With not much needed to improve the squad I may have completed my transfers for this window already. Looking at the squad I noticed Miralem Sulejmani was on over £30k, significantly more than the rest of the squad but didn't look anything special, so my first task was to move him on as we have plenty of attacking midfielders. Werder Bremen took him off my hands for £2 million, significantly less than Ajax payed for him four years ago.


The right back joins on loan from AC Milan until the end of the season, costing us only his weekly wage, to provide cover at either side of defence.


Signed as a replacement for Sulejmani at half his wage and cost the same. The Czech midfielder is less attacking and strengthens the squad in the middle of the park.

I've inherited a very good squad with decent depth in most positions. The options at attacking midfield are plentiful, so I will most likely use a 4-2-3-1 with three central attacking midfielders, however I feel we are a player short at right back so I will look for a cheap backup.


The young playmaker has the world at his feet, he will be a crucial part of my success at Ajax an I'll look to hold on to him. At only 20 he looks like he can only improve and become one of the best players in Europe. As he only has two years remaining on his contract, tying him down is a top priority.


Another young Dane finds himself at the focus of my attention. Just joined from Aalborg, he looks a quality player for just 17 and will hopefully develop into a player as good as Erikson.

Despite being a dominating force in the Eredivisie recently Ajax have failed to leave their mark in the Champions League since 1995. I hope to change that using a young squad balanced with a handful of experienced players. As part of my contract I'm expected to play attacking football and develop players using the clubs youth system, and am happy to comply.



Transfer Budget: £6 million
Wage Budget: £300k (currently spending £244k)

With the database update I've decided to try my hand at something new and start the 'Metropolitan Man' challenge, I will update you on my conquest monthly. I have replaced some of the recommended cities and will also try to keep the squads as European as possible.

The Aim: Win the UEFA Champions League or Europa League with clubs based in; London, Madrid, Turin, Ruhr, Istanbul, Paris and Amsterdam. Once I have lead a team to glory I will move on at the next opportunity that a club becomes available.



I have loaded the top leagues from my selected nations along with players from top divisions in several European countries.

Our season was a reality check from last season. A huge improvement in the SPL and only 6 points of the targeted 100, but that was mulled by a disappointing League Cup run reaching just the 3rd round. Our Champions League group proved too large a stumbling block, despite it being vastly easier than the season before, as Shakhtar and Valencia claim the Champions League spots and we were destined for the Europa League. We recovered from a 3 goal deficit to reach the last 16 of the Europa League, against Panathinaikos only to go out on away goals to Inter Milan.

I didn't think of that, maybe in time. Great start anyway mate!

What a clear out! You should be able to build an excellent team with that, a few Dortmund players I suspect?

My third of FM13 I think. Thanks anyway I'm going to stick at this one.

We had an excellent first season, winning the first domestic treble in a decade. This included a successful Champions League campaign topping our group that we were 4th seed consisting of; Milan, PSG and Valencia, before reaching the Quarter Final and losing to Barcelona by a single goal. The players settled in well to the new style of play especially Welsh playmaker Joe Ledley who thrived in the 'Xavi role'.

My ultimate goal is to win the Champions League with Celtic, along the way improving the diminished reputation of Scottish Football. A key focus will be player development, in hope that it will allow me to build a squad good enough to compete at the highest level without breaking the bank.

In terms of transfer targets, I'll look towards promising youngsters and rough cut gems who have yet to show their full potential. Passing and technique are important factors in transfer targets as its at the core of my tactics, less so for the centre backs. Mental attributes such as determination, off the ball and teamwork will also be very important.



My goal is to bring the style of Barcelona to Glasgow. A style based on getting the ball in the back of the net through possession, short passing and movement off the ball. The team should also be able to operate quickly and efficiently on the counter.

I've finished my two months and we've slipped two places but the tables pretty tight all we need is a few wins on the bounce.

Just thought I'd update everyone on Jacks progress before I post any on my own, this has left us sitting a very comfortable 13th in the league.

We picked up a few wins to take us only 3 points off promotion but somehow went out of the French Cup against a side in the division below us.

Yeah. The first two games was my tactic bedding in nut its up and running now!

We picked up a few points and keep our position in the league. We picked up a big result against none other than Bordeaux in the French Cup.

I think we should take it, it makes a good story being Zidane and all. Is it possible to accept it for the end of the season?

Can you post a screenie of the squad? And is there an option to take it at the end of the season?

I'd say stay, hold out for the Bordeaux job..

We had a decent pre-season and face Harve AC in the opening game of the season.

I think I may have made the signing of the season..



Pedersen looks like a real bargain at only £140k, I'm still looking for a centre midfielder.



We started the season brilliantly, Harve finished 4th in Ligue 2 last season. My new star striker got off to a flyer and it was good to see old boy Pires score.
