I'm beginning to feel more confident about our top four chances now - we're a point off of Tottenham if we win our game in hand and two behind Chelsea now, who are going into a highly congested period.

We weren't even that good, I'd say you missed Tiote and Krul.

I know Man City weren't that good, but they looked as if they had another gear, like in the 5 minute spell before HT.

Hard fought win, amazing goal by Mirallas.

Yeah, you could tell you were down to bare bones. I just think Krul and Tiote left the biggest gaps. There's no way Krul would have conceded Yaya's goal, for instance, and Tiote would have provided an actual barrier in central midfield.
I didn't even notice Jonas was playing until the 41st minute.
I just thought the scoreline flattered us a bit.

About time

Although this has put Sunderland vs United first on MOTD, saves me staying up waiting for it. Sweet.

Robbie Elliot still played pretty good tbf and the damage was done by the time he let Yaya's in. If he's going to make a mistake, I'd rather it be 3-0 down than make one next week against Fulham, although Krul may be back by then.
Yeah I though the scoreline flattered you a bit, it felt more like a convincing 3-0 defeat, rather than a proper rout.
Bit surprised by the MON sacking, didn't seem to be too much pressure. That said I doubt Ellis Short takes prisoners. And will most likely be annoyed at MON spending £30m + wages on 3 players and Sunderland being even worse than last year.

I'm not sure it's that as Elliott did pull off a lot of good saves. We can't say Tiote would've helped either as he has looked poor all season. But we're desperate enough to be playing Simpson and Obertan, and both of them were thoroughly awful. We should've tried the attack tactics we did against MUFC, which caught them by surprise until the end, but I think we're saving something for a chance at EL semis and/or the biggest fish v Fulham and Sunderland. Talking of which...
If there was a suitable time to get rid of O'Neill, it was not now. It was ages ago, when they still had the security of a cushion above the drop zone and time to make a reasonable informed decision. Seven to go is not an advised time to make such an important change, especially given their situation and brutal fixture list.
If the new guy fields a team that duly tanks in the Derby in 2 weeks, they're fucked.

BR.
Waiting until the inevitable defeat to United before getting rid of him was a bit odd.
Good result for West Ham, Big Sam specialises in games like today. Carroll's second was very nicely took.

I can see why MON went, shocking transfers, shocking performances he's done nothing there.
