History
Sydney FC are a football team based in Sydney, Australia. They play their home games at Allianz Stadium in Moore Park. They compete in Australia's top flight football competition, the Hyundai A-League. Sydney FC are considered to be one of the most successful Australian teams ever, having won the Hyundai A-League twice, one Premiers Plates and are the only Australian team to win the OFC Champions League, a feat achieved in 2005. Sydney has been home to many famous international football legends such as Dwight Yorke, Juninho and Alessandro Del Piero as well as having some of the best Australian footballers such as John Aloisi, Brett Emerton and Steve Corica. However, in recent seasons, Sydney has struggled and have only made the play-offs twice since last winning the A-League in 2009-10.
Objectives
The objectives I have set for Sydney are:
  • Win the A-League
  • Win the AFC Champions League
  • Win the FFA Cup
  • Make Sydney the most successful club in Australia and Asia.
Pre-season in next update.

This is a succession to my FM14 story with Sydney FC. I hope to be able to lead Sydney to become the best team in not only Australia, but in Asia as well.

Might want to start by becoming the best team in Sydney first!

Bit of info on me.

A bit of info on the club, which I basically summarized. Our facilities aren't the best, but I asked the chairman for an upgrade, and he agreed.

Three of my players made the All Stars team to play Napoli, which is a great achievement. That front line would dominate in the A-League.

I wanted to get rid of him as he was on $12,000 p/w. That's more than double of the second highest weekly wage. It also frees up an Australian Marquee spot, which I've decided I'm not going to use until next season, because there is a few Australians in Europe that are off-contract at the end of the year that I'm looking out for.

I'm relying on loans this season, but what loans they are. Mason has absolutely dominated in pre-season. I hope I can extend his loan periof at the end of the season, he will be a top, top player for me. Rogic is a hot Australian prospect and is off-contract in a couple of seasons, so should Celtic not re-sign him, I'll welcome him with open arms. Good is another one I'm looking to sign if Newcastle don't resign him. Cornthwaite is a good quality Australian center-back who has played for the Socceroos 8 times scoring 3 times. Got him on the cheap, and can now link up with Sasa Ognenovski at the back. It also gives me depth after I let Matthew Jurman go on a free.

I have signed most of the player's who are off contract at the end of the season. There is only a couple I'm holding off from offering a new contract: Sasa Ognenovski and Pedj Bojic. I also have the opportunity to sign Bernie Ibini at the end of the season.

After beating Wellington in the first round, I'm paired up with our biggest rivals, Melbourne Victory (known as the Tards by the Sydney FC faithful).
http://i.imgur.com/aS0Ierb.jpg
And they played like Tards too, getting absolutely torn to shreds by Smeltz and Mason (to be fair, aren't that quick). They ghosted past the defense like they weren't there. A great pre-season,, going through undefeated and only conceding twice. We are looking good heading into the first game of the season, against Melbourne City.

A few injuries during pre-season, but I'll only be missing Janko and Dimitrijevic for the Melbourne game.

I'll update on a bi-monthly basis, starting with the first two months of the season, which'll recap the transfer window and results of the the first few rounds of the season as well as my progress in the FFA Cup.

Cheers mate. I'm surprised I got Mason, he had a host of lower-league English clubs going for him, but he chose Sydney instead. Good choice, in my opinion

Just like a pom, choosing Australia over Blackpool. He'll make some money, complain about the weather, get sunburned, and fuck off back to England.

Decided to terminate his contract as I couldn't see a future at the club for him. Petkovic was coming back from injury, and I also want to give young Alex Gersbach some game time. I even have Ali Abbas as cover. And I have plenty of options for RB.

Hyundai A-League
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/OnRT4z22MYfl2B1cJIN2zR4WrZCKDQM1mGy49FUh.jpg
A disappointing way to start the season as we blew a 2 goal lead to draw at home to Melbourne City. Peter Triantis opened the scoring with a cracker from 25 yards before Ibini tapped in after 50 minutes. But after the 70 minute, we fell asleep and they scored twice in 4 minutes to snatch a draw. I made my feelings perfectly clear to the team.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/B7ST4JYtvTFrk892fVJc5YdLGMqIG5y2yo5XMOFu.jpg
We followed the draw with City with an even more disappointing derby loss to WSW. They blew us apart and raced to a 3-0 lead before Alex Brosque pulled one back just before the half. Ibini gave us a glimmer of hope but Iaccapo La Rocca ended all hope with a 30 yard belter in the 83rd minute. Very disappointing.
FFA Cup
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/CKuFJD0qfqTaiSEoUxfpBYxhZYwvtJfIJSYhXKll.jpg
We played the Wanderers three days later in the FFA Cup. What followed was downright embarrassing. Robbie Cornthwaite scored a calamitous own-goal to put them in front before Golgol Mebrathu scored the first of two to put them 2 up at the break. Rhyan Grant was cruelly sent off for a professional foul in the 51st minute and from there, we collapsed, conceding twice coutersy of Mebrathu and Labinot Haliti. I'm very disappointed. We could have won the cup but it wasn't to be.
Hyundai A-League
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QYgDx4vgdZu5oiVXrKYkOtggbOrIhSGrdT92hUMi.jpg
We traveled to Brisbane for a game against the Roar. The match was even until Matt McKay broke the deadlock after 64 minutes. That did nothing to deter the boys and we equalised thanks to some Bernie Ibini magic in the 71st minute. It was a great turn-around from the two WSW defeats.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FDgfS74bO3TLolvIDpPGpJ3RJFup1sFYvrAX9tVX.jpg
We were so unlucky against the Mariners, but it was our own fault. We had numerous opportunities to score, but we didn't convert. Glen Trifiro scored the late winner with a beauty from 20 yards. Ognenovski was sent off deep into injury time for a horrific challenge that was lucky not to injure the player.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/YKQ288yuSkh1hntdVgf6ODuTVyYSmphkYTleewPT.jpg
We traveled to Adelaide with low spirits after the Mariners game. We welcomed back Ryan Mason from injury, and boy didn't we miss him. He was a class above the rest, finding space all over the park, dribbling past his man with ease and being a menace to the opposition. He performance was capped off with two great goals in the 32nd and 72nd minute. He was our match winner and duly raised the morale of the squad.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/UetEBqOXDPth9zQuVY3LR7Q0kfFSoWTFrKR9o0S6.jpg
We welcomed the Tards for the first 'Big Blue' of the season. It was a pretty even match until Gui Finkler scored a header from a corner in the 72nd minute. That deflated the boys and we had a number of opportunities to equalize, but failed to do so, which results in my 2nd derby loss of the year so far.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ezVDVIKb7GhQkgqpMLhzpZowCN5ncSEg6UwlTTPr.jpg
We went into enemy territory to play Melbourne City for the second time this year and try to extract revenge for the 2-2 draw in the opening round. We held them off until Marc Janko scored his first league goal of the campaign to give us a well-deserved 1-0 win away from home. It was a great result considering they were second on the table at the time of this fixture.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/R454yTwrqs0NuV57erMxi7RqWn5PzOpUzYrrZ6os.jpg
We rounded out November with our second Sydney Derby of the year. It could not have started worse, with Sasa Ognenovski picking up his second red card of the season after a second bookable offense in the 40th minute. I was livid. WSW took advantage of the extra man and scored two quick goals after the break with Sotiro and Baccus scoring within 3 minutes of each other. We looked down and out until Bernie Ibini struck a rocket from the edge of the box that flew right into the top corner that gave us hope. We then suddenly sparked to life, creating opportunities left, right and center before Ali Abbas scored his first league goal of the season to make it 2-2 and complete the comeback. Shane Smeltz could have won it in the 91st minute but his shot came off the bar. Great comeback from the boys.
Ladder
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/hNVV25o5Bx5wOVxciOmEiZ8csoWicntSo81ADFnl.jpg
Our lack of converting chances into goals and draws into wins means we finish November in 7th spot on 9 points after 8 games, 2 points off last placed Newcastle but only 5 points off leaders Melbourne City, who we beat 1-0 in November.
Injuries
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RVkAtMyKoQnpIVzaJVJRPUJ2pAMu2aFTOapGasdZ.jpg
Not a major loss but still annoying considering it happened on international duty.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/sHUjrAqeXs2uzuPqJ4KT5DOWaHss2GDt5hZ36O6j.jpg
A big loss, since we a short on numbers in left back. He was replace by Bojic until he was released when Nikola came back, but now I have LB options in Petkovic, Abbas, Gersbach and Grant.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Q531Z7ZbNwyhALGQGPIfp4tUki3DLM5mjWJJ71FP.jpg
This was during the last game of November, which was really annoying since I wanted to bring on Tom Rogic to add an attacking threat. But this forced me to bring on Ali Abbas, who went on to become a super sub and score the equalizer against WSW.

December and the first month of 2015 in the next update.

Since there was only two games in January (because of the Asian Cup) I decided to play an extra month of fixtures, which leads in nicely for the last two months of the season in the next update.

December
Hyundai A-League
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/m9qpgxK6f4XzEp51drIciuo3zI0DRj684kZ5ootP.jpg
We started off December in the best possible manner, with a 3-0 smashing of Perth at home. After a slow start, Shane Smeltz, who has been in great form this season, scored before adding a second in the 77th. Ali Abbas rounded off the win with a nice finish in thee 84th minute.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/z3M5L3ooQO2cARnFYnnTOGagZ6GbkFoWHz2FCpLo.jpg
A trip down to Melbourne to play the Tards and we destroyed them, winning 2-0 and holding onto possession for 95% of the match. They were chasing shadows the whole match, they couldn't contain us, it was a joy to behold.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/lWIAn06lz5kMIpmUavN3COiyks3XHVs9ypCwuZuw.jpg
We were back at home for a visit from the Phoenix and it was a tight affair. Bernie Ibini continued his fine form by scoring to give us the lead at the break. Nathan Burns equalised soon after the break but Smeltz continued his impressive scoring streak, scoring two minutes after Burns which gave us the win in an equal affair which could have gone either way.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0aW4e5OD2zV3fYrR94PlAlSKflnSDYkMu92hXUzw.jpg
We backed up with a Boxing Day clash with Adelaide. Things didn't start well as they opened the scoring in the 1st minute of play when Marcelo Carrusca played a nice 1-2 with Bruce Djite to open the scoring. We pulled one back through a Nikola Petkovic free-kick but went into the break 2-1 down after Sergio Cirio scored in stoppage time. Slowly we gathered momentum and broke down their defense which allowed Terry Antonis to score a driven shot after 73 minutes. 4 minutes later, we were ahead through a Ryan Mason worldie from 35 yards out which caught the keeper off his line.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8HFezK1eYxORfCiE8zdKSXhhaJQqFgxyZBzD4nWC.jpg
Our undefeated month came to an end in the final minute of our last game of the year against Brisbane. After taking the lead through former Sydney player Dimitri Petratos, Bernie Ibini scored what I thought was the equaliser in the 87th minute. However, it was not to be as Thomas Broich latched onto an Henrique cross to tap home the winner in the 91st minute of the game. I was shattered as were the players. We deserved a point for that game.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FFgLyVAPzIKjnnKUgrA6gNrsHJzNEh6rIEILsUEl.jpg
Not good news. Janko pulled up after about 20 minutes into the 3-0 win, and it was a damaged Achilles which ruled him out for three months, although he returned for my last two games in February.

January

He came to me at the end of December and said he wanted to leave because Al-Kharitiyath were interested and I obliged. I wasn't going to re-sign him so why let him go on a free when I can get a bit of money on him.

Two great signings. Zullo is a current Australian international, and plays in a number of positions down the right and the left. He is entering the prime of his career and from what my scouts are telling me, he is a great signing. Brad Smith is a promising prospect who plays left back as well as left wing. He made 1 first team appearance during his time at Liverpool and they held him in high regard. And both of these transfers are on a free
Hyundai A-League

Not a great way to start the month, with a 3-3 draw against Newcastle after being up 3-0 at half-time. Alex Brosque scored early before Corey Gamiero scored a quick-fire double to give us a (surely) comfortable lead. But it wasn't to be, with Newcastle scoring three times through Flores and Montano (x2).
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6dSWjtDdt5fiV4qbCQn72EhE7icX7Ths1bBrz3T5.jpg
We then traveled down to Gosford (21 days later because of the Asian Cup) to play our bogey team Central Coast, who we haven't in a couple of seasons. Again we couldn't crack them as they scored two second half goals to take all three points.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/5Np8uJzsa0BIOFuLESAwKl5DNydqlkRs88JJhDLO.jpg
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/vVWLnkvK9AS7OcwcJ87RZ7zj0P1EZnsBYlmxGF8Y.jpg
Losing both starting central midfielders is a big blow, which meant we sometimes had a make-shift midfield if some players came off during a match. We had Ali Abbas and Tom Rogic cover during matches, but I got Milos back for the last couple of games for February.

February
Hyundai A-League
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PJEBeVjbSUDli9Oo83LuGKqvjNDsmWbZXY2kPXBx.jpg
Again another disappointing draw after again having a comfortable lead, this time away to Perth. After Smeltz's double and Bernie Ibini scoring for us to give us a 3-1 lead with 12 minutes to go, Daniel De Silva scored to make it 3-2 before Jamie Maclaren scored his second to tie it up at 3-3. Gutted we didn't finish it after playing well for the whole game.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/g49IfWQEDFdGrJochmbLQC81nTwTUQ3KXLqn8ssE.jpg
Again, another game in which we've lead before giving up the lead and then losing late, this time against the Victory at home. Alex Brosque opened the scoring with a poacher's goal after 61 minutes before Jesse Makarounas scored 4 minutes after. He scored his second and the winner (from an offside position) with 5 to play to steal it for the Tards. We didn't deserve to lose that, we were the better team the whole game.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/sAXBRhav3KUP5s8rLQcEIEMT6ekKN3Zste1F2UfF.jpg
For whatever reason. we played the Mariners again, at home this time. And after they went up 2-0, I thought 'Here we go again'. But an inspired comeback thanks to two goals form our top-scorer Bernie Ibini in the 71st and 79th minutes helped us come away with a hard-fought draw as we finally came away with a point against the Mariners.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/nOiHxoajfDDXiRlgIRt4TMvQda7nBPNZlKcOZrbB.jpg
Final game of February took us to Parramatta for the 4th Sydney Derby of the year. We were confident leading up to the game and held them out before our two experienced forwards Shane Smeltz and Alex Brosque scored within a minute of each other to give us the advantage before Brosque added his double late on to seal the game and give us bragging rights over the Wanderers until at least the play-offs. It was a great result and it pleased both the team and the fans who were delighted in the amount of opportunities we had to score.
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0jXsiDPKvhJtUJ5D1UPB5jVWegpR3tTyyxM61DzJ.jpg
Lost him the day before the Wanderers game and it looks like he could miss the rest of the regular season, which is a big blow. Hopefully our depth at the back can lead us to glory.

As I mentioned at the beginning, the final two months of the regular season in the next update.
