FM14 - Starting from the Bottom

So I'm back at it, this time with Boston United. I had a save and was in League Two with them but it got corrupted so I started over.

Currently sitting in 7th place, just 1 point off the play-off places, in late January.

Jake Kempton (ST) from Wolves (on loan) has been good, while Mike Norton (ST, also on loan) from FC United has gotten me some valuable points.

James Lawrie (MR) from Altrincham is always a very good player in these low leagues.

I signed French center back Cédric Abraham on a free and he's been very solid at the back, and scored some important goals for us.

I also signed Lee Harper as a goalkeeper and despite his age, 41, he's been reliable between the sticks.

Believe it or not I still have my North Ferriby save with my mate, he's got a job with awful hours now so we rarely get to play /o\

After not really playing FM properly since FM12, I've recently just started a game as Boston United in Classic mode. After flicking through this thread it gave me a bit of incentive to give it a bash and initially it was a pleasure. However, after a good start to the season I went winless for around 17 games and ended up on the foot of the ladder. I'll be lucky to last the entire season with my job very insecure and board less than impressed given mid-table expectations.

Have continued to tough it out though to see what unfolds. My defence is horrid and being already over my wage budget I can't bring anyone else in that's decent.

And as I type this, I've just been sacked after yet another horrible defeat. Not overly sure if I'll get another job or not after that start to my managerial career.

Only just found the forum.

I started an AFC Telford save, Friday of last week. During my first season, I got Jon Macken on a free, along with Dele Adebola.
Also, I have a beast of an AM. Jonathon Wafula along side Shaquille Hunter.
Jon Macken is almost always my first starter.

However, that was during my first season. I played a 4-2-2-2 ... 4 - Defence, 2 - CM, 2 - AML/R, 2 - ST.
I play attacking football, with retain possession and to hassle opponents.
My first season ended with Gainsborough running top through the entire league, and me scraping just beneath. Then final game of the season was against them, winner takes all for the title. If I won, I was to equal their points but go ahead on GD.

Hello the Skrill Prem!
So, As far as I'm aware, I've signed the likes of Alex Smith, Alan Smith, Bastien Héry (From PSG), Troy Hewitt and many more. Keeping my tactics exactly the same. Currently 1st. Also signed Richard Richardson (Fantastic name, I know) He's my regen wonderkid of a goalkeeper! 17 years old now, and is playing at league 1 with 4 and a half star CA and 5 star PA. Long term can be a good premier division goalkeeper! He's a brick wall between the sticks! (This is still all during my Skrill Prem 2014/15 season)

I had the offer to sign Jeffers, but from previous experience, he's diabolical! Never performed. However, on FM14, I'm disappointed that Mirko Ranieri isn't as good as he was on FM13..

I had him and his record was something like 1 in 19 games.

If you're now in the Skrill prem, 2014/15 season, then Troy Hewitt is available to get on a pre-contract before he renews.
Think he had a month or two left when I added him as a transfer target. Board did all the work.

He's got around 24 goals to 22 appearances. He's a fantastic player, and plays at a League 2 level so he's solid for a good 2-3 seasons!

With my AFC Telford save I posted about previously, I have as of yesterday managed to reach the Prem.
Consecutive promotions throughout the league, with fantastic financial backing from the board, and a lot of loan debts unfortunately.
However, I spent a lot of time plotting around my scout reports looking for the right people and people to have the ability to play at a high league than my current one. Now that I've entered the Prem, the majority of my Championship squad (2017/18) have reached some fantastic potential levels, however I have had to sell a few players to cover the cost of my £35Mil signing of a young player from Real Madrid named Miguel. After signing the superstar youth, I added him to play as an Advanced Playmaker in MC. I decided to then check his stats in the in-game-editor just to see how he was to cope against other teams in the prem, and due to him being one of only 3 people that were showing up as 5 Star Potential. The kid has 200PA, but only 129CA. The kid has a lot to build on, but hopefully can be the next world class player! (He also already plays for Spains main team)
Other than that, I only managed to make a few soon to or have expired contracts with individuals, and signed the likes of Wayne Rooney (Big mistake) and a few other big names just to help me stay up.

So far, I'm around 5 games in with 2 draws, 2 losses and 1 win. Not going too well.
