Gamepass to Steam help

I posted this on the official SI forum as well but I thought I'd post it here just in case someone else here has come across this problem and found a solution.

My friend and I were both playing a FM2020 save online, both using the Xbox Game pass version of the game. After all the problems with connecting and such on the game pass, we both bought the game on Steam so we can carry on together. However, when I join the online game (which is saved onto his computer) it brings me in as a new manager and I can' figure out how to take control of my team again.

Any suggestions?
