The intention is for this money to be used to fund a new, key player for next season.

Not sure one man will make much difference

No, we're all about team spirit and hard graft here but one key player can make the difference! Budgets are tight and getting smaller each year we're down here so anything the fans can do to help is a benefit. The Mariners Trust is doing a fantastic job so far.

I've never felt a buzz about the town as much as there has been in recent weeks since the playoff defeat. Next season really is our year.

If Plymouth get Clough in, i wish you good fucking luck.

There are a few on our forums that don't see past the name and are wet at the thought; but you've put me off over the months! APPARENTLY we interviewed Brian McDermott today, like fuck!

The favourite is still Graham Coughlan at the moment though.

Brian McDermott would be a very astute acquisition in League Two. he's currently a scout at Arsenal, so he must have an eye for a player!

Clough is a "relegation" survivor if you will, he's not got the mentality for promotion, but he'll rescue and stabilize the club in X division with ease. He's too defensive, he goes for ex players (mainly derby). Oh and you have to put up with his shit backroom staff too, who follow him wherever he goes.

It'll be painful to watch if you get him.

Get Blackwell in for a right laugh. His post-match interviews about being 14 points adrift and his 44% win percentage are comedy gold. His football will remind you of the good old times because it will be the seventies all over again! You'll also sign players you thought they died seven years ago.

What are you waiting for?! Get him now!

McDermott isn't a bad manager - done well with Reading and wasn't awful with Leeds despite horrendous circumstances.

A league 2 club would be lucky to have him, imo.

Given the above points you mentioned I'd highly doubt he'd join a League Two club. Given his previous success as manager I'd imagine he ain't that cheap too

Not sure about that, but you can have Adebayor, Chiriches and Kaboul if you want?

Aslong as Tottenham don't want a fee and will carry on paying them, we'll take them I'm sure

We signed Leon Clarke on a three-year deal today. Not too sure what to think about this. Obviously if he's fit he'll score goals. But he never sticks around for a longer period and his injury proneness are putting me a bit off. Still willed to give him a chance though.

Apparently Brian McDermott has been seen checking into a Plymouth hotel by someone today, and two or three people on our forum have said they've seen him. No one with a reliable history though, I just keep thinking they're shit stirrers; he won't drop to league two ffs.

Barry Corr has left Southend for Cambridge on a free, really not too sure why but he was very hit and miss on the field so shouldn't be a big miss. I'm hoping Joe Pigot is re-loaned next season as he looks quality.

Wouldn't say he's gonna be a prolific goalscorer as looks more of a creative striker. So certainly better in a pair than up on his own imo.

I await you signing Nathan Clarke and Tom Clarke at this rate

Always had time for Leon Clarke, honest pro. You seem to be putting a cracking squad together for a side newly promoted from League Two.

Yeah, he's honest but also a bit a of a moody guy. Just hope he can keep his temper and keep his focus on footballing matters.

But I agree, we#re getting a good squad together. Very good to see our board is not relying on the players we won promotion with but still looking to improve in any area in order to avoid a straight relegation at all costs. Other names being rumoured are Pope (Port Vale), Alessandra (Plymouth), Mellis (Barnsley) and McCourt (Notts), so I hope we're still getting 2 or 3 decent players in to be competitve

We've signed Marley Watkins from Inverness. Looking forward to seeing this lad at Oakwell.

Good signing is Clarke, but a three-year deal? Crazy.

Inevitable that you'll sign Paddy McCourt. Possibly the most skillful player I've ever seen at Oakwell. The problem is, he'll only do it for a couple of minutes a game, and the rest of the time he'll stand with his hands on his hips. Similar story to Mellis. All the ability, none of the application. Bone idle. Also, please sign Pope so we don't end up with him!

I only know of his failure at Millwall, which some are putting down just having a shit squad, and purely the West Ham connection and are talking up his spell in Scotland.

Whilst we're on the subject of new managers, I feel sorry for ours. For those of you who don't know, we've procured Sam Allardyce's long time assistant, Neil McDonald. Seems like a decent choice considering the poisoned chalice we are. Fans are too busy infighting and owners are too busy suing us, so his entire tenure might slip by unnoticed.

Probably taking a bit of a gamble with Clarke. Perhaps he comes good, then we can sell him on to a Championship side, like it's often been the case in his career.

As for McCourt, he's been on trial here at the start of last season, so Flickers should know what he gets. Wasn't bothered coming here when we were n League Two, so I don't think he should sign him now and give him another chance. As for Mellis, can't really comment on him but I believe he is not that kind of midfielder we really need. Also, we rarely sign players we're actually linked with. Both, Peter and Leon Clarke, came out of nowhere so I hpe Flickers still has something else up his sleeve

Mellis has a phenomenal amount of potential. Worth taking a gamble on imo - 12 month deal, option for another year. Of course, he may be regressing in his career as has happened to many a footballer. But that's football.

We're linked with Dean Whitehead and Gary Hooper (the latter on loan). After I've spent the best part of two years taking the piss out of Hooper's inability to hit the net in England, it would be sod's law if we signed him. The Wells to Burnley links are hotting up as well, which could explain the Hooper rumours.

Probably means Nardiello won't be signing a new contract and all that
