He's only on loan right? Presume they make it permanent though, rare that you see a non youth player go out on loan and come back to play for the team now a days.

Draw probably a fair result. Roma without 2 centre backs, keeper and De Rossi and Strootman will see that as a big result.

Not sure how Kompany keeps escaping criticism, clearly at fault for the goal.

I still can't get over Jagielkas goal. Last minute of a derby to score that I'm not sure what I would have done.

Was surprised by Martinez' tactics, maybe not his initial tactics but his persistence with them. Lukaku on the right hand side against Moreno I suppose was for the height advantage and maybe strength but that left a massive gap up top and at times it was like Everton were playing a 4-6-0 formation. Was frustrating to watch. Everton fans feel the same?

Amazing how much has been made of Nolans offside goal, it was ever so slightly offside but was still the correct decision.

Was a very scrappy derby and the first half especially was very poor quality football.

Sampdoria have started very well and are now in 3rd spot.

What Slash said. Lopes and Rekik would have been the two most obvious young players to start were they not out on loan.

Given that he didn't play because he returned from international duty late I'm not sure if that quite counts as being rested.

They arrived on the Friday, Bony came on as a sub for Swansea so was a bit of a surprise he wasn't even on the bench.

Still find it surprising Yaya playing in a league cup tie at home to sheff wed. Maybe its because of the criticism lately Pellegrini wants to get him back in form.

Who do we think will start at centre back? Rojo will. I would say Carrick but he probably isn't match fit. Can't see Blind and Rojo both starting at centre back. Thorpe is probably going to get his debut after LVGs comment of 'the younger players can have their chance now' after he said 10 players are unavailable.

Unless you're basing your opinion on him after one game.

Read a very good article on him from a journalist in Portugal who concluded with the line 'he won't solve Uniteds defensive errors and will most likely add to them'.

A defender who does a Rabona flick in his own box doesn't strike me as a defender I want to place much confidence in. Having watched him in the world cup and the 2 games so far for United I reckon he will be good going forward and poor defensively, for a left back thats a problem but for a centre back its a massive problem.

I hope he proves me wrong.

Surprised at the team City had out. Especially considering they rested Yaya a couple of weeks ago against Arsenal. I know a few of their fans who would have liked to have seen Pozo start and one of two others at least on the bench.

Forest played well against Spurs who were awful for about the first hour of the game.

West Brom hit 300/1 before winning 3-2 against Hull with goals in the 87th and 88th minute.

Would hope he develops his decision making with age and experience as most players do. Agree that he will cost a fair bit mainly because hes English & also Everton seem to be able to get good money for their players.

But Rojo isn't a centre back. He is a natural left back who has filled in at centre back. So we effectively spent 43 million on the left back position and nothing on centre back.

Completely agree with Verse in that we have prioritised wrong. Also agree with Carroll in that defences win leagues.

In terms of players available then what are the scouts doing? They should be finding players. I don't have the time/money to watch or travel to see players around the world but I can tell you that Kjaer of Lille, Otamendi of Valencia, Musacchio of Villareal, Manolas of Roma etc are all good defenders who would improve what we have massively and thats just from watching a few of their games. Theres a lad from Real Sociedad aswell who I can't remember his name.

Vidic wasn't a well known player before we signed him and look how he turned out. Going further back the likes of Ronny Johnsen and Silvestre etc.

Just annoys me how its so blatantly obvious that we needed defenders and we did nothing about it. I used feel the same about central midfield aswell going back years but with Herrera and Blind at least we did something about that this year, finally.

So you don't think we need a couple of defenders? Defenders should have been a priority before anything else. Especially given how injury prone the ones we have are. Everyone can see we need a couple of solid defenders and ideally a leader.

Also how is the Rooney special privileges quote wrong? 'My captain shall always play and normally the goalkeeper'. To me that is him saying Rooney will always play.

I don't understand how LVG acknowledged that we were top heavy and needed defenders but did nothing about it. Also his comments regarding the captain being a priority in the team meaning Rooney won't ever be dropped is baffling. No way should Mata have been dropped for Falcao it should have been RVP or Rooney. Rojo confirming that he isn't a good defender as many who watched the Portuguese league said when we signed him.

Vardy getting loads of headlines but imagine it had been Ashley Young who had won that penalty, would be ridiculed for diving.

Mangala looked absolutely class for City. Still feel Chelsea will win the league comfortably and it will be a battle between Spurs/Arsenal/Liverpool/United for the third and fourth spots.

Shaw deal was all completed it just needed LVG to approve it. No way LVG identified Shaw as a signing he just simply confirmed an already done deal.

What makes you think he doesn't rate Shaw? He just spent £27m on him, and hasn't had a chance to pick him yet. Wasn't fit enough to start yesterday otherwise he would have I think. Anyway he's only young, not the end of the world if he's not a regular immediately.

LVG didn't buy Shaw. His comments about him in pre season weren't great. He said he was unfit for the type of game he wanted Shaw to play. He made him train alone & he also wanted Evra to stay.

He played 45 mins for the u21s last night so looks like hes just building up fitness. Hope he features on Sunday because I think hes got great potential.

Chelsea should win this league quite comfortably if Diego Costa stays fit, which I don't think he will throughout the season. Also, Terry was poor again for them which seems their only weak link at the moment.

Amazing that Harry and Pardew are still in jobs. Monk and Paul Lambert are doing superb jobs aswell albeit only 4 games gone.

Anyone else feel Luke Shaw should be a bit worried? If we continue to play 4-4-2 diamond, which we will do, Rojo will be the left back I would think. Evans and Jones will be the centre backs. Therefore Shaw could find himself seeing very little football this season.

For what its worth I would play Shaw as I feel he is a much better player than Rojo but not sure Van Gaal rates Shaw much.

Was a big win. Agree that Long should be in instead of Keane. Also Walters should be no where near the team.

Would love to see Grealish get some minutes maybe in friendlies first but with him and McGeady in the side there maybe some creativity which we have lacked for many years.

I will start my first game with Man Utd as always and hopefully take them back to the top.

Then I will probably start one with Southampton. I like their recent signings and they should have a good amount of money to build. Also they have great youth facilities so bringing through youth players which I enjoy should be possible.

Rooney shouldn't be in the side imo. Welbeck and Sturridge up top with Sterling in behind would work a lot better than Rooney with Sturridge. Obviously Hodgson won't change anything especially with making Rooney captain.

Could argue that Rooney has been made captain of both club and country at a time when he could easily be dropped from both sides.

A bit of a risk now for City with Aguero and Jovetic suffering injuries regularly last season. Expect them to have a striker lined up for the summer maybe even January if needs be.

Gutted to see Welbeck go. Massive chance for him though at Arsenal and hope he does well.

Cleverley gone to Villa on loan.

Certainly not messed around in getting rid of fringe/deadwood. Only Anderson left now really to get rid of.

Watched the Roma game. Looked in complete control and Fiorentina were poor really. Ashley Cole had a solid debut and Gervinho again was impressive but had an erratic end product.

Hoping Roma have a serious challenge this year to make it more competitive and Juve don't just win the league easily.
