AFC Wimbledon is a team that I have never managed on Football Manager and fancied the challenge.
As you can see I was promoted, superb season all around from the lads.
Over all a superb set of results. Though if we had really cut out a couple of sloppy result we could have gone up automatically though in the end fell well back on third.
I wasn't pleased with the results in the cups at all and that is something to address next time out.
The whole team played their part but I promise a shake up in the ranks for League One.

However the summer started well with the news of the stadium getting a revamp with the terrace being replaced to fit seats.
Budget wise we were pretty lucky too, though I wasn't looking to break the bank to get in the players that I was after. However a reasonable wage budget and transfer budget for a 'small' side in this league.
To keep you further from the suspense here is my team and the transfers that I made.
Anyone that want's to see a picture of any of the players I have signed just say, don't want to bore you all with it! However sadly both Appiah and Smith are out now for 5-6 months each with differing lengthy injuries. Typical!
Finances don't look to bad either, trying my best to keep the budget well under control.
However as you can see from the stats of the team we have played some games already and in fact it is to the end of August.
Not a bad start eh! Delighted with being five games unbeaten in the league above and the win at The King Power was just excellent.
We were actually 2-0 up before being pegged back from the penalty spot and seeing Bennett sent off. It was then 2-2 and could see where the game was going before loan player Zach Clough scored the second of his brace. Superb.

Still unbeaten and progressing in the FA Cup which is a key thing. I want a cup run though don't want it to upset the balance of the side. As I say at the moment we are tough to break down which is something I would love to keep going.
Colchester at home in Round two, could have been tougher.
And on a personal note:
Was thinking about the Aberdeen job but at this time I decided to decline all the offers and concentrate on AFC Wimbledon.

Thanks pal, over the moon with the start I have made!

So there is the League. We are in a decent position to make a move on second though of course we are due a bad run at some point so in that respect slipping out the play offs is possible too. Hopefully we can keep our foot on the gas. We actually play Leicester next at home and that could be a telling game for us this season.
Anyway, Fabulous for us in the FA Cup, drawing Arsenal away in the third round. Okay we lost 4-1 but who cares? It is my bank balance that I was worried about seeing afterwards. Incidentally we were on t
Almost £2m in the bank now and a good projection for us at the end of the season too, excellent stuff!
And here is the team. Midson and Clough had struck a good partnership and with Appiah and Smith coming back into the side after lengthy injuries we have lots of good competition for the striking positions. Absolutely can't wait to see how the seasons carries on for us either way and whatever happens beating the drop was the ultimate aim and playing well above the players abilities in some respects has been a great surprise.

So now this is what the stadium is looking like.
It was an indifferent month however, pretty much as expected though a little dip in form but continuing to generally be hard to beat. The loss to Bradford was hard to take though, they deserved the win but a last minute winner was heartbreaking.
This is the league then going into March and just 11 games to go. I say just 11 that is 33 points to play for and plenty can still happen at this time.
Whilst I think the auto places are well out of our reach now though not impossible securing a play off place will far and away beat the expectations of anyone at the start of the season. Me included. To be fair I am going to aim to be the team with the least losses at the end of the season and for now that is my only aim.
Also I can't help but lick my lips at the prospect of a two legged Play Off against MK Dons, now that would be a serious crowd pleaser!
Also during February I have signed a young lad in the hopes of his potential ability of five stars being exactly what can happen. For just £26k though he is an inexpensive risk and I have signed him on a three year deal.

Unbeaten till we go to Brentford and a 94th minute winner steals a brilliant draw away from us. I was gutted to be honest because that loss is probably the end of the automatic promotion dream for us.
As you can see had we beaten Brentford we would have been sitting just two points behind them which would have been just amazing but sadly it wasn't to be. On the plus side it does look as if the play offs will be for us again. You will all notice the collapse of MK Dons! It has been quite incredible that one.
Another young Irish man will join us for the start of the new season.

Unbeaten month for us, though again not being able to get the win has bitten us really. In the end it doesn't matter we are way and above our expectations and that is all that matters.
Guaranteed a play off place however which is a good thing indeed, would much rather avoid Leicester and not finish in 6th though of course that does look unlikely.
