Alright Gents,

Hoping for a bit of help on this as I'm not the most tech-savy and it's really annoying me.

Basically I've got an Alienware Laptop that I spent a fair bit of money on about 18 months ago and all of a sudden it's decided to struggle when playing FM. It'll play for a little while and then suddenly freeze on a screen either loading a match, on the news, opening a player profile etc, just anything and I have to put the laptop into Sleep Mode and Awaken to see the game has moved forward. At a point last night it was doing it every 20 seconds or so.

I've removed all graphics, cleared the cache and preferences as everywhere seems to suggest and nothing seems to fix it.

Through a bit of further investigation, it appears to only happen when running off the battery. Is this some sort of power issue related to graphics? I hope someone can help as Alienware have been useless and I know we've got a fairly good tech community here.

Cheers

I suspect it is, as gaming graphics cards tend to be a big power draw, so your laptop may be throttling it when it's not plugged into the mains. Is there a specific power settings program that came with the laptop, or does it just use the standard windows settings?

Thanks for the reply Tom. It's just the standard settings, I've never had a problem with this until the past week or so

There's this:

It looks like this has been the case for years, looking at the age of some of the stuff I found.
