Uncle Sam Activity
The diaper dandies extend the Texas derby dominance as Dynamo Academy defeat the FC Dallas Jrs 2-0. The lads sit atop the USSDA Frontier Division.
Torres adds to his haul, with his incredible start earning him the MLS Player of the Month for March. Tomas Martinez again finishes third.
Dynamo pick up right back Rafael Ramos off waivers from Orlando City, and also sign free agent Christian Roldan. Both young prospects loaned to Rio Grande Valley for the 2016 season.
Torres' hat trick at Vancouver earned him MLS Player of the Week. Tomas Martinez was 3rd in the voting.
International call-ups and injury led me to employ a 4-1-3-2 DM Narrow (which actually functions like a 4-4-2 diamond midfield) over my 4-3-3 with great success in a 4-0 win at Vancouver Whitecaps. Erick Torres with a hat trick. The Mexican international...
1-1 draw at New York Red Bulls, Erick Torres takes a knock that will keep him out of training for 2-3 days.
League: 1st (2-1-0, 7GF-2GA, +5GD, 7PTS)
Juan David Cabezas is out for 4-5 weeks. That hurts the midfield, but with some shuffling Boniek Garcia will slide to the midfield, DeLaGarza out to right back, and Machado will fill in at DC. Shouldn't miss much:
With a 4-0 win over FC Dallas, we have one hand on the El Capitan Canon #texasderby
League: 2nd (2-0-0, 4GF-1GA, +5GD, 6PTS)
Journey begins with 2-1 win against New England.
League: 3rd (1-0-0, 2gf-1ga, +1gd, 3pts)
2016 Preseason
I played 14 preseason matches, including the preseason exhibition tournament I was invited to. The primary goals were obviously to get fitness levels up (check) and master my two primary tactics, a 4-3-3 and a 4-1-4-1 (check). Even better...
So I'm starting a new save with my own epic expansion of the US pyramid, based on real life. The file and companion files can be found here:
USA Real Life Pyramid
This file adds the lower leagues, including the NCAA, so that now MLS teams draft pla...
The transfer update from this site should work with my update just fine. It's when they mess around clubs and competitions that run the risk of messing up the file.
USA kits for the Gold Cup:
They're my favorite since the red and white hoops.
Ha, are there any questions that you have specifically?
That should work, that's what I do.
Yes, the file was built off of the one that is downloadable from this site. It will rename all of the competitions in the game without messing up the competition names in my file.
Some of them do turn out to be very good, national team quality. I often "take a risk" on GA players that my scouts rate highly because I can pay them whatever contract they demand without taking up a Senior slot and taking up salary cap space....
Yes, downloading all of the files in the original post is a great way to start. If you already have logos that override the ones I've provided, then you'll have to remove them and adjust the config files. That's really not as difficult as y...
Yes, unfortunately there is no way to make them selectable at the beginning of the game. I tried even putting them into another league but it botched up the game.
Uncle Sam just completed the season in the year 2016 managing Houston in the Major League Soccer in their FM Career Uncle Sam's FM 17 Career
My last FM17 save, adding my USA Real Life Pyramid expansion file.
Good question.
Real Life explanation: The Generation Adidas (GA) program was started to entice young, talented players to either leave college soccer early (before they graduate) or to skip it entirely. The benefit of college soccer is that players get s...
Squad Evaluation
One way to look at your squad in MLS is to divide your players into two categories: (1) Senior and (2) Off-Budget. Senior players count against the Salary Cap, while Off-Budget players do not. What that basically means is that all of you...
New USA Gold Cup kit
I have not had this in my experience.
Purpose behind the rules
So why does MLS have all of these crazy squad rules? There really is no one simple answer, it's a combination of a number of things. I'll make a list here.
1. Avoid overspending - While there are a lot of reasons that...
I'll start with #2, because it's the easier question. I choose my designated player (DP) based primarily on need, and then on quality of the players who I think I can get. For example, I play with one up top, so if I have two strong strikers, th...
I would be willing to start a sort of question-and-answer session in this thread.
Ha, I used to have a guide but to be honest, it would be a lot more in depth as FM has come very close to catching up with how the league works in real life.
Expands the USA down 8 levels, all the way to amateur leagues, including the NCAA.
So, my latest experiment was to test the theory that issue had something to do with the .png files themselves. So I opened all the kits in photoshop, and then saved them into a new folder, deleted the old folder, and built a new config. Here is the result...
The real life folder is just a place where I dumped some kits for clubs that I didn't when to lose where I made custom kits. There is not even a config file in the folder.
The custom kits folder is where I put kits for clubs that I created by modify...
Yes, apologies. I do know that the screenshot isn't showing the default kits. That image is of the old kits that continue to show no matter what I do. I did figure out the reason the default kits continued to show. In one of my many experiments I had...
I have looked for duplicate kits, duplicate folders, etc.. While I suppose there is a remote possibility that I've missed something, it really looks unlikely that that's the problem now that the only kits that show up are the default kits. I tri...
Experiment #2,307:
1. I removed the Football Manager 2017 folder, and restarted the game.
2. When I reloaded the skin, the default kits showed up.
3. I then returned the graphics folder to the new Football Manager 2017 folder WITHOUT the USA kits folde...
I don't know if this helps you to come up with any ideas, but I did manage to get the default kits to show by removing the Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2017 folder from the Documents folder, however once I out the graphics folder back in the o...
I really don't know what other images to post. The screenshot is the old kit. Below is the new kit:
I honestly have tried everything I can think of. I have even uninstalled the game, and reinstalled. I have cleared caches, both in game and manually...
I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to the USA graphics. I've deleted the config file and reloaded and the kits remain. I don't understand at all what the F is happening.
I uninstalled the game, Verify the game's file validity in steam, I've deleted the cache files. I even removed the graphics folder so that everything went back to default, but when I returned the graphics folder and reloaded the skin it STILL sh...
So I've traced it back to something with the graphics folder in my documents. I don't understand for the life of me what it could be.
Thank you for the response. One quick question, will I have to reload all of my custom views?
I have tried pretty much everything as far as ticking and unticking the cache box and reloading the skin, but none of my kit changes are taking effect. As I recall there was some hidden cache files somewhere. Does anyone remember that? Or have a different...
A month full of hardware for the Houston Dynamo as they wrapped up a near-perfect 2015.
Several Dynamo players took home superlatives for their performance in the 2015 MLS season. Tyler Deric was named as the Goalkeeper of the Year for only allowing 14...
It was a historic couple of months for the Dynamo. After largely solidifying their position in league play Harmon was able to focus his squad selection on other competitions. Despite usually fielding a squad of several players who sit lower on the depth...
After 20 matches, the Dynamo continue to separate themselves from the rest of the league. They have leaped to the top of the Supporters Shield standings which has propelled them 11 points clear in the Western Conference.
Erick Torres has found the net 1...
