61), Oyenuga
Subs not used. Beasant (GK), Pele, Cox, Bentley, Wishart

Poor run continues for Hayes & Yeading

Hayes & Yeading United's poor run of results has been extended to 5 matches without a league win after a poor finish against Bromley ended in 2-0.

Hayes & Yeading United some would say have had a really tough run of matches in all competitions, playing all top 4 teams and an FA Cup First Round Proper against League 1 opposition, but their fans feel they should be performing a lot better after a poor result against a high flying Bromley side at the Kingfield Stadium which ended 2-0 to the visitors.

United started well and looked sharp for the first 30 minutes, on the 12 minute mark they had the first shot of the match when McLean saw an opening but could only shoot wide from out of the box. Then on the 39th minute Beasant pulled off a terrific save from a close range header to keep his team in the game as they went into half time with the scores level at 0-0.

In the second half it was a very different game, United were looking tired and Bromley wracked up the attempts on goal, Taiwo came the closest in the early stages with a fine effort from outside the box that was well caught by the United keeper, then 11 minutes later as we came into the last 15 minutes United started to slip up, shocking defending allowed Jarrett to run in and score on the back post with ease before Joseph-Dubois managed to get on the end of a short free kick into the box and poke the ball home across his body making it 2-0.

With their extended FA Cup run and the upcoming FA Trophy match there is a high probability that United's season will continue to get busier at a point where they really need players to be fit and sharp, it is going to be very difficult. On the other end of the scale Bromley are looking sharp and making a point as to why they should be considered a promotion threat.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "We played poorly today, I am afraid I have no further comments, thanks."

Bromley boss Mark Goldberg had this to say: "Sharp, quick and strong, our performance today was very good, of course we need to keep our feet on the ground at this stage as anything can happen."

Haye & Yeading United lineup (4-4-2). Beasant, Legg, Pele, Cadmore, Brathwaite, Cox (c)(N'Diaye 45), Bentley (Williams 85), Gregson, Webb, Hammond, McLean (Oyenuga 56)

Hayes & Yeading United ease into the first round of the FA Trophy after beating Burscough at Victoria Park 3-1.

In the second FA competition available to clubs of the lower leagues Hayes & Yeading United were drawn against Burscough away from home, after their strong showing in the FA Cup so far the pundits were backing United to put on a strong performance to progress to the First Round of the FA Trophy, they did not disappoint with a strong performance ending in 3-1 for the visitors after fine displays from a number of players.

Hammond got his side off to a flyer after only 3 minutes when Oyenuga put through an inch perfect through ball and Hammond took the ball on his stride and was able to simply pass the ball around the keeper. 13 minutes into the match they were presented with another opportunity and it was brilliantly taken by Oyenuga, on the edge of the ball he had his back to the goal and then turned on the ball and shot into the corner with his left foot, making it 2-0 within 13 minutes.

Burscough put very little up against their better opponents however they did have a push forward, that resulted in a penalty after a clumsy challenge by N'Diaye, Kennedy stepped up to the penalty spot with confidence and sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 2-1. The final goal of the match came in the 68th minute when Oyenuga turned 2 defenders and was able to easily slot the ball home into the bottom left corner, leaving the keeper planted to his spot.

United once again re-affirmed their strength in cup competition this season so far, they outplayed their opponents today as was expected. In the First Round of the FA Trophy they have been drawn against their league opponents Bath City away from home which will be a tough tie, the match will be played on the 24th of November.

Hayes & Yeading United boss Edward Martin said: "Good performance today, we managed to rest a few players for the upcoming FA Cup match which is very important as well, and we still played strong today."

Burscough boss Derek Goulding had this to say: "We came up against a team that is further up the chain than us and that was shown today, we played with spirit and tenacity, but they were the better team today."
