Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova that striker Javier Hernández is not for sale and that any bids regardless of size will be immediately rejected.

Hernández, 24, signed for United in July 2010 for £7 million and has become an important first team player at Old Trafford, the Mexican international scoring 23 times in 55 Barclays Premier League appearances.

Hernández is part of another fearsome Manchester United attack, the summer addition of Robin van Persie giving Sir Alex Ferguson the option of Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, van Persie or Hernández.

The recent arrival of van Persie however has seen reports surface in Spain that new Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova is looking to add the 24 year old to his squad, reports suggesting that United may be willing to accept an offer worth £15 million for Hernández. However, upon hearing about the reports Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Vilanova that any bid will be a waste of time, the United boss adamant that Hernández won't be leaving Old Trafford.

"Chicharito is a Manchester United player and that won't change anytime soon," said Ferguson.

"I've heard some rumours suggesting that Barcelona will be looking to negotiate a deal with us for the lad, but let me tell you now, any bid from Barcelona would be a waste of time, he's not for sale, he's happy here and we're delighted to have him, he won't be leaving," added the Manchester United manager.

Ferguson was speaking at an arranged press conference by the club in which they announced that the club will face Olympique de Marseille and River Plate in pre season friendlies at Old Trafford in the next few days. The games were only arranged after the club were forced to cancel their 2012 DHL tour of Portugal after a viral outbreak hit the first team squad after their recent pre season clash against Sparta Prague.

Patrice Evra wary of Olympique de Marseille threat

Manchester United welcome Olympique de Marseille to Old Trafford this Saturday for a pre season clash and defender Patrice Evra says he's wary of the threat posed by the French side.

The visit of Olympique de Marseille to Old Trafford will prove a difficult one according to Frenchman Patrice Evra, the Manchester United left back wary of the threat posed by the French side.

Evra, 31, played all his football in France before joining the Red Devils during the January transfer window back in 2006 and Evra will know his opponents on Saturday well following his time at AS Monaco.

"The game against Marseille won't be an easy encounter," said Evra.

"We must play well from the very beginning, if we don't they could punish us, they will be very motivated for the game. In France a lot of players dream of playing for a big club like Manchester United and to play against us even in a pre season game is a big occasion for players, we must play well on Saturday," added Evra.

Hahaha. That's actually a pretty good idea considering we are no longer able to use the 'Preview' feature before we post updates.

That's my only issue with using the web-style updates, if I make a mistake and don't notice it until it's posted I can't edit it after

Ferdinand happy with pre season results

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says the clubs early pre season form has been encouraging and that the players are happy after victories over Sparta Prague and Olympique de Marseille.

A 3-0 victory over Sparta Prague was followed by a convincing 4-1 victory over Olympique de Marseille last Saturday, Manchester United demonstrating during their pre season clashes exactly what they're capable of doing ahead of the new Barclays Premier League season.

United defender Rio Ferdinand says the players are confident of wrestling back the league title from arch rivals Manchester City and said the encouraging pre season results is helping to breed confidence amongst the Manchester United players.

"It was difficult to lose the title on the final day, especially the way we did, but we'll learn from that and I definitely believe we can finish top of the league this season, although it's obviously going to be very difficult to do that because the teams in the Premier League are improving every year," said Ferdinand.

"I think Chelsea and Arsenal will be much better sides this season, they've strengthened.

"Obviously we hope to be up there ourselves and City will certainly challenge, they have some fantastic players and with their recent investment they've closed the gap on the teams above them. Don't rule out Liverpool or Tottenham either, with good seasons they could be challenging. So far we're really happy with our pre season performances, we've played some fantastic football and we're very confident at the moment."

Manchester United have remaining pre season fixtures against River Plate and Royal Antwerp, the latter to take place in Belgium just a week before the Red Devils kick start their Barclays Premier League campaign against newly promoted Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium.

Rooney could miss Southampton game

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could be left without striker Wayne Rooney for the clubs opening day fixture against Southampton after the 26 year old suffered a groin strain during training today that could keep him sidelined for almost a month.

Wayne Rooney could miss Manchester United's opening day fixture against Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium after the player limped out of training today, subsequent scans confirming the England international has suffered a groin strain that may keep him out for up to a month depending on his recovery.

The news will come as a real blow for Sir Alex Ferguson who would have been hoping to have Rooney available for the difficult trip to face the newly promoted Saints.

If Rooney does miss the opening day fixture against Southampton he should be available to face Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford, Javier Hernández the favourite to partner Robin van Persie up front against Southampton with Danny Welbeck expected to be named on the bench.

The striker currently has 3 years remaining on his £180,000 a week contract at Old Trafford.

United forced to cancel River Plate game

Manchester United have been forced to cancel another pre season friendly, terrible weather conditions in Argentina preventing the River Plate squad from traveling to Manchester.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has labelled his sides pre season preparations the worst in his time at the club after they were forced to cancel yet another fixture after terrible weather in Argentina saw all flights cancelled for the next 48 hours.

That means the River Plate squad won't arrive in Old Trafford in time to face United on Saturday. A viral outbreak early last month saw United cancel their 2012 DHL Tour of Portugal and the recent setback hasn't impressed Sir Alex Ferguson who labelled the clubs pre season preparations the worst he has seen.

"This pre season has been far from ideal, we've had players out with a really bad virus, we've had to cancel a tour to Portugal, Wayne Rooney is in doubt for the Southampton game and now some terrible weather means we've had to cancel the River Plate game, we've had no luck," said Ferguson.

"I can't remember a pre season like this in my time at the club, we just haven't had enough games because of various reasons. I actually believes it's the worst I've ever seen but we'll just try prepare the players as best we can, we'll add extra training sessions before the start of the season" added the United boss.

Hey guys so after playing with United for awhile I'm wanting a different challenge, I basically play every FM with them. So this is going to be on hold, I may come back to it, apologies for that. However I will be starting a new story, with Liverpool, I want to try something different, but still in the Premier League.
