After a looong hiatus I have returned to FM and accordingly, this fine site.
Midway through my first season with Brentford and it's not going very well:
League table
What's evidently killing me is my terrible defence - third worst in the league!
League Table sorted by Goals Conceded
Here's my team line-up. I play a 4-5-1 Hardly the most attacking formation ever.
So what am I doing wrong? A lot of the goals I concede are from 'spontaneous' set pieces like corners.
(Also, how do I embed imgur pictures? I'm rusty to all of this stuff again!)
thanks
Edit: perhaps I should have put this in the tactics forum, but I'm not really looking for in-depth tactical analysis, more of just a "wtf is this shit" type post.

You can then usually decipher who is the weak link in your defence. (Mine is usually the fucking right back. Damn problem position that is.)

Maybe your 'not the most attacking' formation is actually the issue, your side surely should have enough about them to control games and therefore by adopting a more attacking philosophy you will actually prevent the other side from having as much of the ball therefore they can't create the chances that are winning set pieces.
It's hard to say just by looking at a tactic but I think by being a bit more adventurous it may stop you shipping as many goals, consider using the control mentality. Also I would recommend using different roles for your 2 central midfielders, possibly a deep lying playmaker alongside a ball winning midfielder or box to box midfielder, providing these roles suit your players obviously.
