Editor Issues

Can someone please help me out?

I just spent a couple hours editing players and teams, etc. in my editor, only for me to save these changes on config.xml or whatever.

I started a new game and all the updates were there. Now, today I started another new game and all my changes were gone. I went to the editor and it still says that the config file was updated last night, but there are no changes.

Thus, I just wasted a couple hours doing nothing. Anyone know what the issue is here? Do I have to save my edits under a different name/file?
