Devastated. Out of the Champions League.
Once we went three-one down I decided to go for a goal to put us through. It backfired massively and Jack Wilshere scored an own goal before Muniain hit us on the break when we went overload. Really didn't see that one coming, absolutely gutted.
Due to losing in the Play Offs, we are in the Europa League but that really doesn't feel like any consolation right now:

Fielded a weakened team because of our important match against Bilbao in a few days time and it backfired massively.
Battering.

We have one foot in the Champions League Group Stages after a good win against Athletic Bilbao. I'm gutted to have conceded that late away goal though but I still remain confident that we can do enough to progress.

First league match of the season ended with a win. Young-Joon and Apkom put us ahead before Leipzig got two quick goals which was worrying. However, step up super sub new signing Alberto Cerci who scored two late headers to win us the game.

Scraped past Third Division side Hallescher on penalties in the German Cup First Round. I would love to say that I fielded a weakened team... but I didn't. Quite worrying really.

Brilliant result which has seen us advance to the Champions League Play Offs. The front two of Cerri and Young-Joon were fantastic, especially Young-Joon who ended up with MOTM. I really think we should try and play this guy more this season if possible. He can turn into one of our main strikers I'm sure. Fingers crossed on an easy draw in the play offs.

Re-joins on loan for the season. He was here last season and provides us good back up across the back line.

Previously had a £9 million release clause and managed to raise this to £19 million. Had Liverpool sniffing around so happy to give him a new deal. Also, 2 days before our important match against Monaco this happens:
I also realised that if we manage to get past Monaco, we aren't through to the group stages, it's then the play off matches. Thought we would enter a bit later than we have done tbh.

Another new signing. The board had initially rejected this loan move but I kept trying and I am delighted to have got him. As you know, I let Podolski go and we needed some competition on the left hand side and this guy fits the bill. Spent last season on a season long loan at Fiorentina where he scored 8 goals and got an average rating of 7.16. I have one more signing in the pipeline, I just hope the board will allow it.

Now this is more like it from the board. We have signed England midfielder Jack Wilshere on loan for the season. Yes, everyone knows that he's injury prone as f*ck but if we can keep hm fit, we have a gem on our hands. We have some brilliant English centre midfielders now at the club with Wilshere, Mason, Powell and Morrison.

Think our performance against Monaco and the injury to Kelechi has given the board a reality check. Alberto Cerri has joined on loan from Juventus until the end of the season and will become the club's main striker. Losing Akpom and now Kelechi from last season leaves us very light up top so hopefully the board will allow me to bring in a striker to play alongside him. Cerri managed three goals for Juventus last season and managed fifteen goals for Fenerbache on loan two seasons back.

Managed to get an away goal which is vital in a game we somehow deserved to grab a point. It started off terribly when new signing Phil Jones was sent off for a professional foul only 16 minutes into his debut. Then this happened:
Kelechi Iheanacho was stretchered off after 30 minutes with a broken leg. I then brought on Ryan Mason who gave away a penalty which pretty much summed up my/our luck at the moment. Hwever, only two minutes later Mason made amends with a vital away goal. BELIEVE.

Despite having over £40 million in the bank, the board can't afford £8k a week in wages and just over £1 million in monthly fees collectively for the 12 months. Really not expecting much from this Monaco match.

Our new signing out for 4 months. We have a such a small squad at the moment of about 17 players and the more injuries we get, the more f*cked we will be. This season was meant to be the start of something great for us but the board just aren't letting it happen at the moment. Our squad is already so much worse than last season.

All of the players above have left the club. Players such as Podolski and Stefaniak, I didn't even want them to leave the club but did it so I could bring in some new players but the board aren't having any of it. I can't even bring anybody in on loan because the board won't pay any fee or wages despite being way under on our wages and also having money in the bank. For example, Sanogo was on £29k a week and Podolski and Stefaniak combined were on £60k but the board aren't giving us any money.
We have a worse squad than we did last season and just to add salt to the wounds, the draw for the Champions League play off has been made too and we probably have the hardest draw possible:

My first signing. I managed to get him on a free transfer after he was released from Chelsea. Value is £18.5 million which isn't too bad for a free. Should be an automatic starter.

C.K Vineeth was surprisingly my star player this season as the Indian left midfielder came up with 13 goals. Jeje, also did really well up top and managed to get 12 to his name. Like I said, the Indian lads here did really well this season so I won't be looking to make many changes there. I have some good young potential with some of the Indian lads and I'm very excited to see them develop. I have big decisions to make in regards to my 3 international slots (1 more Asian slot, also).
Should be an exciting time for the club. All in all, a brilliant season.

Christian Toonga, my central midfield loanee from AFC Wimbledon has been named the Young Player Of The Year for the Indian National League. It's a great achievement for the lad as he has done really well for me this season. His contract is up at AFC Wimbledon at the end of the season and he is open to discuss a permanent deal with us here. However, I am still unsure whether I will be looking to make a move. He's a good player but I am quite sure I can get better. In recent seasons I have brought Dida and El-Hadji Diouf to the club, this transfer window I am looking to bring in some big names.

The season has come to an end in what has been a brilliant season for us, definitely my best yet of this career. Firstly, we won the Federation Cup and were so close to reaching the group stages of the Asian Champions League. I gave myself a rough target of 10/12 years to make Mumbai FC the best club in India and I like to think that this is on track with our increased performance year on year. I stated that I would be happy with any place after 8th this season so to finish 4th is really pleasing. However, this success does push forward our expectations. Every season I want an improvement so next season, if I do not finish 3rd or above, it will be deemed as a failure.
In terms of the recruitment, I have some big decisions to make over the Summer. Our number one goalkeeper and Brazilian legend Dida will retire at the end of this season. I have not looked yet but I will be definitely looking to keep him at the club in some sort of coaching capacity. El Hadji-Diouf will be 39 years old and despite doing well this season, I need to make a decision on that one. Christian Toonga looks en route to winning the Player Of The Year but again, I'm undecided on whether I will be looking to keep him. In terms of my Indian players, I have been delighted with their progress this season and won't be making too many changes there.
Expecting quite a busy transfer window and then we can look forward to next season. One player whose reputation is continuing to grow is Jamie Pettit. He has been called up for the Australia World Cup squad. I doubt he will make the cut but to be honest, with a release clause of £35k I can't see him being with us much longer.

With ten games gone in the league, we have now reached the mid-point of the season. As you know, we managed to qualify for the Asian Champions League Qualifying Rounds after winning the Federation Cup. Unfortunately, we lost in the play off match and failed to reach the group stage of the competition. We managed to convincingly beat Malaysian side Selangor however Japanese side H.Tigre were too strong for us.
Despite our cup heroics, we have been pretty poor in the league. We had a strong start with two wins in our first four matches but in our final six games, we have only managed one win. In the Indian league, with the league only lasting twenty matches, any loss of form is massive. Some of my players have been brilliant this season and really shone for me. Toonga, who arrived on loan in the Summer from AFC Wimbledon has been a class above and C.K Vineeth has done well, which has been rarity for me on this career in terms of an Indian player impressing.
With ten matches to go, I am confident that we will be in a much better position than we are currently. Bengaluru FC won the league two seasons ago so it really does just show how open and unpredictable this league is. Last season we finished 8th in the league and despite our Federation Cup exploits, I am still aiming for 7th position. Every season I want to keep on improving so anywhere above 8th will be perfect for me. That is why I am liking this save, it's a long term goal which I am hoping to one day achieve. The board gave me a new deal which extends my contract here until the end of next season. I was hoping to have done some coaching badges by now but the board have refused every time I have asked.
In terms of transfer news, it looks like my Summer signing Jamie Pettit could soon be moving on to bigger and better things. He has missed a major part of this season so far for me as he was away playing with the Australian Under 23's in the Asian Cup. To be completely honest, I was expecting more from him so I am very surprised that PSG have shown an interest in him. Stats wise, he is easily my best player at the club (apart from El Hadji-Diouf and Dida but they are much older). When I signed him, he insisted on a clause in his contract which stated he could leave the club for £35k if any foreign side came in for him. Unfortunately, it does look like we will lose him sooner rather than later and even more annoying that it is only for £35k. With big clubs taking interest, if he didn't have the clause it could of done wonders for our finances. However, for now he's still a Mumbai FC player.

Right, the date is now the 14th January 2017 and the league season starts in 4 days. I have some good news! We have qualified for this years Asian Champions League without kicking a ball in the league this season.
Before the season in India, there are two cup competitions. The Durand Cup, I believe is like the English Capital One Cup and the Federation Cup is more like the FA Cup. In the Durand Cup we lost our first game to Goa before beating some other random Indian team however it wasn't even as we failed to progress.
Now, here is where the good stuff happens. As already stated, it is my ambition in this career to make India the best league in Asia. To do that I will need to ensure a number of teams compete well in the Asian Champions League to ensure that this can happen. The way the Federation Cup works is that you are placed in to one of two groups with sides from the Indian league. The top two then go through to a semi-final and then a final. We had the worst possible start with a battering from Bengaluru however went on a brilliant run and managed to win the Federation Cup thanks to an extra time goal in the final by the one and only... EL HADJI-DIOUF!
We face Malaysian side Selengor in the Second Preliminary Round where if we beat them, we will have a play off to see whether we will make it through to the group stages. Exciting times! The Indian League has moved up ever so slightly and it was the 16th best league in Asia... 15 more places to go.
Bring on the start of the season!

He was moaning about a new deal so decided to give him one to keep him happy. When I signed him in the Summer, I was expecting him to be back up. By the looks of things though it looks like we've all been playing him as our number one LB.
