I never quite understand why teams bother with long contracts cause they mean sod all

It's PR really. It's to give potential critics as little to work with, in regards to their faith in the new manager and the time available to him, as possible.

Hopefully the board giving him that long contract means they'll wait a few years before evaluating how well he's done.

Not my first choice, but I'm sure he's going to do well. Hopefully us giving him a six year deal means we're going to give him time to adjust.

Whoever it was going to be they'd have my full support and I'm sure all United fans will support him.

David Johnson on twitter btw (former United youth team player, guaranteed mates with at least Welbeck and likely many more at the club) reckons Rooney will be in Germany next year, got an excellent record because he usually just tweets what he hears.

Moyes has been my choice for a few years. I am pretty excited for next year regardless of where we finish

I'd probably favour City or Chelsea for the league next season but I reckon Moyes will prove a success in the long-run. United seem to have a great structure in place to allow him to succeed, even if there's a slightly shaky transitional phase at the start.

Well it all depends on what happens during the summer at Chelsea and City.

I mean with Mourinho coming back he's inheriting a new squad and would depend on how things go there, although you'd expect as per usual with Mourinho he'll do very well. As for City I don't know if Mancini will still be around and if he is then it depends on how well he's able to strengthen. All I know is next season should be an absolute belter, I can't wait. I guess what I'm trying to say is potentially we could have three new managers at United, Chelsea and City, it'll be very interesting.

Mourinho knows how to handle the expectation at a massive club like Chelsea and he's used to spending big. I don't know what'll happen at City but if they do replace Mancini I'm sure it'll be for one of the best, and they'll spend big in the summer given their shortcomings this season. I like Moyes, but I'd predict that it'll be extremely hard for him to hit the ground running and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a dip in United fortunes whilst Fergie's departure is still fresh in the memory.

I think it's difficult to gauge how much of United's success this season was down to Ferguson's presence, as don't think this current group of players are as talented as the ones United have had in the past. Without him, Chelsea and City will become far more formidable opponents next season.

Honestly at this point in time I don't think we'll win the league, but I don't think we'll be very far off the pace. Personally I'd give Moyes about three years to see what he can do and after that look elsewhere if we're not winning anything. I agree the squad we have at the moment might not be as good as squads we've had in the past but some of the talent in the squad at the moment are very young.

Our squad this season has been one of the strongest we've ever had. Our first 11 might not be, but the strength in depth has certainly been a big factor in winning the league in the way we have.

Indeed, seeing how much we've just won the league by it's crazy how under-rated the squad is.

A midfielder and the wingers performing and this is probably the best group Ferguson ever assembled.

I'd fucking hate it if he ended up at City. The only worse transfer would be Terry.
