That transfer window was incredible. entertaining for the media and the fans for sure. After 2 years living tough budget wise in Rome you've been let loose. Great squad you have. Any chance of a screen shot of tielemans and balanta?got them both at spartak moscow and wouldn't mind having a look how good they could become

Wow, you were well and truly like a kid in a candy store with all those transfers! I don't ever thank I've seen a close season with that much money change hands by one team! A great looking squad you have, good luck for the season.

So I was surprised when I saw you made £324m in the transfer window only to find out you went and spent £364m! Wow!! you'd think Roma starved you of a transfer budget or something

I really couldn't help myself Simon Dan with the spending. The departures however were as simple as they appeared and with so many leaving I had to bring in replacements. In the end however, plenty of future prospects also arrived. It was then that I really couldn't help myself!

Holy hell, that's some wheeler-dealer-ing going on there pal, a big risk but an exciting one nonetheless!

Tielemans must have developed pretty well to demand £62m?

I just hope it pays off KEZ otherwise I feel that in the long run City will become a real force with the squads talents I brought in and it'll make it much harder to compete against them in England and also in Europe which is something I'm also a little skeptical about for the future clubs I manage should I achieve it of course with Man City.

Both were pretty good last season but I think it's fair to say that with both being available at the start of a career on FM15 for around £20m total they are must buys SBR otherwise like I have here demonstrated, they command huge wages!

Haha well I knew Stones would be good but have seen him on a few careers and as for Roberts I didn't expect SI to rate him so highly on this years game to be honest but again he has been on a few different career's I've seen now and performs very well!

Both players I believe will develop better with human interaction from the start although both have been incredible so far for me and statistically looking over their in game averages and stats. Stones has been harshly rated a 3 star player here, I think 4 is more suitable and even Roberts should be a 4 based upon averages and stats for me. Here you go Gendo

Impressive Start
http://i60.tinypic.com/iqk16q.jpg
So after our victory in the Community Shield we ventured into the season proper and after 8 games we have made quite an impressive start in all competitions with just the one defeat to Bayern away from home in the Champions League as we approach the start of November finishing October with a credible point away to rivals United.
http://i58.tinypic.com/w2gilt.jpg
http://i58.tinypic.com/bgr2ol.jpg

As we end October we do however have some bad news leaving us pretty thin on the striker front as Lukaku received a pretty bad injury. With just Aguero and a versatile Malcom as decent backup to the Argentine, Lukaku's injury will potentially hit us hard. Thankfully as highlighted throughout the fixtures so far into the season, we have had a vast quantity of contributors to goals which will hopefully see us through the 2-3 months we potentially face without the Belgian beast.
http://i59.tinypic.com/209642h.jpg

Funnily enough this far into the season it has been debutant Patrick Roberts who has outshine Raheem Sterling in terms of goals, actually keeping leading scorer Sergio Aguero on his toes but Sterling has been doing his bit recording 8 assists at this stage clearly identifying the differences in role he assumes as a winger in comparison to the inside forward role adapted by Roberts.

So far, so good and an incredibly quick adaptation by the individuals in the squad to really come across as a close-knit team.

They have been brilliant so far this season SBR, Balanta has been key in the heart of defence and is also now 3rd choice captain behind Company and Aguero having filled the role successfully at Shakhtar since my departure there. Tielimans has his issues at times with injuries but he's brilliant when fit, a vital asset. League table above in the United fixture after 8 games and will include one in the next update also! I think it's something I often forget to include being so fixated with Europe!

A great start to life at City chum!

Thanks Dan, was disappointed with the loss to Bayern but I think league results against 'big' sides have credited that it may have been due to being an away fixture, the home leg will tell me plenty about where we are at!

Will post another update after the Arsenal v Southampton game tonight after reaching January earlier this evening!

As we approached November in fantastic form the month was set to be one of greater ease than those that had followed it with arguably the biggest tie coming in the Champions League against Bayern. The month however did provide one unexpected result and sadly our first domestic defeat after a shoddy performance at White Hart Lane.
http://i61.tinypic.com/19y2wn.jpg

December or as I should refer to it 'Patrick Roberts Month' chucked a hectic schedule of 8 games in 26 days at us as the Premier League games came thick and fast. Roberts was at hand however to ensure he had a say in every game that he started for the club by marking them with a goal as the inside forward started to more than pay back his £27.5m pound fee. In the Champions League group stage I yet again took the top spot after bagging a 2-1 win over Bayern in November and a dominant win over Sparta Prague to take us through to the knockout stage.
http://i62.tinypic.com/kf1gk2.jpg

http://i62.tinypic.com/245j8yf.jpg

We also saw the next round draw in the Champions League which looks a favourable one for us against Monaco who have however won Ligue 1 in the past two seasons meaning we cannot quite expect to be in the quarter final stage just yet.
http://i61.tinypic.com/bgsow9.jpg

Entering January I'm sure some of you may be shocked to find out that I decided that we wouldn't be spending much during the transfer window even with the unbelievable news of a £90m budget. Roman Acre a regen youth signed for a small fee was brought in, a decent future prospect and also wondered Gustavo who had been tracked this year playing for Cruzeiro and notched a fantastic record in Brazil.

This transfer budget was probably due to a vast proportion of the clubs summer spending being spread out over future payments as explanation for the incredible gesture from the board! The club is set to make an unbelievable £292m according to the financial fair play assessment, also a probably explanation for the budget. This does of course mean I took the 'Title Challenge' option for club expectations based upon my confidence in our form so far into the season.
http://i59.tinypic.com/a07yol.jpg

http://i61.tinypic.com/qzgheg.jpg

Finally for this update, at the end of January the league table, still looking pretty good right now but United are right on us although with our game in hand we can slightly extend our lead to 4 points. I also thought I would include the top 6 in this look at the league table just to emphasise the run-away 5 that has developed after 22-24 games and additionally no sign of Spurs or Arsenal.
http://i62.tinypic.com/54t1k.jpg

I have a busy day of actual analysis and coaching tomorrow so my next update will likely come on Friday!

Was very happy to qualify top of the group stage and keep the record of having done so every season. Was annoyed that we had an aggregate loss to Bayern 4-3 in the group stages though SBR!

Indeed Johno if there's anything we've been sure of so far this season it's a goal! Having just checked the schedule for this season, only once have we not scored in a game and that was a 0-0 with Chelsea, 2nd game into the season!

Your Average February
http://i60.tinypic.com/iqk16q.jpg
A frustrating start to February as Youri Tielimans ended a training session early with a hip injury which would rule him out for 2 months after being sent to a specialist for recovery.
http://i59.tinypic.com/2m5ymwn.jpg

Here's a look at the first team squad as we entered February's fixtures just prior to Tielimans injury, an incredible debut season in Manchester for Patrick Roberts who has now notched as many goals as Sergio Aguero and all from his inside forward role on the wings!
http://i58.tinypic.com/1zn4dww.jpg

Champions League - 1st Knockout Stage
Our first game in the knockout stages, away to Monaco went very well as a good performance ensured a decisive 2-0 win and of course with those goals being away goals I am sure now a comfortable pathway to the quarter-finals of the competition.
http://i59.tinypic.com/2s7c3le.jpg

February in the end saw points dropped in the Premier League but not enough to make a huge difference in the league standings.

Champions League - 1st Knockout Stage - 2nd Leg
The second leg against Monaco was again as decisive as the first leg as we ran away with the tie comfortably in the end and drew a familiar face for the Quarter Final stage.
http://i57.tinypic.com/2bpgdf.jpg
http://i60.tinypic.com/vo7g29.jpg
It was also brilliant to see that Roma has secured a favourable draw in the competition and perhaps a fixture next round should we both prevail!

Manchester Derby
Towards the end of the month the sure to be game of the season arrived. The Manchester derby with both sides racing away in the Premier League title was sure to be of grave importance in deciding what side of Manchester would be celebrating this season with both sides tied on points after 30/31 games although City do have a game in hand still over their rivals in red.
http://i60.tinypic.com/2ueife8.jpg
As you can see we've been in incredible form in the run in to the derby and hopefully it will make the difference however of course with things so close in the league table and can only assume that United were also in as fine form going into the fixture.

In terms of excitement, it's fair to say that the game won't be remembered this season however late drama did ensure that it would have a substantial impact upon the destination of the Premier League trophy.
http://i60.tinypic.com/2emh2j8.jpg

With just 7 fixtures to go we now have a chance at taking a 6 point advantage over rivals United in our game in hand after a good month in March which was however marked with a defeat although one which could prove salvageable in the return fixture.

Champions League - Quarter Final - 1st Leg
http://i57.tinypic.com/2upbwcx.jpg

Yet another month of goals flying in and additionally plenty more for Patrick Roberts as the young Englishmen really starts to put a claim for the most valuable asset in the City squad. Romelu Lukaku also put plenty away this month as he re-found his form after an earlier injury set back in the season.

Title should be yours mate.Going be tough against Chelsea in the 2nd leg but keep a clean sheet and you should do it.

With our form this season being near on par with United I think with that win it could well be but 6/7 games left is still far too many points to call it just yet. I'm confident for the second leg having done well against Chelsea this season so far on top of their league performances being slightly off, we will see SBR!

No April Fools
http://i60.tinypic.com/iqk16q.jpg
April was set to prove a full month of goals again for City as we were set to play our second leg against Chelsea in the quarter final of the Champions League, an FA Cup semi final over Liverpool and 4 potentially decisive Premier League fixtures.

We started the month with a comfortable victory over Crystal Palace in a game where we were able to rest plenty of first team stars before the European fixture against Chelsea and still claim a 2-0 win to edge closer to the domestic title.

Champions League - Quarter Final - 2nd Leg

A very calming display in the home fixture against Chelsea and a goal mid-way through the first half from Aguero put us in front in the tie on away goals. Not a single key chance featured for Chelsea during the first half of highlights from the game and as the game approached the hour mark an interception from a cleared corner by Chelsea was quickly returned into the area as Alessio Romagnoli fired home to put the tie into a situation of progress for City or extra time on the basis of how the game has played out. Late on there were additional chances for City and the woodwork was struck twice as the game teetered out and City progressed to the next stage of the competition!
http://i60.tinypic.com/2rxa89v.jpg

Champions League - Semi Final Draw
http://i57.tinypic.com/33palfr.jpg
Sadly we were to avoid previous employers Roma and additionally PSG whom would likely prove to be easier opposition than Barcelona. This qualification saw both fixtures set for April dates and therefore part of this update.
What this also meant was that of the 4 teams remaining was that there was guaranteed to be a team in the final whom had never before tasted 'European Glory'

FA Cup - Semi Final
An unusual feature for this career with a domestic cup feature that wasn't a final! Our semi against Liverpool was to prove a dramatic one though and therefore had to be included!
http://i58.tinypic.com/29njiwz.jpg
That's right, 3 times we had to come from behind and give Liverpool one Puns aside it was one of the most intense games of the career so far and when Sterling pulled the game back in the 89th minute to force extra time I was elated and knew that then the tie was going to end well for us. Two mistakes from Liverpool in extra time were the difference.
What however was of course a bit of an issue is that we were to face Barcelona just 3 days later and had just faced a gruelling game against Liverpool for 120 minutes!

Champions League - Semi Final - 1st Leg
Thankfully we had managed to draw Barca away in the first leg, my much favoured routine for the knockout stage fixtures. With players in poor condition after the Liverpool fixture as always all I wanted to get from the tie was that away goal that could make all the difference. Thankfully we managed to get it late on in the game after a fairly Barca dominated fixture as was to be expected at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona created an unbelievable quantity of chances and if it wasn't for Rulli in this game I think it would have been nearer 4/5 proving the Argentine to be a fantastic signing this season nearly on just the basis of this performance.
The downside of the fixture was an injury to Balanta which would rule him out for the remainder of the season meaning Kompany who has been the backup to Balanta and Romagnoli this season would need to step up once more. In this game it was a blessing in disguise however as Kompany managed to get the sought after away goal with a late header from a corner.
http://i62.tinypic.com/2mwfd5c.jpg

Back in the Premier League we played Newcastle with a squad needing rest but still needing to pickup valuable points. Some how, star of the season Patrick Roberts was still pushing 95%+ fitness prior to the match and was the decisive factor in preventing what could have been only the second defeat domestically this season.

Champions League - Semi Final - 2nd Leg
With an away goal going into the second leg I was as ever optimistic of producing a good result in the game and with any luck an opportunity to claim 'European Glory' for Man City at the first time of asking in what has been an amazing debut season and also one of almost shock due to the extravagant transfer window at the start of the season.

Now this result. I don't need words. Just a dramatic spoiler!

Cheers gents Dan & Shedender I was literally in complete shock after the result against Barca, 4 goals from our CB Romagnoli really exemplified the complete demolition we inflicted. After that I'm pretty confident for the final believe it or not!

Glory Glory Man City?
http://i58.tinypic.com/vrdnww.jpg

After achieving one of the best results I may have ever had within FM we were awarded the prize of a Champions League final at the first time of asking and would face another side in search of 'European Glory' PSG after they also romped into the final with a 6-2 AGG win over my previous club Roma.
Our incredible annihilation of Barcelona also ensured that still the Champions League trophy has never been retained since it's former days as the European Cup.
http://i58.tinypic.com/2qxc685.jpg

Champions
Just days later we faced Reading followed by our Champions League quarter final opponents Chelsea however this time in the Premier League with an opportunity of wrapping up the league title and therefore retaining the title for Manchester City.
http://i59.tinypic.com/hukj6b.jpg

Serie A
Elsewhere, previous club Roma fell further off the pace of Juventus in Italy as Udinese leapfrogged the Giallorossi into second place in the league mainly off of the back of an incredible season from their young Argentine striker 'Ortega'. Perhaps to loss of Tielemans the reasoning behind Juve's failure to total over 90 points for the first time in 3 seasons.

Awards
A much deserved award for the incredible debut season Patrick Roberts recorded with fellow debutant Youri Tielemans also banging one of the prestigious awards for his performances over the season. Having missed 2/3 months in total due to injuries this really exemplified his commanding role in the heart of the Man City midfield. FA Cup Final
An important two weeks for Manchester City as the club had the opportunity to first of all complete a treble of trophies for the season with an FA Cup final against the only team to defeat them domestically this season, Tottenham
http://i58.tinypic.com/34fyzhv.jpg
Another game in the end which was decided by the devastating duo, Patrick Roberts and Raheem Sterling. City dominated the majority of the game with plenty of chances being created for first Romelu Lukaku and later in the game Sergio Aguero however it was the occasions where Roberts and Sterling went at it alone that really made a difference at Wembley.

A good break before the Champions League final meant that the squad could regain conditioning and fitness prior to the big night although it wasn't quite enough time for Balanta to make his return from injury for the game disappointingly.

Champions League Final
Our attempts for a second triumph of 'European Glory', this time with Manchester City came about's a lot sooner than it had done whilst at Shakhtar with this being the debut season in England with the club. Hopefully however this would be the first and only attempt required once again to achieve 'European Glory' just like it was for Shakhtar.
Our opponents PSG had demolished my previous club Roma in the semi-final as previously mentioned however had never gotten the better of my sides just yet and I was determined to ensure that this wouldn't be the first time they would do so.
http://i62.tinypic.com/acxz5e.jpg

A good run for the club into the final in what had been a brilliant season for City and maybe our only season. With the amount of players brought in and the majority of those being players with intentions of building a great side for the future it would be incredible to achieve 'European Glory' so quickly although a little worrying that we may achieve the feat so quickly leaving behind a very capable team of dominating Europe for seasons to come.

A very entertaining game and one which we dominated for the vast majority but alike to the FA Cup final were struggling to make the most of our chances and those that we did put away were again due to the fantastic Sterling and Roberts. A 2-2 draw in normal time was followed by yet more one-sided football as we forced PSG to retreat into their own half for the majority of extra time although as was the story in normal time, each time PSG countered you got the feeling they may well score!

Penalties
The game however was to go to penalties and by this stage with substitutions made we now had both John Stones and Sergio Aguero off the field as 2 of our best 5 penalty takers.

Man City - Lukaku - Pen 1
The Belgian beast stepped up and fired to the right sending the keeper the wrong way 1-0
PSG - Verratti - Pen 1
The Italian who once sent through Shakhtar in the competition over PSG with an O.G stepped up and hit the back of the net as Rulli came close to a save 1-1
Man City - Juan Bernat - Pen 2
Up stepped the commanding left back on his debut season. Down the middle and saved by Sirigu! 1-1
PSG - Hugo - Pen 2
Regen Hugo steps up and fires home, Rulli unlucky again guessing right. 1-2
Man City - Jonk - Pen 3
Young wonderkid Rick Jonk stepped up and tucked the penalty away calmly 2-2
PSG - Musa - Pen 3
Up stepped the Nigerian and he fired to the right once more for PSG and saved! Rulli guesses right once more and this time gets the save! 2-2
Man City - Cristante - Pen 4
The Italian midfield maestro on his debut season since signing from Barca calmly steps up. Down the middle and saved! Another save from Sirigu and now I feel the tie slipping into the hands of PSG. 2-2
PSG - Gabriel Barbosa - Pen 4
The Brazilian star whom once played under my management at Shakhtar now as a chance to put PSG in the driving seat. Fires to the left, Rulli guesses right again and it hits the woodwork!! Unbelievable scenes 2-2
Man City - Patrick Roberts - Pen 5
The young star of the season has a chance now to put the tie back in the hands of the Manchester outfit. Steps up, fires down the middle once more and scores!!! An opportunity now for him to become the hero if Rulli can additionally become the hero of the night and save PSG's 5th penalty 3-2
PSG - Muniain - Pen 5
The Spaniard must score to keep PSG in the game once more having been the man to take the game to extra time in the first place. Muniain v Rulli. He steps up, Rulli guesses right again for the 5th time and..... saved!!!!! Rulli has done it! Man City Win! 3-2

A Minute in Manchester

http://i58.tinypic.com/vrdnww.jpg

So with 'European Glory achieved in our debut season in Manchester and my risk tactic in completely rebuilding the squad paying off, it was my time to move onto the next challenge. As we entered June however there was not one side who had removed their manager except for Braga in Portugal who had just finished 6th in the league. Of course however, with my resignation there was bound to be a movement on the managers merry go round and as hinted in the previous post it looked to be a move not too far away from home!

http://i57.tinypic.com/bjhiqh.jpg

It looked that if the bookies were to be right that we might see a potential opportunity to return back to Roma after only a season away, however if you know your French you may have guessed with the hints recently and the bookies top 3 to take the reigns at City that our next move was to be to Monaco

http://i61.tinypic.com/1z56ukm.jpg

Welcome to the good life!

Inherited Squad
Finally here is the squad that I am inheriting which last season saw plenty of transfers but of course not quite to the level conducted by myself at City and I'll be honest, having looked over the squad I have a feeling there may be a similar level of coming's and going's this year once more even though we have only an initial budget of 16m to spend.

Congrats on vanquishing Barca and PSG to win the Champions League again! Still looking for my first but at least I've also beaten PSG and Barca this season - maybe an omen?

Bonne chance in Monaco!
