Interesting, is it a world class player?
I really didn't expect to beat United like that. I thought we had a chance to edge them, but not batter them!
DP91
The new signings were fantastic also both those for 15/16 summer window and those bosman-rule signings will prove fantastic, whether it be to become squad players or sales down the line to generate some extra cash.
Great results over the EPL contingent recently also, a win at Stamford Bridge isn't something to be sneezed at and complete dominance over United too! Proving to be another fantastic season
bmg033
Thanks for reading it all! The first season went way better than I expected, the win in Europe was something I thought wouldn't happen for a few seasons.
The second season so far has been good, although its unlikely that i'll be repeating the european success! Bayern still look too strong in the league, so for now its all about the DKB-Pokal.

Champions League
The second leg with United was quite dull if i'm honest. They played like they knew they were beaten and we went to shut them out. There was literally nothing interesting to report from this game unfortunatly. But this 0-0 meant we go into the hat for the CL quarter final draw!
The quarter final draw was made a few days after the 2nd United game. The best draw for us would've been Porto, but instead we have to face PSG in a repeat of last years EL final. But this time it was over 2 legs which makes them a much harder team to beat.
PSG vs BMG
We had to travel to Paris for the first leg. It got off to a dream start when Sorensen gave us a first minute lead. But PSG, roared on by the home crowd, came back at us and raced into a 3-1 lead. That was the score at half time, but just 2 minutes after the second half began, Ayew pulled a goal back to set up a potential draw or win. Unfortunatly for us, PSG remained in control and held out for a 3-2 win. Shaw and Zouma suffered injuries in this game, but both should be able to make their returns in the return leg.
The second leg started off well, but then in the 26th minute, our brightest attacking player Ayew, had to go off injured. An already hard task made harder. PSG obviously feeling sorry for us, gave us a chance to level the aggregate scores from the spot, but Raffael couldn't finish it and missed the spot kick. From then on PSG took the game to us and pinched the lead 1 minute before half time through Cavani. We would have many shots in the last 45 minutes, but none went in. Depay then put PSG 2-0 up and all but sealed progression for the French team. The game did eventually finish 0-2 (2-5) but we can take great pride having beaten Chelsea away and then dumped out United without even conceding. All thats left now is to try and progress in the cup and take 2nd place in the league.
DKB-Pokal Semi Final
The win in March over Schalke sent us into a DFB-Pokal semi final against Hertha Berlin. We were the better team for a majority of the game but Hertha weren't just going to roll over and let us win. We had to dig deep after that CL exit but Granit Xhaka scored in injury time to see us progress to the final where we will meet Augsburg!
March - April Results
March and April saw our worst run of form since I took over at the start of last season. We went through a period of just 1 win in 7 games, and that was a scrappy game against a team heading for relegation. Not great form heading into the cup semi final, but we won that game and it kickstarted our form once more in time for a very important end of the season.
League Standings
Bayern ran away with the league as you'd expect. But the battle for 2nd will go to the last day. For some reason the Bundesliga is ending a lot earlier than it did last season, although that could be because of the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament. The final day clash will see us fight directly against Dortmund to see who finishes as runner up. We are at home, but Dortmund only need a draw and are expected to win. Lets see what happens!
bmg033
So it was BMG vs Dortmund on the final day to decide 2nd place in the league. Only real difference is in the prize money, but we came 3rd last season so i'd quite like to improve on that.
It all started in the 5th minute when Sokratis got booked. You can see where that is going already! Dortmund then took the lead through Kevin Grosskreutz on 19 minutes and then from kick off, Dortmund won the ball back and went 2-0 up on 20 minutes. But the chaos didn't stop there as Sokratis then gave away a penalty, picked up another yellow card and got sent off in the 21st minute. Andre Ayew converted from the spot in the 22nd minute to pull it back to 1-2. A mad few minutes but despite coming out of it all a goal down, we had the initiative due to having a man advantage. Peniel Mlapa, the guy thats been playing while Kruse is out, then equalised towards the end of the first half. Despite our man advantage, it still remained an end to end game, but we eventually completed the comback when Andre Hahn scored in the 66th minute. From then on we held Dortmund off and claimed victory and 2nd place in the league! That meant we won just over £33m in prize money!
Final League Standings
Here is confirmation of our 2nd place finish. Only 1 league game has been played since the last update, but it was an important one.
2016 DKB-Pokal Final
Ever since Bayern and Dortmund got knocked out early in the competition, I felt confident that we could add this trophy to our collection following last seasons EL success. Augsburg must have been incredibly low on confidence coming in to this game as they had just been relegated from the Bundesliga while winning less games than any other team.
The best way for us to approach them was to go all out attack and destroy any fight they had in them early. It turned out that they didn't really have any fight in them at all. Sorensen scored his 8th goal of the season to put us 1-0 up early on, and then the flood gates opened. Peniel Mlapa then scored a 14 minute hat trick to put us into a 4-0 lead after just 22 minutes! That was pretty much game over and the only real thing worthy of reporting from the rest of the game was Ayews late penalty to make it 5-0. Augsburg were truly awful and I could see why we wouldn't be seeing them in the Bundesliga next season, they didn't even manage a shot on target.
CUP CHAMPIONS 2016
So the 2015-16 season has finished. It was a great season for us, 2nd in the league, cup winners and also a good run to the quarter finals in the CL. Next season the target has to be to see if we can take the title from the powerhouse that is Bayern Munich. Thats not going to be easy, but with Kruse back and a few new faces coming in, we can really push on to the next level.
End of season awards to come in the next update.

Thanks, I didn't expect to be doing this well but if we keep it up then hopefully we'll start to challenge Bayern soon.

The league title would be nice, but it'll be so hard against Bayern.
My relationship with the board isn't really great at the moment, I don't understand the logic behind any of the decisions they are making . But the board are realising that i'm getting pissed off with them and are constantly offering me a new contract. My current deal has 1 year left to run but i'm not sure whether to sign a new deal or let it run down. I'm thinking maybe just forget about the Champions League and DFB-Pokal and go all out to win the Bundesliga as a last hurrah. Who knows I might stay on after that, or maybe test myself in a different league. Any opinions would be great.
simoncoyne
Or you could go to another country and try the same thing. Maybe France to take on PSG, or Spain and bust up the Barca/Real duopoly with a team like Atletico or Valencia.
But if you think you've got more to do with Gladbach, stick around. See how season #3 goes. They'll keep offering you contracts, particularly if you're doing well.
bmg033
Yeah I was thinking about taking on PSG or Barca and Real, but I really want to beat Bayern first. I might reject the contract, go all out to win the league and see where it takes me. Just hope my reputation can land me a top job somewhere!

Thanks! Well Bayern had won the league anyway so even if they had slipped up it wouldn't have changed anything.

Wow Zidane as Leeds manager
simoncoyne
Did you express interest in either of those jobs? I say you should have aimed to take over for Floop...
Dan
Hes manager of Austria Wien on my save!

This could be its own thread - Where in the World is Zizou?
bmg033
Yep, Guardiola leaving has made my task slightly easier. Hopefully we can do it this season!
Nope. I had a long think about applying for the Dortmund job, but in the end I thought that I should stay with BMG and see out my contract. I've spent 2 years building a potential title winning team, so with this season looking the most likely for a title win to happen, I had to stay and try and finish the job.
bmg033
Bad news. Dortmund activated a £14m release clause in Andre Hahn's contract.
But the good news is that 2 days before Dortmund came in, I had actually offered Hahn a new deal that included raising the release clause to £35m. He accepted it
Suck on that Dortmund.
bmg033
No major transfers out, but some good ones coming in! It was easily the best transfer window we've had since I arrived, it was hard work with a £17m transfer budget but i'm pleased.
DFL Supercup
This wasn't really a trophy i'm too bothered about, but its still nice to win something especially against Bayern. It was 4-3 on penalties in the end.
Champions League Group
As mentioned previously, I will be putting a majority of my work and attention into winning the Bundesliga. But this is a very winnable group, so it might be worth taking this group seriously. If we can win it, that will give us, hopefully, a good draw in the next round. Who knows what could happen from there.
July - August Results
Its been a good start to the season. We've dominated our oppostion in both league games so far and have easily progressed into the DKB-Pokal 2nd round after a 4-0 win against lower league Auersmacher. Pepe is still the Pepe we all know as he got sent off on his league debut against Hamburg. Some things never change.
League Standings
Not much to report after 2 games, but we sit in 4th with 6 points.
simoncoyne
I say that all the time!
