Deals for duo

Pompey have signed ex-Toulouse midfielder Fodé Mansaré on a contract until the end of next season.

And Hamilton goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert will also be joining Fratton Park for 18 months.

Blues boss Joe Jordan said: “We were eager to bring Fodé in when we knew he was available because he’s a quality player who will help add an extra spark in the final third.

“He hasn't been in involved in football since he left France in 2011 and is hungry to play. He jumped at the chance to come here, which is a good sign.

“Cuthbert has been playing well for Hamilton this season and he'll provide some good competition for Keita in goal.”

Mansaré, 32, joined Toulouse from Montpellier in June 2005. He scored seven goals in 128 appearances for the French club and also represented the Guinea National side 44 times in his career.

Portsmouth Football Club can also confirm that Trevor Carson and .Kyle Hammond have terminated their loan deals with the club and returned to their parent clubs Bury and Ipswich respectively.

Portsmouth sign another two players, and three are poised to leave

Play-off chasers Portsmouth expect transfer-listed players Patrick Agyemang, Tom Craddock and Ryan Bird to agree to mutually terminate their contracts with the club soon.

And manager Joe Jordan has confirmed that two players have joined the club.

Defensive midfielder Sebastian Svard arrives from Wycombe Wanderers and centre half Wilson Souprayen who was without a club.

"Wilson will go straight into the squad for Saturday and will be pushing for a starting place with the other centre half's," said Jordan

"Sebastian gives us added reliability and mettle in the midfield. He's played for Arsenal, he's played in the Football League... and he'll give us good balance and depth."

The former QPR coach confirmed that there had been movement with all three transfer-listed players.

"Some of them might go through before the end of the weekend or perhaps early next week if they [the players] decide it's the right thing for them," said Jordan.

Ryan and Tom were summer signings, while Agyemang joined from Stevenage in February.

None of the three have been used regularly this season.

Jordan is keen to trim the squad to make way for more new signings during the January transfer window.

Portsmouth are 8th in League Two with for wins in their last five games.

Portsmouth's second-half rally saw the League Two side shock Championship side Doncaster Rovers in a thrilling FA Cup third-round tie.

The hosts went ahead when Theo Robinson placed a shot low to convert James Husbands's left-wing cross.

Billy Sharp went close two times for Doncaster, before Wes Fogden's optimistic shot hauled Portsmouth level.

But Ricky Holmes's free-kick was met by Wade Elliott whose precision finish earned the Blues a place in the fourth round draw.

Portsmouth manager Joe Jordan told BBC Radio Solent:

"The form is good, but I'm looking at performances and I'm more than happy. If we perform similar to the way we have done today, we'll get results.

"I was really pleased that our result has reflected the performance.

"We were a little too negative with our possession in the first half but we stepped it up in the second and it's difficult for the opposition to stop us.

"It's the way I want to see the game played and the players are more than comfortable with accepting the challenge of playing expansive football. At the minute, it's all good."

Winger the latest to arrive at Fratton

Pompey have completed the signing of winger James Fanchone on an 18-month deal.

The 33-year-old was a free agent after leaving Le Havre and will wear the number 19 shirt for the Blues.

He said: “I’m very happy to be here and I just want to start playing some games now.

“I’ve been sat on the bench at Le Havre and asked the manager if I could leave. He said yes and when I heard that Portsmouth were interested it was an easy decision.

“It’s a club with a massive fanbase and I can’t wait to show the supporters just what I can do.

“I’ll work hard and bring other people into play – hopefully I’ll also create a few goals to help the team climb the league.

“It feels like I’m coming in at a time when things are starting to look up, I look forward to being a part of that.”

Fanchone started his career at Le Mans, where he made 232 appearances before spells at Strasbourg and Lorient before signing for the Sky and Sea in the summer of 2011.

Jack Price: Portsmouth sign midfielder

Portsmouth have signed midfielder Jack Price on loan until the end of the season.

Price, 21, is a product of the Wolverhampton Wanderers youth set-up and has spent all of his career there to-date.

He has made only one first team appearance for Wolves, and this is his first spell of football away from Molineux.

Meanwhile, Pompey have confirmed that four more players have departed the club, goalkeeper Phil Smith completing a permanent move to Queens Park Rangers with Yassine Moutaouakil, Kane Cook and Josh Warren agreeing contract terminations.

Winger returns from injury

Pompey manager Joe Jordan has confirmed Andy Barcham will be back in contention for next weekend's away clash with Oxford United.

The former Scunthorpe winger returns after missing three weeks due to a knee injury.

Jordan told portsmouthfc.co.uk: "Andy was training with us today.

"So the encouraging thing for us is that he should be available for the game next weekend.

"It's come at a good time and we hope he returns on the same vein of form he was on before he picked up the injury, and it also gives me options now because the matches have been coming thick and fast.

"We've played four games in eleven days and it will take its toll on one or two players so I might have to change things, although we do have a fair few new faces in the squad now.

"I'm certainly not frightened of changing a winning side."

Meanwhile, the boss also confirmed central midfielder Simon Ferry is still around four weeks away with an ankle injury.

Elsewhere, left-back Nicky Shorey is nearing a recovery from a virus.

"Ferry has been at rehab and it's too soon to think about when to introduce him into any kind of training just yet.

"He's still undergoing scans as we go to make sure that he isn't doing too much in his desperation to get back as soon as he can.

"Nicky Shorey is not far away now.

"He picked up a wee virus that has totally floored him lately, so our only option was to have him stay home and rest up.

"So the noises we're getting from the treatment room are very good and very positive.

"Hopefully there will be hardly anyone in there now."

Portsmouth: Adda Djeziri returns to the club

Portsmouth have signed former Blackpool forward Adda Djeziri.

Djeziri, 25, joined the Seasiders on a permanent deal last summer, but failed to make a single first-team appearance before moving to Scunthorpe United on loan for a spell.

He made four appearances for the League Two club, before returning to Blackpool where his contract was not renewed.

This will not be the Danish forward's first spell at Fratton Park, having signed for Portsmouth under Harry Redknapp in January 2008 before leaving in May of the same year.

Meanwhile, a further three players have left the Hampshire club, Thierry Racon and Ben Chorley leaving the club as well as Daniel Alfei returning to parent club Swansea after terminating his loan deal early.

Accrington Stanley strengthened their hold on the top spot in League Two and extended their winning run to six games as James Gray's goal gave them victory at Portsmouth.

The home side went close in the first half when Wade Elliott clipped the bar and then dragged a shot wide of the post.

Just before the quarter-hour mark, James Gray raced through on goal and his attempt found it's way past Abdoulaye Keita and into the net.

Adda Djeziri's goalbound effort for Pompey was blocked by Dean Winnard as Portsmouth pushed for an equaliser.

Portsmouth may also have a valid reason to feel disgruntled after seeing a Wes Fogden's headed goal disallowed late on in the match.

Portsmouth manager Joe Jordan told BBC Radio Solent:

"We didn't play as well as we have played in the past. We always knew it was going to be a tough game against a very good, top-of-the-table Accrington side.

"I'm not sure whether we deserved it, I don't think we deserved to lose it really.

"I thought they started well. I thought we came into the game a lot more especially towards the last 10 minutes of the first half and then second half for some reason we just couldn't get going.

"The disallowed goal wrankles a bit because I felt that it was a perfectly good goal.

"We responded well and pushed for the equaliser but they were able to cope with everything we threw into their box today."

Blues sign former Dijon Defender

Pompey have signed left-back Lesly Malouda - younger brother of former Chelsea winger Florent - on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old will wear the number 15 shirt during his time at Fratton Park.

Blues boss Joe Jordan said: “We needed an extra body in that left-back position.

“Lesly gives us another good option in that area and we’re grateful to have the opportunity to bring him in.”

Malouda started his career at RC Lens and he made 28 appearances on loan at Istres before joining Dijon in the summer of 2009.

He has played 56 times for the French side, but found himself surplus to requirements at Stade Gaston Gérard.

Dave Kitson scored twice as Oxford beat Portsmouth to gain them an important three points in their quest to move out of the bottom-end of the table.

The former Portsmouth man headed home from close range early on after a series of errors and doubled his tally by firing a shot past Abdoulaye Keita.

Pompey weren't totally out of the game as they pulled level through Wade Elliott's 45th minute free-kick gave the vocal visiting fans hope.

Joe Devera and Danny East both had late chances to level but Oxford held on.

The Blues have seen their play-off push falter after two consecutive defeats.

I know mate but I hope when my new signings settle in we will knock them off their perch. I reckon a combination of new signings an trying to get the team used to a new tactic mid-season isn't helping. Squad will get stronger though.

We are sitting 10th in the league right now, 5 points off the play-off places and 14 points off the top spot. I'm gonna' post a BBC News style League TAble update later and try incorporate that in 4/5 times a season.

Full-back arrives at Fratton Park

Pompey have signed Mike Mampuya on a free transfer deal that will initially run for 18-months.

The 30-year-old full-back had six months left on his contract at Livingston and the club agreed to allow him to move early.

He said: “I’ve never played at Fratton Park before and there but I have been told that there is a great atmosphere, so I am delighted to have a chance to play for the fans here.

“You can never say anything for definite in football, but with experienced people like Joe Jordan and Steve Kember here then it will only be a matter of time before we get back to where we want to be.”

Blues boss Joe Jordan added: “We sent a scout up north a couple of times to watch Mike and there has been some positive feedback.

“He’s an experienced player and has played in Belgium, Netherlands and Cyprus. That counts for a lot.

“He’s also keen to come to Pompey and be a part of where we want to go as a club.”

Mampuya started his career at Verviers before moving to Anderlecht in 1998 and then onto Genk in 2001.

While with the Belgian club, he failed to make a single first-team appearance before loan spells at KBHZ and Tonergen.

Mampuya made a total of 35 appearances during the spells before moving to VW Hamme in 2005 and then Lierse one year later.

He went on to spend time at Helmond Sport, VVV, Doxa Kat and Paralimni before moving to Livingston in summer 2013.

Portsmouth FC can also confirm that Nicky Shorey, Bondz N'Gala, George Branford and Nick Awford have agreed contract terminations and left the club. The club thanks the players for their service and wish them the best in the rest of their career's.

Portsmouth sign Luke Giverin and Bira Dembélé

Portsmouth have sealed deals for ex-Manchester United full-back Luke Giverin and former Rennes central defender Bira Dembélé.

Pompey have now signed a total of 12 players so far in the January transfer window.

Giverin, 20, is a product of the youth set-up at Manchester United and spent last season at their Belgian feeder club Antwerp where he made 24 appearances.

Dembélé, 25, began his career at Rennes but spent last season at Ligue 2 side Sedan.

"I felt we needed to boost our numbers at the back and add some real quality," said Pompey boss Joe Jordan.

"Both of the lads have great pedigree at Manchester United and Rennes, they are still young so they still have time to perfect their game."

Portsmouth put their promotion challenge back on-track with a 2-0 victory over mid-table Mansfield.

Mansfield defended well until a Wade Elliott corner from the left was met by Bira Dembelé, who nodded home.

The advantage was doubled when Elliott dispossessed Lee Beevers to slot the ball past Alan Marriott.

A smart save from Abdoulaye Keita denied Bryan Prunty, as the Blues held on for their first win in three matches.

Portsmouth manager Joe Jordan told BBC Radio Solent:

"I thought it was outstanding in terms of the football we played.

"Great credit to Mansfield to come here and make a game of it.

"It shows the commitment of these players, where Abdoulaye Keita's made a few outstanding saves.

"We needed to stop the rot of defeats and we did just that with a great performance."

Robbie Threlfall's second goal of the season helped Morecambe beat Portsmouth 2-0 at The Globe Arena.

The 25-year-old full-back fired in a stunning free-kick from the edge of the penalty area to give Morecambe the lead on 69 minutes.

Jack Redshaw sealed the win with an optimistic shot, having shooting over the crossbar early in the first period.

Pompey, who have lost three of their last four games, will be wondering how they managed to lost the game after enjoying a much larger share of possession with more shots on target.

Portsmouth manager Joe Jordan told BBC Radio Solent:

"I'd have to say for the first half I thought we were the best team. We had a couple of really good chances, but it isn't anywhere near good enough.

"We have had a lot of layers coming and going in the past few weeks but they need to settle in and quickly or we will lose sight of the play-off places.

"There's no point hiding - three losses in for matches is nowhere near acceptable for this club. There's a lot of problems and it needs sorting out very quickly."

On Morecambe's goals: "They're both good finishes but we can't keep saying they're good finishes. They're good finishes because people worked hard to go and get on the end of things and they worked hard and they ran and they chased and they picked up second balls.

"We're going to have to put a stop to this very quickly and change peoples' mentalities because all I hear about is moaning and that isn't happening anymore."

Squad Rebuild Continues

Portsmouth today can confirm the arrivals of three new players at the club as the board continue to back Joe Jordan in his rebuilding of the squad.

Middlesbrough defender Seb Hines, Cowdenbeath full-back and former Athletic Bilbao attacking midfielder Fran Yeste are the latest recruits to join Joe Jordan's revolution.

Centre-back Hines, 25, has spent his entire career at The Boro and joins on a loan deal until the end of the season. He is also returning from a long-term injury and it was agreed between the clubs that Fratton Park would be the ideal place for the player to build up his match-fitness. He has been given the squad number 39.

Scottish full-back Brett has also spent his career so far at one club, with a loan deal at Scottish amateur side Tranent in 2010/11 being his only time spent elsewhere. It is thought he will challenge Mike Mampuya for the right-back spot in the team and will wear the number 29.

Spanish midfield maestro Yeste began his career at Bilbao in 1996 and went on to spells at Al-Wasl, Olympiacos and Baniyas. The Spaniard will undoubtedly add some extra creativity for the side in the final third. He will wear the shirt number 10 for the club.

The Club have also confirmed that French midfielder Romain Padovani, English midfielder Michael Bridges and Venezuelan defender Joe Devera have departed the club after being deemed surplus to requirements.

Sheffield Wednesday came from two goals down to beat Portsmouth in the FA Cup fourth round.

Pompey started the match well and were rewarded on 10 minutes midfielder Wes Fogden's long range shot rocketed into the net.

Connor Coady's header made it 2-0 just after the half-hour mark before Wednesday's Keiran Lee replied with a header of his own to make it 2-1.

Oguchi Onyewu added another headed goal to raise The Owls hopes and a superb Richard Brittain volley proved to be the winning goal and sent his side into the fifth round draw.

Portsmouth manager Joe Jordan told BBC Radio Solent:

"I don't appreciate losing the game of course but I appreciate the type of game and finish to it, and I appreciate the way we played, I can't fault the lads for their effort out there. So I have mixed feelings.

"We'd had an extremely good first half - we matched them well, defended the goal and had counter attacks.

"It was us all over, and I still thought we were in with a shout even at 2-2 at half-time."

"At 3-2 we kept going and you just don't know what's around the corner. Well done to the players who finished the game, they played on real instinct and real determination and I loved the way they played."
