Well to be honest, out of United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham, the five most likely to contend for Champions League spots, Tottenham is the only suitable place for him because they lack an established Left-back. They seem the most likely to replace Arsenal for that 4th place as well.

I'm probably just saying that because a player like him deserves Champions League football as Everton really has no chance. Wanted him at United if Evra had gone to Monaco.

I didn't watch a lot of him, no. But it really would take some time for him to prove at Tottenham.

At the moment though, Baines is far ahead of Rose so investing that kind of money for his experience and ability would seem right for their ambitions.

Why would they spend 12-15m on a left back when they already have a good one?

Rose has a good 10 years left in him at the top level too.

Well that's up to Tottenham if they want Champions League football in the near future. Baines is a massive step up from Rose, and it'll take a good 2-3 seasons until Rose is Premier League quality. And investing 12-15m on a player like Baines would not hurt especially when they are getting rid of their best player. You really can't expect to insure success even from getting a bunch of promising players who look good on paper, but have no Premier League experience.

Yeah, but as long as RVP and Rooney are healthy and on form, it'll be difficult for Kagawa to start consistently.

There's a lack of experience throughout that team and someone like Baines to lead the defence line would be needed. Their main concern is defence, after all.

Heck, Tottenham should be the ones pursuing Leighton Baines. Danny Rose has potential in that LB spot but if they have Baines there, they would surely lock up that top 4 spot.

Lamela is better than Bale also, or at least on the same level. Ridiculously good window by Spurs

No he's not.

Arsenal are rumoured with Pjanic and have entered the race for Lamela.

I've been rating Pjanic during his days at Lyon, would love to see him in the Premier League.

Parker, Taarabt, Bent, Stekelenburg, Amorebieta - Fulham have made some impressive signings this summer.

Taarabt is not an impressive signing though. If he plays like he has been at QPR the last two seasons, the signing will hardly be an improvement to what they already have.

Valencia has gone back to #25...

Hopefully that brings him back to his old form two seasons ago. Must've been his decision to switch?

That's how it has been with Anderson for the last three or four years now. Promising at the start and invisible at the end. We should really get rid of him asap as his value will only go down and his value was not high even three years ago.

J.S. Park set for a loan move to his former club, PSV Eindhoven. Escaped from that QPR prison finally.

Cesc is not coming to OT. After trying so hard to get out of England, there's absolutely no reason to come back here. He may not be the first choice in midfield right now, but he's just much younger than Xavi/Iniesta and will develop to be as good as them and he probably knows that. If he stays, he'll be the main man for their midfield for years to come. It was worth a try though, Moyes had to show people he's actually doing something.

What a bunch of dicks, I'm just like Welbeck, I guess.

I remember a lot of people here bashing me years ago just because I had different opinions from the majority but it wasn't like a clueless opinion I had reasonable stuff to say and the likes of Zog, bluemoon or whatever his name was before, and that ignorant Bayern loving bloke were just dicks. And that's when I was new to this forum and that's the tradition here, bash the new people.

I don't know why so many people bash Welbeck. I see so many idiots on facebook and other forums saying we should sell him. They just judge players by their stats, and even though Welbeck's a striker and had like two goals last season, you really should watch an actual fucking match and see what he can do. He's a premier league class dribbler, good pace, very strong, and has good footballing sense. If he can improve his finishing and score about 10 goals a season, Rooney's departure would not hurt the team too much. The only abilities Welbeck lack compared to Rooney is his finishing and passing.

Bergeron earns a lucrative contract as well. Fully deserving, his offensive numbers won't get better as seasons go, but I think he's the type of player that gets better with age. That's if he stays healthy like the last three seasons though.

I'd say David De Gea is the best out of the very few that have decently structured faces in the United squad.

Kovalchuk had the highest TOI out of all NHL forwards last season and pretty much played the minutes of a top 2 defenseman. Now they don't even have a player of high status.. Elias is getting too old, the likes of Henrique/Zajac/Larsson had off years, and not too many prospects in that system.

First time I feel like cheering for the Oilers to make the playoffs so they don't hog all of those high draft picks. Time for that spoiled team to seriously step it up. Eberle, Gagner, Hall, RNH, Yakupov, Schultz, Nurse, and now Perron... Only if the Flames had one or two of them.

Wow. I would have thought Iggy wouldn't get near Boston, but there he goes. I guess the chance to play with one of the best defence in the NHL may win him a cup.

Well, I guess if you're happy about the trade, then that's it.

Joe Morrow has potential to be an offensive defenseman in the NHL, he lit it up in the WHL but he hasn't translated that into the AHL yet. From what I've seen in hockey forums, he's not that good defensively and that's why he might project as a 3rd line pairing.

Yes, I know you didn't get to the final because of him, and that's not what I said. He didn't do anything to prevent his team from going that far. It was just that his form dropped and Jagr's been playing decently to be placed on that 2nd line. I wouldn't say he was "largely anonymous". I've watched all of the finals and every Bruins' game except maybe about 4 or 5, and watching Seguin, he was a decent fit on the 3rd line using his speed. Not productive, but certainly not useless.

And with that cap space, $4.75 mil to be exact (according to capgeek), I really can't see Boston doing to well with it. If quality wingers are what you want, the only suitable free agent wingers are Clarkson and Iginla, and Horton's gone. Iginla certainly won't want to get near Boston, and Clarkson is hardly a step up from Horton. Mike Ribeiro is a center, which you don't need, and Filipula will not suit Boston's style of play. It's a pretty weak free agent class this season, and unless Boston trades, they probably won't be able to properly replace Horton.

Because he's had a big falling out with the management of his attitude. Apparently, it all came to a head in our playoff series with Toronto. It seems he was going out drinking before vital playoff games and he showed up to practice 3 days in a row wearing the game clothes. He does have potential, but he's not taking his job seriously and has actually shown signs of regression. We also had 7 centres (plus Savard) who were all looking for a place in the team. Seguin and Pevs were playing the worst out of them all. They've basically traded a player who's a bit of a risk in a position we've got a lot of depth in for a proven player in a position we have pretty bad depth in. Plus a bunch of prospects and 5 mil cap space. Losing Seguin actually doesn't hurt at all. It might sting in the future, but it doesn't hurt us now.

See that's the thing. Even if Seguin did all of those things you claimed, it certainly would not have influenced the whole team too negatively because they did get to the finals. He didn't have a good season compared to the last two seasons, but it wasn't horrible. He just had a sub-par playoffs. The bad attitude? It can be overcome with discipline and nurturing from the coaching & management when the subject is a very young player. You can't just give up on him permanently for a brief period of bad hockey and off-ice attitude. And this trade DOES hurt at the moment, because you're losing two established NHLers for one established NHLer and a bunch of prospects with little potential.
