So after getting bored relativity quickly starting off at the top with Roma I it was time to go the whole hog and start off unemployed with Sunday League rep.
So after not being able to land a job until March 2014 we finally landed the job of Almere City in the Jupiler League, Netherlands. We took over with Almere hovering above the relegation zone and for the last few game of the season I managed to keep them around that position and stay within the Jupiler League.
So we will now be going into the 2014-2015 season starting fresh and ready to put in a decent challenge. Predicted to finish mid table I hope to maybe sneak into a playoff place.

The big clear out of a new club happened and 16 players and staff left the club freeing up space to bring in my own people. Managed to get myself a limited yet half decent back room with only 4 coaches.
as you can see from above we have a strong potrntial squad, whether that potential will shine through is something we will have to see. I did bring in 5 different players. 4 of those were really to just bulk out teh squad and nothing to huge although I am very happy with the signing of Lars Gulpen for 300k from Fortuna Sittard.
As you can see for a 21 year old its a pretty big coup for a relegation threatened Jupiler League team and I am hoping he can prove his worth to us.

A rather hot and cold pre-season sees us take some awesome wins as well some poor, poor performances.

Yup looks awesome, hopefully he fulfills his potential. He does have a buyout clause in his contract though that I am going to try and get out asap.

The opening 10 fixtures normally give you an idea of how the league is shaping up. I wondered what the season was going to be like after the opening day 5-2 defeat I thought I was destined for an early sacking but we managed to get some good results under our belts. Picking up 6 wins out of 10 games sees us sitting in the playoff places.
We did however get dumped out the Cup in the 2nd round thanks to a Penalty shootout loss to WKE.

Heading into the middle of January we are sitting pretty in 3rd place. Thanks to the Juplier rulings having been in 2nd place within the second period we have already secured a place for the playoffs.
4 points off the top its going to be very hard to push for the title but I am hoping to pick up a decent DM so I can shore up the midfield and let the wing backs push on.
As you can see we have had a good set of results here going unbeaten for nearly 3 months if it wasn't for that last loss against Helmond Sport.

As you can see we hit a bit of a bad patch over the past few months pikcing up only 2 wins out of 8. Stared conceding a fair bit which is worrying.
Still sitting in 3rd place as we have been most season. Sparta have grown a huge lead at the top which looks near damn impossible to catch now..

A fantastic away result against Helmond sees us able to take an away goals win. A match against Willem II up next. I forgot that 2 teams get promoted so if we can beat Willem II in the next 2 games we will be promoted!

The financial and reputational gain I would get from being in the top flight means I would be able to build a far better squad than I ever would in the lower league. yes I may have to hang on for dear life in the top flight but if I can it will be well worth it.

We again managed to play so well away from home and took a 2-0 win in the second leg to confirm our status in the Eredivisie!
Not sure how well it will go and I am hoping we can just hang on and stay in the League but for now we will enjoy the promotion.

We begin our life in the top flight with a small pre-season. A much better pre-season to last years where it all went to pot. The Eredivisie kicks off alot earlier than other European Leagues with the first match on the 8th of August.

As you can see we have a lot of potential talent going into the season hopefully that will show. Lars Gulpen turned into the player I was hoping fro when I singed him chipping in with 8 goals and 28 assists last season, hopefully that follows on to this season.
A few of the players I am hoping will make a difference this season.
A versatile wing back in Alhadhur will hopefully bring some attacking threat from the back something which Bots didn't really have in him last season.
17 year old Saldago looks like he has the raw talent to become special. Hopefully he can get some game time but if not I will try and loan him out in January.
20 year old Alfaiate was brought in as 36 year old Keler is on his way out. This biy looks like he has the presence to become a future captain and can form a Portuguese wall with Ferreira in center of defence.

A poor start to life in Eredivise saw us go our first 6 games without a win then we ajusted to life and started on an awesome run of 4 game winning streak only halted by Den Haag in the most recent match.
As you can see thanks to that decent run we are well away from the relegation zone and are actually sitting in mid table! Hopefully we can continue that form and not have to get into a relegation battle.

I have just played some of the bets few months in my FM games ever. Newely promoted Almere City have won 8/11 games including victories against the likes of Feyenoord, PSV and FC Twente!
We also made our way into the Quarter finals of the KNVB Beker Cup.
That amazing run of form has us in the dizzying heights of 6th place with a game in hand. If we can continue this form it would be incredible!

The fairytale continues with 4 game to go we continue to show amazing form with a small and young squad. Apart from that Gulpen injury I have been very lucky.
With 4 games left and a Cup semi final against PSV we have a chance to do some wonderful things in our first season in the big time!

So after an unbelievable season Almere City finish 4th in their first season in the big time and qualify for the Europa League next season!
