#178262 I came here to win the pentagon and drink vodka [FM12]

Champions of last year, not sure why theyre not in the continental competition though, but struggling in the league in 2nd to last place means I get the chance to restore glory to Melbourne.
Form and thus morale are shit atm, but the league looks quite tight in regards to the last few playoff places so we may be able to mount a late comeback.
The squad, unfortunately, looks pretty shit too, not helped by the fact the previous manager let loads of contracts run down, so our best 2 players are leaving on frees at the end of the season

Up first, some team from Iran named Sepahan. The bookies had it down as an incredibly close tie, with penalties being the most likely decider, though I have no idea why, the Iranian's first shot on target came in the 92nd minute..
Up next, European giants and CL holders AC Milan. Could the revs pull off an astounding upset?
Alas, it wasnt to be, with the likes of Erick Torres, David Luiz, Kevin Prince Boateng and Pato (who is unbeleiveably good in this FM) proving one hurdle too high to jump
And with that...
All good things come to an end, and i've vastly enjoyed (most of) my time in New England, and looking forward to wherever this career takes me next. What I'm not looking forward to is the inevitable scavenging of the talent in New England when the new (and probably inept) replacement takes over
That being said, after a few years where finances were very bleak the club is now financially sound (and actually back in the black), and i've left them champions of the Cup and with a relatively simple NACL qtr final against Cruz Azul. The future's bright.

A pretty barmy tie tbh, but once more our unstobbable strike force drag us through. Been immense all season. New York up next.
Gutted, but that's football. Blown away the league all year and come up short in this game, would've been nice to end with a hattrick of MLS titles
Miscellaneous shit
(We had four players in the running for this, and i'm fairly annoyed we didnt get at least two into the top three)
(Gutted for Alvarado as he had an amazing season, but Montero was awesome(again) and it might be greedy asking for 6/11 in team of the year)
Star Performers
Tim Ream - The big free transfer come good, a key contributor to a almost impregnable defense and his random hattrick in the final of the US Cup made his first season back in the states a resounding success.
Dick Alvarado - I said last year I wanted more goals and boy did I get them. Dicky scored 42 in 44 games, as well as 11 assists and 13 MotM awards on his way to a 7.7 average rating. Not bad for a 22 year old free agent signing from Costa Rica.
Taufic Guarch - More than repaid the faith shown by his rather large transfer fee, Big T notched 43 times in all competitions, with 16 assists and 13 MotM to boot. Deserving winner of the MVP award and his form earned him a first call-up and cap to the Mexico team. I'm like a proud father :'

All in all, a terrific season. Started at blistering pace and never looked like slowing down for long, apart from right at the end where FM thought it'd be fun to test an injury hit squad with 6 games in 10 days. Nice.
Real Salt Lake in the Playoffs, lets do this thang

Brilliant deal for our finances, the payment recieved represents around 25% of our current annual turnover, and should wipe out the clubs debts after a year.
More cash moneyz.
Here's our NACL draw. Chivas are a decent side but the other two i'm expecting to hand out severe beatings too.

Absolutely gutted. The Courtois red card came from Thibaut catching the ball, obviously realising he'd left the gas on, and walking with the ball out of his box... Baines scored the resulting free-kick and that was that.
Doing a Moyes and breaking all the shit records.
A decent enough spell in charge, but mightily pissed off about the way it ended.
France won their second consecutive Euro's and have racked up 12 consecutive wins in the progress. Some team. Only ranked 8th in the world for some reason though

Group Stage
A narrow loss against Spain and a much tighter than it should've been win vs Wales means we finished second in our groupbehind the Spanish.
Probably as kind of a draw as we could've asked for, excluding Belarus Ireland may be the weakest team left.
Our god awful discipline in this tournament continues with another red card, to make things worse every game a full-back (a position Belgium aren't exactly blessed in) gets a niggly injury and his condition declines horribly. We play the English in the quarter finals, a stern test indeed.

Thanks pal \o/
In other news, my exploits at New England certainly haven't gone unnoticed, with me being linked to the jobs at Benfica, Flamengo, Cruziero, Ciricuma and Toronto, with the Canadian side actually offering me the job (rejected instantly, of course)
In the Euros we beat Denmark 2-0 in our first game, so a win against Wales should see us through to the knockouts.

Thanks mate. Turns out if I could've picked an ideal opponent it would've been Vancouver, looking at our past meetings we have been completely dominant against them, even with sides much shittier than the one we have now.
So, how'd it turn out?
(I got very excited when we won this, not realising it was played over two legs
So that's that then. The first 72 degrees of the pentagon done and dusted, in relatively simple fashion. As the game rightly notes, Richard "Dick" Alvarado had a stormer of a tournament, notching 8 goals and missing out on the golden boot to some ageless wonder playing up front for Vancouver.
So where does this leave me at New England? I think i'm going to stay until the end of the year (which will most likely be a dull romp to another MLS title, famous last words) and have a crack at the World Club Championship, but knowing me i'll get too attached to all the players and end up staying until 2023...

Could they f*ck.
That's 3 players notching a debut goal in those ties (Guarch was suspended for the first leg) Tim Ream's was an absolute beauty as well...
Pumas went through in the end so it's a difficult semi final, but WE FEAR NO MAN!

2016 transfers
Straight into the starting lineup at the back, big Tim Ream is one of those no-holds-barred, take no prisoners kind of center backs (probably a requirement to play for Bolton) that beasts in this level of league. Look Ream, smell Ream, be Ream.
Did I overpay for this geezer? Yes. But he's notched 43 MLS goals in the last 2 seasons, and in true New England sporting fashion the team is in "Win Now" mode, so I reckon the throwing of draft picks at Vancouver to land him was worthwhile. Make it rain, bitch.
The latest in 5 star potential strikers to grace New England. Hopefully this guy hangs about for a bit longer than the others though, given the large investment weve put on him (despite being in a financial crisis, wahoo)
Free transfer, rotation/backup player, blah blah

Here's our draw for the Euros. I would say the footballing gods (see messers Lineker, Muller and Trezeguet pulling balls out of a big velvet bag) have been kind to me, but then again I remember our woeful qualifying performance...

We own the MLS now. Acuna and Onyewu scoring in their last games for the club as their contracts are running out and both already have agreed to deals elsewhere, bastards. Acuna will definitely be missed, he scored a team-high 20 goals last year.
Star Performers
Richard Alvarado - Scored 14 goals from 28 games (inc 13 as a sub), seems to turn it on in the cups and I'm hoping he can be a beast in the league next year too.
Oscar Pena - 7 goals and 12 assists from CM for the talented youngster, hopefully can be as creative for years to come. Deadeye from the spot too.

Set up defensively to try and nick a goal on the counter then park the bus, but the boys surpassed all my (and indeed the Belgian FA's expectations) as we dominated the dutch. Belgium are going to the Euros baby! Allez Belgique!
Also - some interesting news from across the other pond
Interesting, they were predicted 1st in the Korean top league, I feel like it would be a decent chance to win the asian CL but I'm already halfway there in the NACL, so looks like I'm sticking around for a little bit longer. Nice to know my accomplishments are being noticed, just not by my own board

All in all, a rather dull final considering some of the games we've had in this competition before. Any chance of that new contract now guys?
Speaking of contracts, and not deserving them...
Pathetic really, reminds me why I can never really get into international management. The playoffs it is (which, tbf, was the minimum expectation) so I wonder who we'll face?
Bloody hell, Holland? If we're getting this strong of a team with our record I hate to think who we coul-..
Are you f*cking kidding me?

I'd be tempted just for the extra money, but their squad is ridiculously small and in no better position to win now than mine is, so I'd probably be more inclined to stay. You never know though, my contract is up at the end of the year and I might have to just to rub it in their faces

Absolutely barmy semi-final. LA in the final again (They're trying to make it 3 consecutive cup wins, I'm just happy to be here again)
About to wrap up the #1 in the East seed with 4 games to spare, top of CL group, cup final to boot. New York are sniffing around, so dont tempt me...

Haha, that Olympia team have a few decent players iirc and Monterrey won the Closing stage thing, but yeah they should still cream it. America (MEX) have been in every NACL so far and always reached the latter stages so a bit surprised to not see them around this year, not that I'm complaining
#175471 I came here to win the pentagon and drink vodka [FM12]

Here are the groups for our first foray into the NACL, Chivas look like they've got it easy but our group doesnt look too difficult either, Cruz Azul weren't in the top 3 in Mexico and Vancouver are currently bottom of the MLS W, so I'm hoping we can finish top of that bunch and get an easier draw for the next round.
Just beat Saprissa 1-0(not sure how though, we bossed the game) so our NACL bus is up and rolling! We might need it in the final if our infamous shoddy defense makes an unwelcome appearance again...

Here's our world cup qualy group, looks tough and less than ideal that spain are in there. Think it's gonna have to be through the playoffs then.

We were missing a number of starters for the Gold Cup but even so... Dismal.
No Kev, y'know what's unfair? Me being 4-0 down at HT to a team we really should be beating, while you're picking up a solid 3.4 rating

Provides cover up front, as well as (hopefully) an improvement over the aging Vaagan Moen (who, now I think about it, is still bossing the league... 13k for a backup player? What have i done?
The latest striker to roll in and hopefully score a hatful. Me and my scouts reckon hes worth more than 45k, so at the very least I'll be able to get some payback from him in the future.
Cover at CM, and on a developmental contract doesnt count against our roster or salary cap. Result.
The first time I'd ever used the Waiver Draft, to pick this guy up from LA. Provides cover down the entire left hand side.
Hoping to start this guy right away, looks like a little gem. Was interested in him last year, but Olympia wanted near 2m for him, but eventually his contract ran out and we got him on a free.
Worth noting I didnt pay a penny for any of these signings, which, looking at the clubs precarious financial situation, is just as well. My chairman accepted a (albeit decent) bid for a talented young right back, so I'm guessing he's feeling the pinch as well. On the plus side, our MLS win seems to have affected the masses, attendances are up and we've had more than one sellout for the first time in 4 years, which hopefully will help the financial situation in the long run.

WE DID IT! 4 years of waiting and we've finally managed to win the Revs' first ever MLS title (in the most scrappy way possible, obviously) Turns out NACL places are like buses; you wait years for one, then two come along at once (both overpriced and smelling of piss, but what can you do...)
Some miscellaneous news
Im not sure how this works as it was his second year, but I doubt he'd complain too much. Cuadrado inexplicably finished 3rd in the MVP voting too, behind Keane(shock) and Adu(shock)
Star Performers
Juan Guillermo Cuadrado - A magnificent season for the Columbian right sided player, totalling 12 goals and 14 assists from RW and RB. Deservedly voted fans player of the season, and should have been MVP.
Isaac Acuna - A splendid first season for the American striker, with 16 goals and 14 assists in all competitions. Would like a striker to eventually break the 20 goal barrier, but being involved with 30 goals isn't something to turn your nose up at.

So there it is! New England will be plying their trade against the elite of North American football in the NACL next year. Even though we appeared to boss the league this year, this still feels like a massive massive achievement considering where the team began. Looking forward to the adventure!
I've never seen so many green dots! Form was a lot more consistent this year, and I think we can also attribute the league success to the fact weve turned a lot of games we would have drawn last year into wins. We also appear in some games to be matched in our ability to score only in our ability to ship goals at the back, but at least its
neverrarelysometimes not boring...#175333 I came here to win the pentagon and drink vodka [FM12]

Looked very bleak at 2-0 down, fell short of mustering an unlikely comeback. LA in the final was just one rung up the US Cup ladder too far I guess... Ah well, I didnt wan't to win your mickey mouse cup anyway, I have my sights set on a bigger prize... (it would be nice to win it just once though...)

4th season and our first chance to win some silverware and qualify for the NACL. Our record's actually not that bad against LA, but they definitely aren't who I would've wished to face (where are the all non-MLS finals now huh!?)
In Belgium related news, beat Andorra 5-0 before losing 3-1 to Georgia in friendlies which I'm not bothered about. However, we then managed to conspire to lose 1-0 to the Czechs, who I think must have been spurred on by the appearance of an ancient Milan Baros.
