Got pretty bored with things. Had to mix it up; new game, same old team. No lengthy updates just short and to the point. I will be going for mostly young Scottish talent and looking to develop it. I’ll also be working within a £30k p/w wage cap.

Versatility is key. A great loan signing IMO; he's Scottish, been seasoned in the Championship and out of contract in the summer. He can play right across the midfield and adds some experience to the squad. But he does throw like a girl.

Bit of an injury crisis this month and with Inverness right up our arse it hasn't helped. Trying to prioritise the Champions League has been tough and I'm having to promote a few youngsters for the league. But it payed off and we are in the last 16, with a match to spare!

Very busy month so far. Five league matches and a host of transfers/contracts to sort out. Even Leigh Griffiths scored after 23 hours (20 appearances). I also set up a counter attacking strategy similar to Diego Simeone's Athletico Madrid side.

Brought in to replace the recently departed Steven Mouyokolo, more the type of defender I am looking for. Can offer cover for Charlie Mulgrew as a ball playing defender and even gives me the option of playing a sweeper.

Not my first choice to replace Beram Kayal, but injury meant my first choice failed a medical. Works out better this way for now, I think. He’s younger, on a smaller wage and just as versatile. Again versatility is key.

I know I had a wage cap of £40k p/w but for £3 million I could not turn him down. I plan a big clear-out in the summer with a few high earners in mind so our wage will should be less that it is the now anyway. Dont know how I managed to get him so cheap considering he has 30 in 40 for all competitions so far for Blackburn.

Not been a great month. We had to make a comeback against Partick Thistle but we did lift our first trophy of the season and reach the Champions League Quarter Final for the first time. I also signed a 2-year extension.

Disappointed to go out the Champions League on away goals, but massively over-perfomed over the course of the season. The league was wrapped up in the draw with Dundee Utd, now I've got the chance to play some youngsters.

A shit end to the season for us, mainly down to me mixing the squad up and trying some new things tactically. That failed. Next seasons league results is what I'm looking to build on. All-in-all we won the league by 15 points, a lack of goals from the strikers didn't help us out. Jordan Rhodes should be a vital signing next season in out quest for 100 points.

1. Reach at least 94 points over the season

Well I already have Jordan Rhodes coming in, and Tony Watt returning from loan, so I should be all set in that department. I will need a new left winger as Georgios Samaras is set to join Nottingham Forrest and Derk Boerrigter is transfer listed by request.

Pre-season 2014

I had just under £9 million to play with and whatever I could raise by selling the deadwood. The goal was simple; to make a profit, reduce the wage bill and improve the squad. Also we had a tour of Germany during pre-season followed by some English opposition.

The only player I didn’t want to sell but did was Mikel Lustig. I got an offer of £3.6 million and counter offered with £7.5 million, eventually settling for £7 million. He was in the last year of his deal and I have two good right backs.

First in was Pavel Savitskiy to replace Georgios Samaras/Derk Boerrigter on the left wing. The young Belarusian was a steal at that price and as an inside forward fits my tactics nicely. He also adds an extra option on the right wing.

Bargain of the century, Jordan Rhodes. He finished Championship top goal scorer with 29 in 46. I’m predicting he’ll surpass the 30-goal mark in the SPL. Also he’s ‘Scottish’ which is an extra bonus. Replaces both Amido Balde and Teemu Pukki.

Robert Sondgrass was next in to complete a pretty deadly front line. Transfer listed by Norwich I was able to snap him up at a cut price. His development was stalled after missing 5 months last season due to injury but give it until January and he should be a key player. He is also a well-documented Celtic fan.

Last in was Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, Dundee Utd wanted and arm and a leg for Andrew Robertson so I went with Taylor-Sinclair. A snip of the cost.

Got the 25 man squad that I want, doubt I'll make any more transfers this season unless I get an accessional offer and need to replace someone. Emilio Izaguirre is playing for a new deal. He wants a big wage rise and at his age I'm not too sure. So I might need to look into that position soon. And maybe a left winger as Kris Commons will be 31 next season.

The amount of little Scotland badges make me happy.

Don't really know what to say about the beginning of the season except it was awful. I don't understand why. The squad hasn't changed much and the tactics pretty much the same. Also very tough Champions League Group.
