Manchester United manager David Moyes says he's confident he'll succeed at the helm of the Premier League champions despite the intense pressure he'll be under after replacing Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are in good hands according to new manager David Moyes who today declared his confidence that he'll succeed at Old Trafford. The former Everton boss replaced the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson at the beginning of July.
"Taking charge of Manchester United is a massive honour and I'm delighted to be here," said Moyes.
"I want the fans to know that the club is in good hands, the setup here is fantastic and it'll allow me to achieve what's expected over the next few years. I'm confident we'll be challenging for major trophies every season and be competing with the best teams in Europe. I loved my time at Everton and I firmly believe that it's left me prepared for life as the new manager of Manchester United. As I said I'm confident I'll succeed at this fantastic club during my time here," added the Scot.
The Scot has already overseen some changes at Old Trafford in his first week as Steven Round, Chris Woods, Phil Neville and Jimmy Lumsden all left Everton to join United's backroom staff. That however meant that assistant manager Mike Phelan, first team coach René Meulensteen and goalkeeping coach Eric Steele were no longer required and left the club.
It's been rumoured that Moyes will make midfielder Marouane Fellaini and left back Leighton Baines, who both played under the new Manchester United boss during his time at Goodison Park, his main transfer targets this summer.
It's believed Moyes has been given close to £60 million to spend on players this summer by the United's owners.
Moyes however was unwilling to talk about another clubs players publicly.
"I won't be talking about transfers today or any other day, I think it's disrespectful to talk about players who are contracted to another club, I've never done it before and I'm not going to start doing it now," said the United boss.
"Obviously they're both fantastic players and any club would love to have individuals like them amongst their ranks, but as I've said they're Everton players and I won't be talking about targeting players at other clubs," added Moyes.

Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of signing Belgian international Marouane Fellaini in a deal that would cost the current Barclays Premier League champions more than £30 million.
The deal could be done before the Red Devils depart for their pre-season tour of the United States, but Everton have remained silent and have been unwilling to confirm or deny reports that the Belgian is set to leave Goodison Park.
The 25 year old became the clubs most expensive signing back in 2008 when David Moyes, who is now the United manager, paid £16 million to lure him away from Standard Liège and the Belgian international has gone on to make 138 appearances in the Barclays Premier League for the Toffees scoring 25 times in his five seasons in Merseyside.
Reports suggest the midfielder will express his desire to leave Goodison Park for Old Trafford if the deal is financially right for Everton and new manager Roberto Martínez could heavily strengthen his squad this summer ahead of the new Barclays Premier League season if he's allowed to reinvest the reported £30 million transfer fee that United would pay.
It's expected that Fellaini will sign a five year contract worth a reported £90,000 a week if he joins United.

Manchester United fans should expect a season of transition and should expect a few disappointing results according to former player Gary Neville who has urged everybody to give new manager David Moyes the necessary time to adapt to his new surroundings at Old Trafford following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.
The former Manchester United captain has urged supporters and the club to give new manager David Moyes time to adapt to life at Old Trafford. The former Everton boss took over from Sir Alex Ferguson just two weeks ago and is expected to be under pressure this season to deliver at the very least a place in next seasons UEFA Champions League.
Whilst Neville admits United could struggle to retain their Barclays Premier League crown he was confident the squad at Moyes disposal was good enough to ensure the Red Devils didn't miss out on playing amongst Europe's elite.
"The title may be hard to achieve this season as Chelsea and City will strengthen I'm sure. It's the toughest competition to win and with Sir Alex leaving it'll be a year of transition for the club, but I'm confident the squads good enough to finish in the top four. Manchester United belong in the UEFA Champions League playing amongst the best in Europe," said Neville.
"I'd like to think the club and fans will accept that this season could be tougher than what we're accustom to. There will be some bad results I'm sure, some periods that aren't to kind and that's football. We need to give David Moyes the time to make his mark, hopefully he'll get the time required," added the former England international.
United begin their Barclays Premier League title defence against West Ham United at Old Trafford. Moyes will take charge of his first competitive fixture as United boss when they face Wigan Athletic in the FA Community Shield a week earlier.

Manchester United have confirmed via their official website that they've completed the signing of Belgian international and Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini for an undisclosed fee believed to be £28 million.
David Moyes has signed Marouane Fellaini for the second time in his career and has made the Belgian international his first signing since becoming the new Manchester United manager. The Scot has paid a fee believed to be about £28 million to secure the Belgians signature on a five year contract that will see him stay at Old Trafford until at least 2018.
The 25 year old remains Everton's most expensive signing, Moyes paying £16 million back in 2008 to lure him away from Standard Liège. Fellaini made 138 appearances in the Barclays Premier League for the Toffees scoring 25 times during his five year stay on Merseyside. The Belgian midfielder scored the only goal last season at Goodison Park as the Toffees beat United.
Fellaini, said he was delighted to be linking up with Moyes again and said it was a dream come true to sign for United.
"I'm very happy to be again working with the manager as I have known him for many years and I have a lot of respect for him. When I was given the opportunity to come here I couldn't say no. Becoming a Manchester United player is a dream come true and I can't wait to help the team win many trophies during my time here," said an excited Fellaini.
Marouane Fellaini has cost Manchester United £28 million
The new Manchester United manager was delighted to have secured Fellaini's signature and tipped him to be a huge success at Old Trafford. The Scot also thanked his former club for their professional attitude whilst concluding the deal and said he understood why they wouldn't want to lose a player of Fellaini's stature.
"First thing I have to do is thank Everton for the fantastic manner in which they handled themselves during these negotiations. They let us now very early that they didn't want to sell Marouane but were also aware that he may want to leave for a club of Manchester United's stature. They were fantastic and totally professional during the entire process," said Moyes.
"I think Marouane will be a massive success at this club and I don't think we've paid over the odds for him. I think what we've paid is certainly a fair reflection of his ability and stature as a player. He can play just in behind the striker and in behind the midfield as a defensive midfielder, he's a powerful and strong lad who'll improve our squad," added the Scot.

Patrice Evra has backed striker Robin van Persie to improve on his league tally of 26 goals last season which helped lead Manchester United to the Barclays Premier League title in Sir Alex Ferguson's final season.
A hat-trick from Robin van Persie against Aston Villa last April secured yet another Barclays Premier League title for Manchester United and what would prove to be the last under then manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The strikers stunning second will live long in the memory for many football fans as he watched a fantastic pass from Wayne Rooney, who was in his own half, drop right onto his left foot before smashing an unstoppable volley beyond a helpless Brad Guzan in the Villa goal.
The Dutch international scored 26 times in the Barclays Premier League last season after leaving Arsenal in a deal that cost the Red Devils an estimated £24 million. The 29 year old has been backed to improve this season by vice captain Patrice Evra.
"Robin can improve on last season and I'm confident he'll score even more goals this time around," revealed Evra.
"He'll be more comfortable with the way we play and feel more comfortable during games as he's been here an entire season. For me Robin is one of the very few world class strikers in football right now, alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, he is fantastic and some of the things he does are truly breathtaking," added the French international.

Evra, 32, is entering the final year of his contract but says all he's concerned with right now is preparing as best he can during pre-season for United's opening Barclays Premier League fixture against West Ham United at Old Trafford next month.
"The contract doesn't worry me, not at all, I'm not thinking about that," said the 32 year old.
"For me all I want to do is prepare for the season ahead and I'm hoping I'll be picked for the first game against West Ham next month. The season is going to be a long and hard one so we must prepare well to compete in many different competitions. We've a new manager now and we're all excited about that, but still it's business as usual," added Evra.
The defender joined the Red Devils in January 2006 and has gone on to make 240 Barclays Premier League appearances.
United recently completed the signing of Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini for £28 million and recent rumours had linked David Moyes with a swoop for left back Leighton Baines who could have forced Evra out of Old Trafford, however it looks as if the 28 year old will remain at Goodison Park for the remainder of his career after signing a new four year deal.

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidić has dismissed reports that some players may not respect David Moyes as he hasn't won any silverware and insists the players will respect and back their new manager.
David Moyes will be respected at Old Trafford despite reports in various British newspapers stating that some players may struggle to motivate themselves for their new manager according to Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidić.
The former Serbian international told BBC Sport that such rumours were nothing but fabricated lies designed to sell papers and insisted everybody at Old Trafford will give their all for the former Everton and Preston North End manager.
"Players not showing the manager respect? Well that is very funny for me to hear, I think it's a made up lie the media have told to sell more papers, make more money, that for them is smart. The manager is respected at a club like Manchester United and the new manager will definitely get the respect he deserves no matter what is printed in the newspapers," said Vidić.
"He did very well at Everton and maybe he didn't win any titles, but not many in England do outside big teams like City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and of course Manchester United. There's no doubt he did a great job at Everton and they became an extremely difficult team to beat, we lost at Goodison Park last season and they've been in an FA Cup final," added Vidić.
Nemanja Vidić has one year left on his deal at Old Trafford
Vidić, 31, has been at Old Trafford since January 2006 when he left Spartak Moscow for a fee of £7 million.
In eight seasons at Old Trafford the brave defender has won five Barclays Premier League titles, three Capital One Cups and the UEFA Champions League back in 2008 when United beat Chelsea in Moscow after a tense penalty shootout. Vidić has made 186 Barclays Premier League appearances since arriving at Old Trafford scoring 15 times for the Red Devils.
The defender currently has just one season left on his Manchester United contract and could leave the club next summer on a free transfer, however the 31 year old said he'd be happy to remain at Old Trafford for the remainder of his career.
"Right now I'm only thinking about the season ahead and being prepared for that," said Vidić.
"I'm sure once the season is underway things will become clearer, the club know I'd love to stay here for the remainder of my career so at some stage we'll sit down and discuss my future, but not right now," added the Manchester United captain.
Manchester United begin their Barclays Premier League title defence next month against West Ham United at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager David Moyes could struggle to keep Brazilian defender Rafael at Old Trafford after various sources linked La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid with bids for the Brazilian international.
The defender has been at Old Trafford since January 2008 and has gone on to win the Barclays Premier League title three times. The Brazilian international has made 80 appearances in the Barclays Premier League for the Red Devils.
Rafael, 23, has been capped twice by Brazil, his debut coming in May last year as the Selecao beat Denmark 3-1.
With the 2014 FIFA World Cup to be held in Brazil the 23 year old will be hoping to force his way into Luiz Scolari's squad.
Recent reports have made the defenders future at Old Trafford unclear however with sources linking La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid with transfer bids for the Manchester United defender who has three years remaining on his contract.
Rafael made 28 Barclays Premier League appearances for Manchester United last season scoring three times.

Manchester United may have suffered defeat in their opening pre-season game against MLS side Columbus Crew but Danny Welbeck has his sights set on bigger targets this season after scoring a superb brace.
Manchester United may have been beaten 3-2 by Columbus Crew at the Columbus Crew Stadium in their first game of their three game tour of the United States but there was a positive as Danny Welbeck scored two spectacular goals.
The 22 year old, who scored just once in the Barclays Premier League last season, netted twice to put the Red Devils ahead and both goals were worthy of just a few replays. The strikers first was a thunderous left footed drive from outside the box that smashed against the underside of the crossbar before crossing the line and his second topped that as he dribbled past four players before calmly chipping the ball over the onrushing Carlos Contreras to restore United's lead.
Following the game the England international told BBC Sport that he was delighted to have bagged a brace despite the surprising defeat in Ohio and spoke of his ambitions to score more goals during United's title defence this season.
"It was a disappointing result in the end to lose a game we led twice and I suppose we'll need to work on our defending a little bit more. You just can't give away silly goals and we did that tonight," said the 22 year old England international.
"My goals tonight were pleasing, I enjoyed scoring them and it's always a nice feeling as a striker when you're scoring goals. For me personally I want to add more goals to my game, I'm a striker and that's my job," added Welbeck.
Welbeck signed a new deal last season that will keep him at Old Trafford until the summer 2016.
