Unlucky to United, the ref fucked them over and made himself the centre of attention.

I can't stand reading all the kopites made up Man Utd have been beat on facebook. If that was an Everton fan putting statuses about Liverpool we'd be getting called bitter and everything. But no doubt Kopites will make up some sort of excuse for them 'not being bitter'.

Oh that's right because United fans were extremely dissappointed when we lost in the Europa League, or any other game for that matter. Clown.

Really??

Nani will probably get a three game ban for that challenge on Arbeloa. If a goalkeeper comes out to punch a ball clear, misses and cleans up a players head don't you see the potential danger waiting to happen there??

The NRL out here have banned the shoulder charge over fears it can lead to dangerous situations involving the head and I certainly wouldn't want to be punched in the head by a goalkeeper either.

Btw fucking ridiculous with all these ref's a cunt and all that. He made a mistake, fair enough, I'm sure he didn't purposely send Nani off, he saw it once not about 20 times with replays. Nani going in like that doesn't help him, or the fact the Real Madrid player is rolling round the floor.

And all well blaming the referee but I doubt Nani would have done much to do with either of the goal and can only blame yourself for missing some glorious chances near the end.

Yes.

Having 11 players would have not helped us at all.

Fucking Utd fans.

Torres did a similar challenge on a Utd player in our game earlier this season (He got a yellow).
Utd fans went mental. Used it to justify him getting sent off later (for nothing).

Pick a side.

It's extremely similar actually - high foot with no real intention of hurting the opposing player.

Both not red cards. Both yellow cards - not surprising to see you don't agree though as one was for Man Utd and one was against. Ridiculous amount of bias and slander in here.

For what its worth though - Utd were the better team tonight and probably should have gone through - shit happens though and at the end of the day they missed glorious opportunities to win. Rooney/VP/Welbeck all should have scored goals in that match and didn't. Ferguson not speaking to the media afterwards was extremely petty, and the reaction of some of the Man Utd players at the final whistle was extremely poor - Ferdinand especially - what a bellend. Erodes the small bit of sympathy that I had for Man Utd tbh!

It's also nice to see now that Manchester United fans are starting to agree with the rest of the normal and logical footballing population that Roy Keane is a complete cockmaster too \o/

Meanwhile it looks like the only United left in Europe is that wee club in the North East.

Strange world.

Hardly.

Both had no intention, but Nani was clearly going for a loose ball and had absolutely no possible way of seeing Arbeloa until the second his studs catch his arm/hip (not his chest, as Arbeloa tried to act out) the Torres one is clearly at greater speed, at a player whose exact location he knows and makes far greater contact.

Massive difference between the two.

This place seems to have imploded upon itself tonight. Plenty of ridiculous bias in here from all sections.

I do genuinely feel for Manchester United - even though I wanted them to go out - because I, as well as every other football fan, know what it's like to see your side screwed over by an awful refereeing decision. It sucks, but it's a part of the game. There's such a tribal nature to the modern game that sees such petty arguments break out between fans of the big sides when something happens like tonight, and this culture of oneupmanship completely blinds some fans from logic and reason. I'm guilty of it sometimes but some of the things I've read tonight have taken it to a new level. This myth that Manchester United get all the decisions is complete horseshit by the way, and as much as I dislike them and some of their fans it really pisses me off when people come out with shit about them getting 'a taste of their own medicine' after being fucked over tonight - if you really think that, then shut the fuck up because you're deluded.

The one thing I did want to say about the game, although I'll probably get slated for it, is that I was really disappointed by Ferdinand's reaction after the final whistle. I can completely understand his frustration, as the decision to send Nani off was ludicrous and in the heat of the moment emotions can get the better of you, but I felt sarcastically applauding in front of the referee's face reeked of petulance and sets an awful message to any young viewers - if the referee makes a decision you don't like, you're well within your rights to completely disrespect him. Whatever you think of the decision itself, the fact remains that he made the decision believing in his own mind that it was the correct one to make. It happens in football, and it enrages me when Arsenal or Celtic are on the end of an official's mistake, but that doesn't give anyone the right to openly mock and disrespect an official like Ferdinand did.

I'm sure all of the United fans on here will attack me for saying that but it's how I feel. I understand why he did it but I completely disagreed with it.

I love the United hate. We're not allowed to be an upset when a decision goes against us.

I'm so proud of our team last night. Such a massive injustice, but we were better over the two legs tbh, up until the Nani red card Madrid didn't have any real clear cut chances. We were comfortable and we lost thanks to the ref.

All that being said Madrid did amazingly well to take advantage of the extra man, really impressive.

Oh well.

Police are urging Nottinghamshire residents to think before they dial after a football fan, so disgusted with the referee’s decision to send-off a player in last night’s Champions League clash, rang 999.

The 18-year-old Manchester United supporter was watching the second-leg tie against Real Madrid from his home in a village near Bingham at around 9.20pm last night (Tuesday 5 March 2013) when he made the call.

He felt the moment Reds winger Nani was controversially dismissed for a high challenge was a crime and so decided to call police.

He later apologised for his actions, claiming to have been caught up in the excitement.

I do wonder whether it was a wind-up or if he was genuinely so angry that he felt calling the police was the best option.
