Accrington Stanley
Accrington Stanley are a club based in Lancashire, they play their home games at the 5000 capacity Crown Ground and are currently in League 2.
After finishing in 15th place last season, I want to rebuild the squad into a major league 2 force that pushes for promotion with us hopefully gaining promotion to league 1 in no more than 4 seasons. The squad features some players with good potential and I want to nurture them into good players that can push us on, there is also some unwanted deadwood which I am to offload as soon as possible, but with a projected balance of -£973k this season it will be difficult to build on the squad of players we already have.
Here is the initial squad
As you can see a lot of players with potential.
Tommo.

Johnny Gorman - Free from Barrow
Possesses some solid stats for a winger, and currently at 4* according to my scouts and assistant manager.
Ryan Fulton - On loan from Liverpool
Desperately needed an half decent keeper, as the other two aren't currently league 2 standard. Fulton is rated 3* by my scouts and assistant manager.
Pre Season Results
Handled by my assistant manager, got an unbelievable result against Blackburn and not too bad against MK Dons but disappointing against Sutton.

A great start to the season saw us win 1-0 against Southend with a 91st minute winner from McCartan and a clean sheet to top it off. We were unable to carry on in the league cup as Bradford's 4th minute goal was enough to knock us out. A thrilling 3-3 draw that we should have won, after missing a penalty Proctor scored the equaliser with 6 minutes left. The next was another high scoring game in which we went 4-0 down after just 14 minutes, Mingoia bagged a brace to get the score to 4-2 before Shrewsbury finished off the game just after half time. The Luton game was a huge disappointment after equalising in the 89th minute from the penalty spot, but straight from the restart Luton went up the other end and scored. The performance against Bury was poor, a boring match which Bury won with two late goals. We only had 1 shot on target.
August saw us concede 14 goals in 6 games, many coming from set pieces, an issue which will need to be addressed. A not so good start to the season with just one win.
Johno
Good luck.

Nicky Featherstone - Free from Harrogate
A solid player to bulk up the midfield
Brian Saah - 43k from Dag & Red
Another solid player, this time a CB with good physical stats, hopefully to sure up the defence

Completed Transfers
Sold Aldred for a good price after Ross County came in for him.
Here's the squad

A disappointing victory in the JPT to Preston but they were by far the better side, second game of the month against recently relegated Tranmere saw us go 4-0 up before half time, we took our foot off the gas at half time and it cost us 2 goals which was disappointing. A solid 1-0 victory with a clean sheet against Wimbledon was very satisfying. Oxford took the wind out of our sails with a 2 nil defeat at home before we bounced back away at Northampton with a 2-1 victory, we finished the month on a high against struggling side Plymouth winning 1-0 and keeping a clean sheet in the process.
League Table
Extremely suprised with our progress considering we are meant to be fighting for promotion. After just 1 league defeat in 5 games sees us sit healthily in 9th place, level on point with 7th place! Very happy with how we have been performing recently, some lovely football which has seen us dominating games and scoring some great goals, hopefully we can continue and dare I say push for promotion?

Results in October
A difficult start to the month against Mansfield in a 4-2 defeat before we bounced back in the next game vs Dag and Red with a solid 3-0 victory with a clean sheet, in the next a thrilling 4-4 draw against Stevenage with 6 goals coming in the first half. A late goal from Bowerman against Hartlepool saw us seal a tight game with a victory, A game against Newport which we probably didn't deserve to win ended 1-0 with McCarten getting the only goal after 10 minutes, holding on for the clean sheet away from home was extremely satisfying considering the amount of goals we have been letting in. The loss at the end of the month to Morecambe was difficult to watch, Morecambe went 4-1 up before we scored a consolation goal.
League Table after 16 games
5th place after 16 games Cannot believe it, I still don't think well keep it up but we will see!

Results in November and December
3 defeats at the start of November and it looked as if it would be a tough month, Southend got revenge after our 1-0 victory over them in the first game of the season, boring game and we didn't deserve anything out of it. A visit to Carlisle saw 4 shipped past us, another game in which were not at the races and looked poor in defence. The disappointing run continued at home to Cambridge when 5 goals were put past us, after the game I thought that the losses were going to pile up and going into the next game at Exeter I could only see a loss.
The lads seemed to book their ideas up and put in a performance for the fans, we dominated the game and fell short of getting a rare clean sheet when Exeter scored in the 89th minute to make it 3-1 to us, thankfully the game was wrapped up. A long trip south was next for us against 2nd placed Portsmouth, a game in which we set out just to get anything out off, we actually took the lead in the 76th minute after a stalemate of a game but we were pegged back a minute later. The final game of the year, 2 days after Christmas at home to Burton was an absolute Christmas Cracker when 4 goals within 20 minutes saw the game at 2-2 and the next goal would be crucial, thankfully we scored that goal and Burton pushed to get another equaliser but we killed the game off after a poor clearance from the Burton keeper saw Naismith pick up the ball from 55 yards, lift his head up and hit it into the far corner of the net to get one of the goals of the season so far as well as the goal of the month award, somehow Naismith claims to have scored better but I don't believe him.
League Table after 21 games
A few bad results in the two months sees us drop to 9th in the table, but we secured a good result against title contenders Portsmouth and important results against teams around us to stay close to the play off spots also with 2 games in hand over 7th placed Morecambe.
Thanks to the good unexpected success we've had so far, the board offered me a new 1 year deal which I duly accepted.

Exeter took the lead before we scored 3 in as many mintues with Bowerman getting two, 9 minutes after the restart Mingoia won a penalty after cutting inside the box, Bowerman stepped up with a hat trick in mind and missed after a poor penalty fortunately it bounced back out and he slotted home. A fourth for Bowerman came 2 minutes later after Mingoia latched onto a long ball and served the ball on a silver platter for Bowerman to slot home. Winnard scored his 2nd and our 6th from a corner. Proctor made it 7 from 25 yards out.
FINAL SCORE: Exeter 1 - 7 Accrington Stanley
I cannot fault the lads for the performance apart from the goal we conceded, wow. I am speechless.
HAHAHAHAHA - Ordinary performance.

End of season league table
Big drop in form resulted in a big drop in the table, 5th at one point and we ended up finishing 18th. We were asked to battle relegation and we escaped it but my expectations changed when we started performing well and I am disappointed that we finished where we did. A lot of goals were conceded at the very start of games and we had a lot of games that ended up with the opposition scoring in injury time, we also missed a lot of easy chances and it cost us a lot.

I know, hopefully can finish higher this season!

Pre Season Friendlies
Transfers
Pleased with business done in the transfer windows, could have done with another defensive midfielder but a lot of players I found lacked quality.
Got some great free transfers though. Lost Kal Naismith to Dundee on a free which was shit but he didn't want a new contract, the rest of the out's were surplus to requirements.

August Results
Well, what can I say. We carried on our poor form from the end of last season with 3 defeats in a row, first of all against newcomers Braintree in which we were 2-0 down and looked out of it before we salvaged two goals back before half time and looked the better side before Braintree scored two more to take all 3 points. We followed up with a poor performance against Derby with 0 shots on target, and eventually lost 2-0. We went on to lose to Notts County, a game which we were in until the very end before they finished us off with a late goal, whilst it was a much more pleasing performance we still lost. The run of losses ended when we drew against Wycombe, a game which we should have won with several golden opportunities before another defeat followed against Colchester, a poor performance resulted in a poor result. We finally won against Morecambe at the end of the month, a relieving victory which saw us run out as comfortable winners in the end. Four players in and Seven players out means that players are in a phase of getting to know each other and the results have shown, hopefully we can push on from the good win against Morecambe.
September Results
The start of September saw us start our JPT campaign against League 1 opposition, Carlisle were the visitors to the Crown Ground and boy were they shocked after we charged out of the blocks and scored in the 14th and 15th minute, before and two more on in the 29th and 35th minutes respectively. A goal just after half time saw a tiny bit of hope for Carlisle, but another goal for us in the 51st minute duly finished them off before they got another consolation late on. A 1-1 draw against Hartlepool followed with both teams converting penalties, A 4-2 win against Colchester which was over before half time when we put four goals past them, we allowed them to get 2 back after taking the foot of the gas in the second half. Our first defeat in four came away at Bury after a late goal saw them take all three points after an even game, a draw against Tranmere saw us let a two goal lead slip after dominating the first half. The final game of the month saw us comfortable dispatch Mansfield 3-0, keeping our first clean sheet in 27 competitive matches.
League Table
Sitting lowly in 17th position but just 5 points separate us from 7th place.
Signings are starting to show some good form and seem to be fitting in well with the squad, hopefully we can push on against another team in League 1 in the JPT after a great win in the first round.

October Results
The start of October saw us pick up all three points against Cambridge Utd, scoring four good goals in the process. A win in the second round of the JPT away to Shrewsbury was great for us especially pleased with our second clean sheet in three games! Our four game run came to an end when we were duly undone by a strong Rochdale side that dominated us throughout and eventually came out as 3-1 winners. Two equally satisfying draws against York and Oxford followed before we put in a strong performance against Northampton keeping another rare clean sheet. The final game of the month saw us draw with a solid Luton side; we were unfortunate not to get the 3 points after they snatched a late equaliser.
A pleasing month on the whole, as we picked up some important points against bigger sides such as Luton Town, being in the hat for the next round of the JPT also a great achievement as we haven’t progressed even past the first round in any cup before!
November Results
The start of November saw us play two cup fixtures back to back, first of all against Oldham in which we narrowly lost out 1-0. In the next, an incredible performance which I didn’t think was even possible against League 1 opponents Port Vale saw us take a 5-0 lead before the pulled three goals back with 20 minutes to go, three League 1 scalps in the JPT sees us progress into the Semi Finals of the Northern section!
After our magnificent performance against Port Vale, we became complacent and lost two high scoring games to both Plymouth and Barnet, disappointing since our recent run of good form, however a solid performance and result against Dagenham ended the month on a high!
League Table
We move up 1 place from the end of September.

Thanks Dan. Love a good cup run, long may it continue! Yeah a bit up and down at the moment, new players seem to be fitting in well though!

December Results
A friendly against Southport (for fitness) started off December; before we kicked another League 1 team out of the JPT with a 2-1 win over Walsall to progress to the Final of the Northern section! A clean sheet and 1-0 win over Wimbledon followed before two narrow defeats to Stevenage and Burton sees us enter the New Year in 15th place.
League Table
January Results
We dispatched 5 past Braintree to grab our first win of the New Year and grab revenge after our opening day defeat, draws against Newport and Notts County followed both games we could have taken all three points in if our players had converted golden opportunities.
First leg of the final: a 3-1 loss to Bradford means we face one hell of a battle to get through to the overall final of the competition. We were outdone by a good side, and grabbed a crucial goal 7 minutes before time to give us some hope at the Crown Ground.
A good reaction to loss at Bradford saw us pick up three points against Wycombe, but a loss followed in the 7 goal thriller at Colchester, an even game which could have swung either way, unfortunately it didn’t swing in our favour. A bore draw at Morecambe was in fact a good result away from home; the big positive was keeping a clean sheet.
League Table
Up 1 place from December but no improvement from the end of November.
