Yeah, that seems pretty good. Samsung are alright, i7, screen is pretty large but I'm sure you're aware of that. I'd get that then grab 2GB of RAM and shove it in.

I seem to have broken my laptop and was wondering if anyone could shed any light on how much its going to cost to fix or if there is a way to do it myself. My battery is wrecked so it doesn't hold a charge so its constantly left on charge while in use, not so long ago the charger fell out and the laptop just switched off, when i booted it back up it came up with the "Windows didn't shut down correctly last time" or something along those lines It suffered from a fatal error & wouldn't run properly. Every time i tried to run a error check on the hard drive the laptop would just cut off and i'd have to start again. After doing this a good 15 times it finally managed to complete the check without cutting off but was still running really slow. So I thought if i wipe the hard drive and re-install windows again it might sort out the issue or at least clear up that it was a corrupt hard drive. After starting the process it got about 8% and cut off. every time i try again it cuts off so now the laptop is completely useless every time i turn it on it boots up the software to wipe the hard drive and cuts off because it got to 8% of wiping i cant load windows now. any ideas how to get round this or is it totally fuc*ed

Seems like a new hard drive might be needed. What version of Windows are you installing?

I have a problem with full screen mode, for some reason the taskbar stays on top, ive tried unlocking it for nothing changed. Its fine with games but pisses me off with Youtube videos as the taskbar is in the way of the volume control etc. Was fine up until a couple of weeks or so ago and is probably something really simple ffs.

Try to install Windows XP. If that doesn't install its defo the hard drive that needs replacing.

Im wanting to Overclock my Processor, i have a Intel Pentium Dual E2160 @ 1.80GHz, i know the 775 socket range can be over clocked to around 2.7GHz with ease, however the computer is a Packard Bell, on the system settings it gives me a different Motherboard model number to the one on the actual Motherboard, as its an OEM this means the overclocking feature has been disabled, so i somehow need to reflash the newest BIOS and hope it unlocks the Overclocking feature. How would i do this?? I have two model numbers, google doesn't help with it either.

Just wondering if anyone has ever come across this kind of problem before?

Just want to double check something with any of you that have used Comodo Antivirus in the past.

With the free antivirus you get a 30 trial for Comodo's Geek Buddy and Anti-Error tools. My trials expired ages ago and when I started my laptop earlier a pop-up for Anti-Error said there were issues it needed to fix. Cause for concern or typical marketing trick?

Edit: Seems it's just a marketing thing.

If you need something to randomly bastardise stories why don't you just go the whole hog and get a Daily Mail subscription?

So I decided to try Windows 7 after 12 years of using XP and so far I find it absolutely awful.

I hate change!

Chromebooks here. A lot to choose from. On 'Make A Switch' page it'll give you more info about them.

But in regards with Windows laptops, I've no idea where to look. Chromebook is a good cheap option to have.

Does a Chomebook offer the same functions and programs as a laptop.

It's different to Windows, different OS which is more stripped back. Primarily used for everything you do on the internet and working with documents, they have huge battery life and they're reasonably priced. Chromebook is a viable option, but only a suggestion!

If you want something more familiar then go for a Windows laptop. As I say I'm not good at finding those, there's too many to choose from. I imagine someone else on here will be able to recommend one.

Build one, it works out cheaper.

What will it be used for?

Looks good on paper.

Building hasn't been cheap since mining kicked off sadly.

Prices have been on the downwards spiral for GPUs for a while now. You can pick up a GTX 1080 second hand for around £250.
