The inexperienced (and faceless) figure of J.Davis is about to be let loose into the world of football management. A challenge laid down before him which will take him to all four corners of the British Isles in an attempt to conquer all that stands before him.

Athlone Town were turned down in favour of the might of Brechin City and with a tidy £400 to work with on wages I'm looking forward to my chances of acheiving the chairman's expectations

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj589/jackyd157/contract-1.jpg

Contracts signed and a nod of approval of the philosophy wanting to be partaken by the club it's time to get a look at the players I'll be working with this season.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj589/jackyd157/squad-1-1.jpg

Not bad but the left hand side and a back up keeper are areas I want to improve upon.

Right, all that out of the way, let's get down to some business

Starting unemployed, seems you only get 3 choices..Athlone, Havant or Brechin.

Good luck btw

Took over and the friendlies had already been completed leaving me only a match up with the reserves to get acquainted with the squad before the start of the season. Not a bad pre-season to be fair but injuries to my best strikers (Andy Jackson and Scott Dalziel) left be a bit short of quality up front to start off with.

Macphee (a good friend of mine in real life) was brought in to shore up the left flank.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj589/jackyd157/morton-1.jpg

Scottish headline writers dream "Morton scores for Brechin" came in to bolster the front line while Jackson and Dalziel were out.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj589/jackyd157/smith-1.jpg

A great signing at this level in my opinion, Smith joining after being released by SPL side St Mirren.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj589/jackyd157/obrien-1.jpg
.

Final signing O'brien brought in a wealth of experience plus added a bit of creative spark to the midfield.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj589/jackyd157/results2-1.jpg

Defeat in my first ever competitive match against third division Elgin left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth. So the new signings were introduced against Stenhousemuir and despite going in front through Morton's debut goal we were pegged back by two goals in the final 15 minutes. I was slightly worried going into the first league game with how the two previous results had gone but two great strikes from David McKenna got us up and running for the season. Revenge was sweet after yet another McKenna brace and Morton sealed the three points and had us top going into September.

Also a clean sweep of the monthly awards, fully deserved for McKenna and Morton even though I feel the personal award is a bit merit less considering only two games were played.

Happy days on the field but off it the financial situation looks a bit bleak, something that I need to address somewhere along the line.

It's not ideal I know but with others going as Athlone Town and Brechin being my only other option I decided to give it a go. Try and build my rep up with Brechin anyway and I'll see where I go from there.

An unbeaten start to the month with a dull game at Ayr to start off with. Back to goalscoring ways against East Fife with Jackson and new boy McKernon scoring a peach of a free kick. Backs to the wall stuff as East Fife got one back with 10 minutes to play but we held on for the three points. Alan Trouten put us ahead against Alloa before Smith's poor clearance lead to Stephen Simmons scoring into an empty net from 30 yards. First defeat of the season at the hands of Albion despite us taking the lead through Jackson, two goals in the final 15 minutes saw us knocked off the top spot for the first time this season. A second defeat on the bounce with Stranraer leading 2-0 by half-time we went full out attack and despite Jackson pulling one back we squandered some great opportunities to not take a point.

A very tight league so far with only 5 points between top and bottom but I'm confident with the squad at my disposal that we can still be around the top come the end of the season.

Trio of signings on deadline day, all brought in just to add that extra depth in quality we need and already the "youngin's" seem to be doing alright.

Seriously I don't know whats happened to this team, Wingers never attempt crosses, center midfielders shoot from 30 yards every chance they get, can't defend corners, it's just terrible at the moment.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj589/jackyd157/lackofshots-1.jpg

Pretty much sums it up, ball gets played about the middle switched to the wings a bit eventually back to one of the midfielders who tries a shot on goal, no attempt to get the strikers involved even with crosses set at often and long shots rarely.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj589/jackyd157/tableoct-1.jpg

Still a long way to go and not a lot in it but the turnaround needs to start soon.

Only positive of the month, hopefully get some players in January.

Difficult draw against Rangers in the Scottish Cup and despite there side being fielded mostly by youngsters they just played us off the park. 3-0 inside 20 minutes they added another one before the break. Decided to revert back to 442 from a 451 counter in the second half and we created a few chances and looked a lot more solid at the back.

Back to league business and our first goal in four games came in rather comical fashion as O'Brien's shot cannoned off the post and hit the back of keeper Scott Bain to put us in front. 10 minutes left to play and a quick counter from Alloa was finished off on the edge of the box by Darren Young to deny us our first win in 7 games.

Finally though we did get our victory. Stenhousemuir reduced to 10 men after Brown Ferguson was dismissed after 12 minutes and it was only a matter of time before we went in front. A match we dominated from start to finish and Alan Trouten got the goal we were looking for in the 74th minute..

Three consecutive draws starting at Ayr where we were 2-0 down with only 15 on the clock. Scott Dalziel got his first for the club soon after before Trouten once again got on the scoresheet to level the game late on.

2 goalless draws to end the month, firstly East Fife in a game which could of gone either way and on reflection a point was probably a fair result. Complete opposite against Albion Rovers though with us dominating possession but of our 11 shots only a few were from inside the box which is something I'm really getting annoyed at.

Such a tight league but Queen of the South look strong favourites for the only automatic promotion spot so our focus has to be on getting into the play offs. Even saying that the way this league is going we might be fighting for promotion while also in a relegation battle. We're the leagues lowest scorers but we've conceded the fewest which is something to be positive about.

Lads, you do have goal bonuses in your contracts, you do know that don't you?
