Founder members of the football league and hugely influential in establishing the European Cup (champions league), Wolves' best years were throughout the 50's and 60's. But three consecutive relegation's saw the club slide very close to closure during the 1980's. Thankfully things turned around and they have now played in the top flight twice since, one year in 2003 and for three years from 2009/2012. But relegation from the Championship followed and the club dropped into the third tier of English football once again.

Brief Club History
For many years Parma plied their trade in the lower leagues of Italy and it wasn't until a very lucrative sponsorship deal with dairy company Parmalat in the late 80's that they would really kick on in Italy. Promotion to Serie A arrived in 1990 finishing sixth in their first season. The following year they would win the Italian Cup for the first time, with the Cup Winners Cup coming the year after. Players such as Thomas Brolin, Tino Asprilla and Dino Baggio now wore the shirt and Parma were a real force to be reckoned with and silverware and high league finishes becoming a common theme each season. But in 2004 financial difficulties at Parmalat meant big problems for Parma on the pitch. The glory days were over and despite spending nine of those fourteen years in the top five, they never managed to win a Serie A title.

Brief Club History
IFK are Sweden's most successful football club along with being the nations longest servant in Sweden's top division. Their real success started in the early 1980's, a decade which also saw them win both their European trophies and where they also made the semi finals of the European Cup. But it wasn't until the 90's that they really became known throughout Europe for their adventures in the newly made European Champions League, their best performance coming in 1993 when faced with a group of Barcelona, Man Utd and Galatasaray, they finished top and were only knocked out on away goals by Bayern Munich in the quarter finals. Towards the end of the 90's those highs were a far cry from the team that graced the pitch into the new millennium as some expensive signings went very wrong and they even faced a relegation battle in 2002. Things did improve though and in 2007 IFK were once again crowned champions of Sweden, but that appears to be a one off as they certainly no longer look like title challengers.

Reims were for a time one of the best sides in Europe, with all their major competition wins coming between 1949 and 1962. In 1956 they played Real Madrid in the final of the first ever European Cup, narrowly losing by four goals to three. Three years they would make the final again and once more Real would be the opponents. This time Real ran out 2-0 winners, but these games really put Reims on the map in not just European, but also world football. Those are now a long way away as it wasn't long before the club were relegated and have since spent their time yoyo-ing between the French leagues, the best finish they have managed since the 62/63 season is just 5th place. Reims are now back in Ligue 1, securing 14th spot after promotion last season.

Brief Club History
After winning their first championship in 1911, Rapid have almost been unstoppable in Austrian Football. Only major rivals Austria Wien come close to the number of titles they have. Back in the first half of the 1900's Austria was one of the major nations in European football and Rapid the club to beat, even the war couldn't stop them, they just went and won the German league and Cup instead! Despite their clear quality on the pitch, they never triumphed in a European competition.

Despite being founded way back in 1903, it wasn't until the 1975/76 that Boavista made any real impact on the Portuguese league, managing to finish 2pts behind winners Benfica in second place. Once again in 1998/99 they come runners up and just a couple of years later they would finally win their first Portuguese title, this was quite a feat considering 'the big three' now have 47 titles between them! A new stadium was soon built and things looked to be on the up for the club, but financial promises were broken and the club took a very quick decline. In 2008 the club were relegated to the second tier, the money troubles continued and Boavista were eventually demoted because of these debts and are now playing for the first time in their history down in the third tier of Portugal.

Queens Park were founded 147 years ago and are the oldest club in Scotland, in fact outside of England and Wales they are the oldest club in the world. Amazingly they have also stayed as an amateur club throughout their entire existence and as the club motto reads "Ludere Causa Ludendi" – to play for the sake of playing and indeed they do. Their best years are long ago, over a 100 years to be more precise with all their major cup wins coming before 1900, so are well overdue some success. In all fairness everything is in place to be a major player in Scottish football, they play in a stadium that holds 52,000 people and are located in the largest city in Scotland. But what has and possibly will hold them back is that amateur status and whether or not that would change over time in the game.

Perugia -> Had a solid enough five or six year Serie A stint at the turn of the century, probably most famous for going a full season unbeaten in the last 70s and still managing to not win the Serie A title
Lecce -> Were a Serie A team two year back but got relegated and then demoted to the third tier, think it was for financial irregularity. The legend that is Fabrizio Miccoli plays there and the hallowed Zdenek Zeman has worked his magic with the club in the past
Racing Santander - Were always a solid little La Liga team, they are now in the Spanish third division
And if none of them tickle your fancy hit up Santa Cruz in the Brazilian third division, their attendances hit 40k, 50k, sometimes even 60k in real life.

Haven't checked their squad but in real life the squad is being rebuilt with some lively youngsters, the likes of Thalles and Luan have looked good for the Brazilian youth teams in recent seasons.

Got integrated into Scottish football just over a decade ago, got from the 3rd division to SPL in 5 years, losing a Scottish cup final along the way, only to be relegated and massive financial problems left the club in Scottish non league.

Romanian Second League Group 1

My favourite club. Founded in 1923, one of the few Romanian pre-war clubs still active, Rapid is one of the greatest clubs in Romanian football and with a great history and support it has all the ingredients to stay that way, but recent money troubles got the club relegated at the end of the 2012-2013, despite finishing eight in the league. Despite not winning any league title in the pre-war period, Rapid was one of the best Romanian teams around in this early era of Romanian football, winning 7 domestic cups, 6 of which were won back to back, setting a record which still stands.
In 1940 Rapid reached the final of the Mitropa Cup, a continental competition usualy disputed between clubs from Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and Romania but in the 1940 edition, because of World War II, only clubs from Romania, Hungary and Yugoslavia participated. Nonetheless, after knocking out MTK Budapest and Gradanski Zagreb, Rapid was to play Ferencvarosi Budapest in July 1940, but the match was never held because of the events of World War II.
In the communist era the club had it's ups and downs. After an unremarkable decade in the fifties in which the club was relagated twice (spiced up by missing the title on goal difference in 1950), Rapid had one of it's best decades in the sixties. Besides finishing three times second and two times coming in third, Rapid won it's first National title in 1967. The seventies started good with two runner up finishes in 1970 and 1971. In 1972 they won the cup and qualified for the 1972-1973 Cup Winners Cup in which Rapid knocked out Landskrona from Sweden and it's namesake Rapid Wien, but were eliminated in the quarter finals by Don Revie's Leeds United. Because the seventies started so well no one foresaw the disaster to follow. In 1974 Rapid relagated and would not recover until the fall of communism, becoming a yo-yo club, even though they won the Cup in 1975 as a Second League side. Despite this hardship the club retained it's great support and in the eighties, despite playing in the Second League in a time in which other Romanian clubs were winning the European Champions Cup (Steaua in 1986), Rapid was one of the most beloved clubs in Romania.
After the fall of communism, with the infusion of private money from new owner George Copos, Rapid became once again a force in Romanian football and between 1996 and 2008 they finished in the top three 10 times, two of which being first. Rapid also won 4 cup in this timeframe (1996-2008) and reached again the quarter finals of a continental competition in the 2005-2006 Uefa Cup, knocking out the likes of Feyenoord, Hertha Berlin or Hamburg SV but being thrown out after two draws (1-1, 0-0) against Romanian rivals Steaua Bucuresti.
The problems started in 2008 after a new owner, Jordanian Fathi Taher, made huge, albeit bad investments. Failing to gain any successes Taher left the club the same year, former owner George Copos returning at the head of Rapid, despite having no intention of making any further investments. The club soon acquired huge debts, the new owner limiting to only keeping the club alive with minimal efforts. After a period of mediocrity, in which Rapid finished between fourth and eight, the club hit it's bottom in December 2012 when it entered insolvency. After many of the so-called star players left the club, several young players were brought in from the youth team to play in the second part of the season. At the end Rapid finished eight, the young players surprising many with some good performances, but despite this the club, failing to obtain the First League license for the next season, was relegated.
You'll start the 2013-2014 season as favourites for promotion (media prediction is first) in the first group of the Second League. You have a good team for the Second league and a couple of great youngsters, a left-back and a central midfielder (touted as future stars). Promotion is easy to gain but for the First League the squad must be strenghtened. You can sell your young stars for very good prices (around 5 million euros each) so your financial problems will be over and you'll also have the money to rebuild the squad. With hard work and a bit of luck you should be able to bring Rapid back to where it belongs.
A side quest for this challenge would be to emulate the 1975 squad and win the Cup as a second league team.

Champions in 1973, runners-up in 76, 94 and most recently 2009 with coach Angel Cappa. The team was dubbed 'Cappa's Angels' and played beautiful tiki-taka football, with Javier Pastore at the centre of it all, supported by Defederico, Toranzo, Bolatti and others.
Got relegated a couple of seasons ago, and still have some aged members of the Angels team, most notably Defed and the full back Arano (best know for looking like DJ Johnnie Walker).
I've played with Huracan a few times on various editions, always enjoyable, but a shoestring challenge as there's no money.
