I've arranged a friendly with Behram. It might be my last game, I'm not sure. And I'm not sure what to do with Arbroath, it was initially only a short term thing asI don't really want to manage in Scotland yet. It just depends on how the job market is during the summer.

It would be nice to bounce back with a win over El Salvador.

All of my final four fixtures are against team currently above us in the league so these games will be worth double. Or as it goes 'a real six pointer'. But first its time for a trip to the Faroe Islands to take on Sweden and El Salvador.
#131403 FM14 - Moneyball
SR67
I've got one here, not exactly new but it could be fun. Moneyball.
After reading 'Soccernomics' by Simon Kuper & Stefan Szymanski and the movie based on the Oakland A's I have become very interested in this. It's about taking a club with little or no cash and competing at the highest level.
Heres the guidelines/rules that I've found.
1.New managers waste money, ergo, limit their say in transfers.
Disable transfer budgets in the first window and avoid offering what you consider deadwood without giving them a chance.
2.Draw opinion from several people from different backgrounds.
Have as wide a scoring range as possible and avoid just using the 'report card only' option.
3.Avoid stars of recent international tournaments.
Avoid players who's track record is far inferior to their current form.
4.Avoid certain nationalities (e.g. Brazilian, Dutch, England internationals) as they are overpriced.
Top Irish regens, for example, can be picked up for £100k compared to the same quality of English that would cost tenfold that.
5.Buy players in their early twenties; older players are overvalued and youngsters aren’t fully developed.
Buy players who will slot into your first team and let other clubs do the hard work and break them in.
6.Sell a player either before buyers see deterioration in his game or when a club offers more than he’s worth.
Wenger is a master of this. If your top goal scorer is nearing 30 and someone offers £20 million, think who could you sign for less? Stall the bid and select a target.
7.Replace your best players before selling.
Like I said in #6 don't sell your top goalscorer unless you have someone ready to step up or have a transfer near complete.
8.Try to avoid buying strikers because they are overpriced.
Bring them in about 22 when they are breaking into the first team and blend them into you're squad. In FM a good goalkeeper is worth his weight in gold. Usually you can find a few bargains who have been picked up by big clubs but are not playing.
9.Buy players with personal problems , then help them deal with their issues.
Buy players who are unhappy at the current club and want to be transfer listed also players who might be home sick etc.
10.Help new players relocate.
Go for players who speak the local language or have friends in the squad.
Recommended teams: Rangers, Hearts, Portsmouth, Deportivo Alves, Hoffenheim, Aston Villa.
Additional Extras:
1. Start as a MLS club.
2. Choose a club run by Americans.
3. Hire Damien Comolli as DoF.

Well 2017 has not been our year with another poor month. We crashed out go the Champions League by means of the away goal rule, compared to last seasons semi-final it's very disappointing. League form has been pretty poor too, throwing a way a 2-0 lead over Rangers to draw.

I brought in an assistant manager and scout along with Steve Howard as player/u19 manager as I had no staff. Also Hibs are our new parent team.

We sit in a comfortable position in the table and if I get off to a good start we could get a play-off spot with 11 games to go.

The results boosts us up to 167th. Next up is friendlies against Luxembourg and Vietnam. We could pick up some wins and club even higher.

The results leave us 173rd in the FIFA rankings. Things are looking up (after the rest of the qualifiers). HA.
Anyway this will be my last post of 2013. Just like to wish everyone following a Happy New Year.

I'd like to note that going into the game we had slipped to 189th in the rankings after the World Cup. In which Spain beat Switzerland with a double in injury time. Ouch.

A terrible month. First of all two draws and then going out of two cups in the space of 4 days. It might do us a favour if we go far in the Champions League but its no excuse we were terrible both matches.
There was a few transfers. The only other player to leave was Danny Ings on loan with Birmingham paying his full £20k p/w wage, hopefully it gets him scoring again.
Transfers In
A replacement for Warner the young Irish keeper looks a good prospect for the future and can feature for both the reserves and u19's while sitting on the bench.
Kerr is one for the future, I might give him his debut this season but will more than likely let him play in the u19s and give him it next year.
I signed Halilovic on a pre-contract before Dinamo offered me him 6 months early for just £400k. I couldn't refuse. It did cause Ravel Morrison to throw a fit about the amount of players in his position.
With Tony Want and Stevie May facing a few weeks out I brought in some cheap back up just to beef up the squad. I don't expect much from him this season.
And finally Capoue was brought in to relieve some of the pressure on Joe Ledley in the DM slot for my new formation.

They're coming along slowly! Another 30 or so places and I can think about moving on haha. I've just been putting it on holiday in-between, I've got Boardwalk Empire to keep me occupied.

The draw moved us up a single place to 167th. Next up we face Palestine before the Euro qualifier against Russia.
I'll tell you one thing I've learnt so far. The breaks between games is very frustrating. Not got another for about 6 months so holiday mode it is.

We now sit 168th in the FIFA rankings. Up next in November we host Kazakhstan and Tahiti.
