Thanks mate.Next season the cup is mine
#241578 The Pan-European Challenge Stop1:Netherlands.Season 2 End
Angelo Ionescu
So the first thing to announce is that the board decided to extend my contract for another 2 seasons. That's exactly what i wanted to be offered to me because I hope that in 2 seasons I will finish the Netherlands.
The Youth Intake
As you can see the first youth intake of this career wasn't the best of all. There weren't players with big potential, but I signed 2 of them:Tatan Suryana and Martijn Willems .In my opinion they are the only players who I think they cand grow and make their debuts at this club.
Other news...the upgrade of our training facilities is over and I hope that the impact will be massive hopefully.
Now let's move on to some real action!
Eredivisie
In my opinion we had a wonderful end of the season. There were some great moments, but I'm a little annoyed that we lost our form after the game against Feyenoord, missing the chance to win 3 times in a row.All in all I'm very happy with the situation we found ourselves at this moment.
Here are the most interesting matches of this end of the season:
The game against PSV showed me that my team represents a real threat for the opposition in attack but it's also vulnerable to counter attacks, conceding goals to easy.It was a game to remember for my winter signing Alex Chipciu who scored a brace, helping us to secure the win against mighty PSV.
The game against NEC Nijmegen represented the biggest win of this season. We clearly enjoyed that match and we showed a nice spell of dominance in literally demolishing our opponents.
The match against Ajax was a real derby. My team showed that there are no pushovers and came back to earn a draw after being leaded 3-1.
We came back to our winning days by defeating Utrecht 3-1 away from home and take our revenge.Again Chipciu putted his name on the scoreboard with Vellios completing him, scoring a brace.
Feyenoord reminded me that in football it doesn't matter how many scoring chances you have.It matters how you transform them into goals.Anyway I still believe that we deserved at least one point from that match.
The game against Den Haag was really frustrating. We showed a great spell of dominance but my inexperienced side was trapped into the complacency created by the goal scored by right back Pavle Ninkov.
Marco Pappa really enjoyed the game against Groningen scoring a hat-trick and showing why he is my first choice left winger.Sviatchenko is class at corners, scoring almost at every cross of Wollf Eikrem.
So...where did we finished the season?
An extraordinary 4th place at the end of the season!I'm proud of my team and of the way they've dealt with the bad start of the season. We qualified to Europa League,so I've reached my objective.I'm glad that I've set myself a realistic objective and I hope that the next season we will at least finished 3rd.
The Dutch Cup
The game against Helmond Sport was REALLY HARD! Or at least harder than I was expecting.Helmond are a good side even if they play in Jupiler League and they represented a good opposition for us.They deserved their place in the semifinals.
And now the final against...Ajax!
Unfortunately we've lost the final...because of a stupid mistake from my keeper...from all of the matches of this season...he decided to make a stupid mistake exactly in the most important match of the season.I think we deserved the win.I didn't met my objective:win the cup,but i'm in the mean time happy because we've at least reached the final and surpassed the objective set by the board:quarters.
Speaking of the board, they are really happy with me:
Player performances
Vellios proved to be my most inspired signing of this season. He managed to win the Eredivisie Golden Boot, scoring 20 goals in 33 matches with an average rating of 7.54
These are the ratings of my players at the end of the season. You can see that my attacking players have better ratings than my defensive players.Next season I will try to bring the level of my defence at the same of the midfield and attack.
The board also settled my budgets for the next season:
Really?No way!....
Anyway guys that's the end of my first season of the Pan-European Challenge.Hopefully next season I will manage to win the cup and be in contention for the league title. The next update will be at the end of the summer transfer window.Sorry for the long post.I hope you read it with pleasure.Take care!

So,as you can see we had some activity in this transfer window. Our OUT's were only loan deals wich hopefully will improve my youngsters.
In terms of IN's I camed to the conclusion that we needed a back-up RW and a good, first team RB.
Alexandru Chipciu,my favourite from Steaua in real life was the perfect option available for me at that time.He is a very good, pacey player and can easily be in contention for even a starter post in my team. Now, Raijv van La Parra will have some work to do if he wants to remain my first RW choice.
Pavle Ninkov is clearly one class ahead of Stefano Marzo. He is the perfect signing for my team and hopefully he will make a good impact over my team.I like that he is very strong, he has good stamina and he is VERY pacey for a RB.That makes him a threat for the opposition especially because he is overlapping loads of time my RW,creating chances.
Our last signing,is a signing for future.Mikka Mujunen came at our club for basically nothing,so I think we did a great job signing him.He was obviously gone on loan for improving his stats and probably be my second choice GK in two seasons.
Eredivisie
As you all know,I said that our results have been improved a lot since the last update.Let's see how we manage to deal with our league fixtures.
As you can see we are doing way better than i expected due to not starting the season that good.I'm happy that we've started to score goals and win matches and I hope that soon our defence will be much stronger and we will stop conceding that amount of goals.Let's have a look now at some of the most interesting matches we had:
The match against Feyenoord was very tight with both teams creating chances.I think the result is fair , but I would've liked us to score earlier because that late equalizer form Faris Haroun almost gave me a mini heart attack!
The game against NAC Breda meant a lot for me and my team, because after so many matches without a win in Eredivisie we finally managed to win a game.We have clearly dominated Breda and the goals of Vellios and Sviatchenko proved that my summer signings were the right ones.
The game against Den Haag was a truly relief for me.We clearly deserved to win that match, considering the fact that we dominated it,ADO Den Haag being sufocated by our pressing.
The win against Roda JC,represent our best game of the season by now.We were the only side on the pitch and our spell of dominance continued from the first seconds of the game, until the end of it.
The game against Vitesse was an absolute thriller. After 34 minutes we were 4-0 up and the game seemed to be setled for a clear win. But,Vitesse proved why they are so high up on the league table and almost equalized us.Fortunately after the 4-2 goal,Vellios destroyed any hopes for Vitesse scoring the 5-2 goal.
So...where are we situated on the table?
We are lying down in 7th wich is quite a good status for us.The board is happy and I'm also glad to see that our situation is better now.We need to stay focused and try to push higher up in the Eredivisie.
The Financial Takeover
As you all guys know ,the president of the club decided to sell the club. And he actually managed to do that. After receiving that news, the new chairman informed me that my job security isn't quite high...but after starting winning in the league, the new boss was happy to keep me at the club. Also,he injected 11 million pounds in our transfer budget and started an upgrade to our facilities.I can say that I'm more than happy with the new chairman!
The Dutch Cup
I'm very happy with how the things are going in the Cup.We have been drawn against a Jupiler League team in the semi-finals so the chances of advancing into the final are high.Hopefully we will manage to reach the final and why not,win it!
Contract Renewals
I've decided to renew 2 players contract:Erik Sviatchenko,as a prize for his remarcable performances and Chiel Kramer for his wonderful skill of saving us every time
Team Ratings
These are the ratings of my players.I can say that Vellios is a marvelous piece of business , scoring 12 goals in 19 matches and being the best scorer of the Eredivisie. Also Cramer turned out to be my first choice GK insted of Nortdveldt, his performances being a key factor in our ascension as a club.Sviatchenko is the heart of our defece and I'm really happy to have signed him.Wolff Eikrem is also the best midfielder from my team, providing support for the attack and also contributing with some spectacular goals form free-kicks.Jukka Raitala and Marco Pappa are doing excellent together in the left flank also as van La Parra in the right flank.
That's all for now guys, hope you enjoyed this update!See you next time.Until the next update, leave your comments below. Thanks!

Season Objectives
Board:
My expectations:
I think my objectives are realistic looking at my team and comparing it with the rest of the teams. But you never know...
Eredivizie
As you can see we didn't had the best first 2 months. We concede a lot of goals and we drew so many mathes. This is VERY frustrating, especially when you lose the 3 points or even a match(against Ajax) because of a stupid penalty. But this is how football goes.
Here are some interesting matches:
The first match of our campaign was against Twente,a very strong side in Eredivizie.Unfortunately we've lost the game by 1-0.As you cand see it was a very tight game, but they were more lucky than us.
From the series of frustrating draws...Heracles! Just look at those chances we've missed. It is clear as crystal that we urgently need to make our chances pay or we could see ourselves entering into big troubles.
The game against Cambuur was the start of our massive decline.I think we had bad luck until now...but we need some changes fast!
Where this results leave us on the table?
Well...
Right...
Here..
As you can see,we are not in a comfortable position at the moment, but hopefully we could save our season!
The Dutch Cup
The Cup clearly remains our target for this season. If I win it this season,I would concentrate only on the legue next season, because this season we are fighting against relegation.
The game against Vitesse Reserves was an absolute screamer, with me shouting at my players from the front of the monitor. Finally, after 7 matches...A WIN!
Tactical changes
Obviously, after this start of the season,I put my head at work and I tried a little change that hopefully will bring us back to winning days!
I've applied this change of the DM for an AM before the Eredivizie match against RKC,and it almost worked. In the cup it worked, helping my team winning 4-2.Maybe this change is the glimmer that will change the course of our season, but the cup remains our main objective.
Contract renewal
Despite not being impressed by his stats at the start,I think Pelle van Anholt cand be a great midfielder for my team in the next season.I didn't risk loosing him for free, with bids from 3 teams being putted down.
Take over talks
It seems that the president of the club is in talks with someone that could take over my club.Hopefully this won't happen because I'm 90% sure that I will be fired
Well that's all for now guys! The next update will be at the end of the January transfer window.Wish me luck and leave your comments, suggestions and thoughts in the comment section!Take care of yourselves!
#239876 The Pan-European Challenge Stop1:Netherlands.Season 2 End
Angelo Ionescu
Sportclub Heerenveen is a Dutch football club currently playing in the Eredivisie, the top level of football in the Netherlands. The team plays their home games at the Abe Lenstra Stadion which opened in 1994 and holds 26,800 people. In 2011 SC Heerenveen will start to expand the stadium to 32,000 seats. The rivals of sc Heerenveen are SC Cambuur from Leeuwarden and FC Groningen from the city of Groningen. The distance between Heerenveen and Leeuwarden is only 30 kilometres; this is the first reason for the rivalry.
Anyway, let's get it started! I finished the pre-season,and the results were the following:
In total,we had 3 wins,2 draws and 3 loses. All in all,a decent pre-season.We've lost 2 games against much better teams:Udinese and AS Monaco and we only drew against Salsburg, but i think the friendlies are only a question of fitness and team cohesion.
In terms of transfers:
I think we had a very good transfer window activity.I managed to strenghten my attack by bringing in Vellios on loan.Believe me!He was an absolute beast in friendlies.I can't wait to see him playing in Eredivisie.
Also,Faris Haroun is a marvelous capture for our midfield department,as I felt that Heerenveen needed some depth there.
The last IN of the summer was Erik Sviatchenko.A bargain! He is a wonderful player for his age of 21 and I recommend you guys to pick him up.The only problem is his wage, about 19k per week. But I believe he worth that.
Obviously,I wouldn't had signed Erik if I wasn't to sell the former heart of our defence,Arnold Kruiswijk. The offer from Kuban was too good to turn down so I accepted it.
In terms of tactic I will use a 4-1-2-2-1 or a 4-3-3 if you want:
Anyway, that's it for now guys.I will play 4 or 5 games tonight and I will let you know how the things are going.I will make then updates in January and at the end of the season. This week will be the last of the 1st semester in Romania and then I will have a small break so stay tunned!
#181115 Stoke City-The Angelo Era
Angelo Ionescu
This was the announce that changed my life forever.I am the new Stoke City manager!
The team has a lot of potential and I know I cand achieve big things here. For this season i decided i will line-up 2 tactics. My main tactic will look like this:
In the mean time my second tactic will be the next one:
In terms of sinings...
I'm very happy with the signings I have made and I'm confident that they will boost the team up:Anelka has experience,Gaitan is a very strong player and Solly is just what i needed for my RB position.
I also played the pre-season games and i cand say that I'm pretty happy with the results...the only thing that went wrong was Ryan Shawcross picking a 2 months injury.
We are ready to start the season and hopefully we cand finish in a strong mid-table position.
