Our next game was against Maidenhead, just one place and 2 points ahead of us, so this was a big game. A win here would move us above Maidenhead and push us closer to those play off positions!

The first half here was slow and both teams seemed to be struggling to put their stamp on the game. At half time, I simply let the team know that the win was there for the taking!

The second half kicked off, and we were on top, plugging away to try and get that first goal. It wasn't to be though, as Maidenhead took the lead after 63 minutes. The lads were determined though, and they kept pushing up the field to get that equaliser. The pressure worked too, as Maidenhead scored an own goal. It was all to play for now, and we pushed and pushed, eventually scoring the winner in the 87th minute. Two wins on the bounce and we were loving life!!

Hi Johno. It was good to have only lost about 8 maybe 9 games. I was absolutely gutted when I thought I had lost the entire seasons work. Onwards now though!!!

Fresh after our two wins, we travelled to Havant and Waterlooville for another league fixture. We were two places above our opposition and a win here would be great, especially as we're only 6 points away from the play offs!

An atrocious first half was fully summed up by going into the changing rooms 4-0 down. I'm not sure how we had gone from two solid wins to a dismal performance such as this, but the second half was now all about damage limitation.

The second half performance was much better from the lads, with us winning 2-1. However, that doesn't help the original 4-0 deficit, and the game was lost 5-2. Some positives in the second half, including a brace from Tom Collins, meant that we had something to look back on.

More league action now, with an away fixture at Maidenhead. After beating Maidenhead on our own turf just 5 days ago, we were confident that we could win again, this time in their back yard. Tom Collins was to start up front after his impressive 45 minutes in the previous game, and our reserve goalkeeper was also going to be given some game time.

A close first half was very narrowly edged by Maidenhead, who had a 1-0 lead at the half time whistle. The lads were told that they have been unlucky and to keep on pressing the opposition.

The second half contained an own goal from Maidenhead, bringing the scores back to level ground. However, on this occasion it was Maidenhead who went on to get the winning goal, giving us our second loss in two games.

Our next fixture was away to Bishops Stortford, a game that could easily be won by ourselves.

The first half was a rather slow affair, and we both went in at the break with a goal each. The second half came and went, with the only talking point being a goal for Bishops Stortford. Another loss for the lads, and things needed to change.

Heartbreaking moment to concede at last minute goal.

It was gutting indeed! Looking to bring in a solid goalkeeper soon as goals are leaking in left, right and centre. I'm just stuck at work at the moment so can't play until later this evening. That is also heart breaking!

***IDIOT WARNING***

Well, my laptop decided to crash, meaning that the game didn't save. So, back to the Havant and Waterlooville game again. One more mishap with this save game and I am starting a new one. So far it's been my error once, and my laptops error once (in all fairness my laptop is getting old now)

OK so we're back onto the game, and it's that game against Havant and Waterlooville again. Before my laptop crashed, they won 3-2, so I feel like a bit of a cheat if we win here. I decided that I would sign the goalkeeper that I got before the crash, Mirko Ranieri and that I would go on holiday until after the Chelmsford game, just to get back to where we were.

Before the crash, we narrowly lost to Havant and Waterlooville 3-2, before edging out a 4-3 victory against Chelmsford.

This time? We lost 2-0 to Havant and we destroyed Chelmsford, bagging 6 goals in that game. So we still got our loss and win and I don;t feel too bad. Still annoyed that the laptop didn't play ball!

Our next game was against lowly Gosport, who have been at the foot of the table for some time now. This was a great chance for us to grab another win and restart our assault on those play off places.

At half time, we were 2-0 down. A team that haven't had a win in ages were looking like they were going to grab 3 massive points from us, and the team were made aware that I was not happy in the slightest. We needed to turn this around and grab 3 goals in the second half.

We managed to grab a goal in the 57th minute and we were constantly pressing for another to level the scores. However, Gosport held strong, even managing to bag another to give themselves a 3-1 win and we were left humiliated!

***UH OH***

After the last game against Gosport, it would seem that the board are starting to lose patience in my results, or lack thereof. They called a meeting to discuss the result, advising that non attendance would result in termination of my managerial contract!!

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/lP6o2kUMmGSuTKH8PSg88Bez1h3IAyVeWbBnymHB.png

I told the board that we lost due to poor tactical decisions by myself, but they advised that this was a poor excuse. So, ultimately, I promised that future results would be better. This is now do or die, as my career is on the line in my very first season!!!

***January Roundup***

Well, this month wasn't the best in my career, and ultimately led to the board giving me an ultimatum; improve the results or pay with your job. A loss to Gosport, the worst side in the league by a country mile, did not help and I can only say that the board was justified to be upset.

This game could well be over this evening, as I have a funny feeling that after my meeting with the board, anything other than a victory in the next fixture will result in being fired. The big question is: what do I do if that happens?

I don't mind doing any of the following:
  • Start a new save at Hayes and Yeading, making a challenge of surpassing my own record of this career (shouldn't take too muh effort to be honest)
  • Continue this career as unemployed and try to get another job, continuuing from there
  • Retire Barney Stinson, create a new manager and take the open job at Hayes and Yeading
What would you guys like to see??

I decided to hold a team meeting. The team needed to know that although things aren't going well lately, we couldn't let our heads drop!!!

Most players responded positively, so hopefully my job may not be over just yet. And here we go. Possibly our last ever home game with Hayes and Yeading. A home game to Eastbourne, 4 places above us in the table.

We walked out onto the pitch, heads held high, hoping to prove that we are not a down and out team. We still had merit in the league and this was our time to prove it.

The whistle went to start the game, and we were looking good. Swift attacking movement coupled with a solid defence. Could I still be the manager after this game? With the first goal scored in the 24th minute, putting us 1-0 up, I certainly hoped so!!

Unfortunately, 3 minutes later, our right back scored an own goal to level the score. And at half time, it was 1-1. 3 subs to try and change our fortune, and the second half began.

A close encounter in the second half resulted in a goal being scored at the 84th minute. A goal for us. The final whistle went and we had done it, a 2-1 victory and my job was still safe, but for how long??

Our next fixture was an away game at Wealdstone. Not an easy ground to go to and pick up points, but if we wanted to start gathering any kind of momentum, we absolutely had to get the win this time!

After a boring first half with not a lot happening, it was Wealdstone who looked more like a team that wanted to win. After three changes at half time due to poor match fitness, we took to the pitch for the second half of the game, hoping to grab a vital 3 points.

During the second half, we were defending for our lives. Wealdstone kept coming at us and we had no answer. We just had to shut up shop, and the game ended 0-0, with our goalkeeper getting Man of the Match.

Next, it was off to Bromley, hoping to avenge that 5-1 hammering in the reverse fixture earlier this season. The lads knew that revenge for such a beating was a must, but with Bromley only 3 points behind us, we had to be wary of how the league table could easily change in just 1 game.

The first half wasn't the best we've ever played. With only one shot on target, we went in at half time losing 2-1. The game was still within reach though, and there was no reason we couldn't go on and take the 3 points.

Unfortunately, we couldn't find the net in the second half. Our general performance was much better though, and the future was looking bright if we could keep creating chances.

After a 14 day break, the lads headed to Bath for our next fixture. Bath City were only 4 points ahead of ourselves, but we had a game in hand, so this game had the potential to close that gap whilst still having the one game advantage.

In a goal filled first half, the teams went in at half time with ourselves marginally in the lead at 3-2. Goals were flying in, and at the moment we were on the right side of a one goal advantage. The goals were quickfire as well, with neither team holding an advantage for very long.

The half time team talk was simply to ask the players to keep up the hard work and produce more of the same in the following 45 minutes. All players responded well and looked geared up for the second half. A quick substitution was made, with Cliff Akurang making way up front for Joe Ansinyah, who has been struggling a little for form since his return from injury.

The second half began as a much less frantic affair, with not much happening until Bath grabbed a goal in the 69th minute. They then went on to 4-3 up after 72 minutes before we issued an immediate reply less than 90 seconds later! In the 85th minute, Bath scored what they thought would be the winner in the 85th minute. However, desperate not to have another loss, Saul Williams bagged a late, late equaliser, ending the game at 5-5. A thriller for the neutrals and a lot of positives to be seen. If only our defence was a little less seethrough!
