Sportclub Heerenveen is a Dutch football club currently playing in the Eredivisie, the top level of football in the Netherlands. The team plays their home games at the Abe Lenstra Stadion which opened in 1994 and holds 26,800 people. In 2011 SC Heerenveen will start to expand the stadium to 32,000 seats. The rivals of sc Heerenveen are SC Cambuur from Leeuwarden and FC Groningen from the city of Groningen. The distance between Heerenveen and Leeuwarden is only 30 kilometres; this is the first reason for the rivalry.
Anyway, let's get it started! I finished the pre-season,and the results were the following:
In total,we had 3 wins,2 draws and 3 loses. All in all,a decent pre-season.We've lost 2 games against much better teams:Udinese and AS Monaco and we only drew against Salsburg, but i think the friendlies are only a question of fitness and team cohesion.
In terms of transfers:
I think we had a very good transfer window activity.I managed to strenghten my attack by bringing in Vellios on loan.Believe me!He was an absolute beast in friendlies.I can't wait to see him playing in Eredivisie.
Also,Faris Haroun is a marvelous capture for our midfield department,as I felt that Heerenveen needed some depth there.
The last IN of the summer was Erik Sviatchenko.A bargain! He is a wonderful player for his age of 21 and I recommend you guys to pick him up.The only problem is his wage, about 19k per week. But I believe he worth that.
Obviously,I wouldn't had signed Erik if I wasn't to sell the former heart of our defence,Arnold Kruiswijk. The offer from Kuban was too good to turn down so I accepted it.
In terms of tactic I will use a 4-1-2-2-1 or a 4-3-3 if you want:
Anyway, that's it for now guys.I will play 4 or 5 games tonight and I will let you know how the things are going.I will make then updates in January and at the end of the season. This week will be the last of the 1st semester in Romania and then I will have a small break so stay tunned!

Season Objectives
Board:
My expectations:
I think my objectives are realistic looking at my team and comparing it with the rest of the teams. But you never know...
Eredivizie
As you can see we didn't had the best first 2 months. We concede a lot of goals and we drew so many mathes. This is VERY frustrating, especially when you lose the 3 points or even a match(against Ajax) because of a stupid penalty. But this is how football goes.
Here are some interesting matches:
The first match of our campaign was against Twente,a very strong side in Eredivizie.Unfortunately we've lost the game by 1-0.As you cand see it was a very tight game, but they were more lucky than us.
From the series of frustrating draws...Heracles! Just look at those chances we've missed. It is clear as crystal that we urgently need to make our chances pay or we could see ourselves entering into big troubles.
The game against Cambuur was the start of our massive decline.I think we had bad luck until now...but we need some changes fast!
Where this results leave us on the table?
Well...
Right...
Here..
As you can see,we are not in a comfortable position at the moment, but hopefully we could save our season!
The Dutch Cup
The Cup clearly remains our target for this season. If I win it this season,I would concentrate only on the legue next season, because this season we are fighting against relegation.
The game against Vitesse Reserves was an absolute screamer, with me shouting at my players from the front of the monitor. Finally, after 7 matches...A WIN!
Tactical changes
Obviously, after this start of the season,I put my head at work and I tried a little change that hopefully will bring us back to winning days!
I've applied this change of the DM for an AM before the Eredivizie match against RKC,and it almost worked. In the cup it worked, helping my team winning 4-2.Maybe this change is the glimmer that will change the course of our season, but the cup remains our main objective.
Contract renewal
Despite not being impressed by his stats at the start,I think Pelle van Anholt cand be a great midfielder for my team in the next season.I didn't risk loosing him for free, with bids from 3 teams being putted down.
Take over talks
It seems that the president of the club is in talks with someone that could take over my club.Hopefully this won't happen because I'm 90% sure that I will be fired If this happens,in accordance with the rules I've settled myself,I could only manage in the Netherlands, because I must conquer it before I resign and move to another country.
Well that's all for now guys! The next update will be at the end of the January transfer window.Wish me luck and leave your comments, suggestions and thoughts in the comment section!Take care of yourselves!
Angelo Ionescu
Hey,thanks mate!
Johno
I'm sure the board won't fire you
Angelo Ionescu
It's not strange that i'm doing well in the cup...it's because the opposition wasn't strong )
Hopefully they won't
Dan
Angelo Ionescu
Yep...the two of you inspired me...but first i'll try only Europe...the World is too big for me ...but hwo knows?!
Dan
I think its too big for me to, being 30odd seasons in and only completing five countries or so!
Angelo Ionescu
Yes it's very difficult..but the good think is that my situation at Heerenveen has change in good...can't wait to finish the january transfer window and share it with you
Angelo Ionescu
Angelo Ionescu
So,as you can see we had some activity in this transfer window. Our OUT's were only loan deals wich hopefully will improve my youngsters.
In terms of IN's I camed to the conclusion that we needed a back-up RW and a good, first team RB.
Alexandru Chipciu,my favourite from Steaua in real life was the perfect option available for me at that time.He is a very good, pacey player and can easily be in contention for even a starter post in my team. Now, Raijv van La Parra will have some work to do if he wants to remain my first RW choice.
Pavle Ninkov is clearly one class ahead of Stefano Marzo. He is the perfect signing for my team and hopefully he will make a good impact over my team.I like that he is very strong, he has good stamina and he is VERY pacey for a RB.That makes him a threat for the opposition especially because he is overlapping loads of time my RW,creating chances.
Our last signing,is a signing for future.Mikka Mujunen came at our club for basically nothing,so I think we did a great job signing him.He was obviously gone on loan for improving his stats and probably be my second choice GK in two seasons.
Eredivisie
As you all know,I said that our results have been improved a lot since the last update.Let's see how we manage to deal with our league fixtures.
As you can see we are doing way better than i expected due to not starting the season that good.I'm happy that we've started to score goals and win matches and I hope that soon our defence will be much stronger and we will stop conceding that amount of goals.Let's have a look now at some of the most interesting matches we had:
The match against Feyenoord was very tight with both teams creating chances.I think the result is fair , but I would've liked us to score earlier because that late equalizer form Faris Haroun almost gave me a mini heart attack!
The game against NAC Breda meant a lot for me and my team, because after so many matches without a win in Eredivisie we finally managed to win a game.We have clearly dominated Breda and the goals of Vellios and Sviatchenko proved that my summer signings were the right ones.
The game against Den Haag was a truly relief for me.We clearly deserved to win that match, considering the fact that we dominated it,ADO Den Haag being sufocated by our pressing.
The win against Roda JC,represent our best game of the season by now.We were the only side on the pitch and our spell of dominance continued from the first seconds of the game, until the end of it.
The game against Vitesse was an absolute thriller. After 34 minutes we were 4-0 up and the game seemed to be setled for a clear win. But,Vitesse proved why they are so high up on the league table and almost equalized us.Fortunately after the 4-2 goal,Vellios destroyed any hopes for Vitesse scoring the 5-2 goal.
So...where are we situated on the table?
We are lying down in 7th wich is quite a good status for us.The board is happy and I'm also glad to see that our situation is better now.We need to stay focused and try to push higher up in the Eredivisie.
The Financial Takeover
As you all guys know ,the president of the club decided to sell the club. And he actually managed to do that. After receiving that news, the new chairman informed me that my job security isn't quite high...but after starting winning in the league, the new boss was happy to keep me at the club. Also,he injected 11 million pounds in our transfer budget and started an upgrade to our facilities.I can say that I'm more than happy with the new chairman!
The Dutch Cup
I'm very happy with how the things are going in the Cup.We have been drawn against a Jupiler League team in the semi-finals so the chances of advancing into the final are high.Hopefully we will manage to reach the final and why not,win it!
Contract Renewals
I've decided to renew 2 players contract:Erik Sviatchenko,as a prize for his remarcable performances and Chiel Kramer for his wonderful skill of saving us every time
Team Ratings
These are the ratings of my players.I can say that Vellios is a marvelous piece of business , scoring 12 goals in 19 matches and being the best scorer of the Eredivisie. Also Cramer turned out to be my first choice GK insted of Nortdveldt, his performances being a key factor in our ascension as a club.Sviatchenko is the heart of our defece and I'm really happy to have signed him.Wolff Eikrem is also the best midfielder from my team, providing support for the attack and also contributing with some spectacular goals form free-kicks.Jukka Raitala and Marco Pappa are doing excellent together in the left flank also as van La Parra in the right flank.
That's all for now guys, hope you enjoyed this update!See you next time.Until the next update, leave your comments below. Thanks!
Johno
Good to see you finally got taken over
Dan
Angelo Ionescu
Yes..hopefully Chipciu will be good. And I really don't mind about that take over
Angelo Ionescu
Yes ...actually it went better then I was hoping
Alveio
Angelo Ionescu
Thanks for the nice words man!I will do my best!
Angelo Ionescu
So the first thing to announce is that the board decided to extend my contract for another 2 seasons. That's exactly what i wanted to be offered to me because I hope that in 2 seasons I will finish the Netherlands.
The Youth Intake
As you can see the first youth intake of this career wasn't the best of all. There weren't players with big potential, but I signed 2 of them:Tatan Suryana and Martijn Willems .In my opinion they are the only players who I think they cand grow and make their debuts at this club.
Other news...the upgrade of our training facilities is over and I hope that the impact will be massive hopefully.
Now let's move on to some real action!
Eredivisie
In my opinion we had a wonderful end of the season. There were some great moments, but I'm a little annoyed that we lost our form after the game against Feyenoord, missing the chance to win 3 times in a row.All in all I'm very happy with the situation we found ourselves at this moment.
Here are the most interesting matches of this end of the season:
The game against PSV showed me that my team represents a real threat for the opposition in attack but it's also vulnerable to counter attacks, conceding goals to easy.It was a game to remember for my winter signing Alex Chipciu who scored a brace, helping us to secure the win against mighty PSV.
The game against NEC Nijmegen represented the biggest win of this season. We clearly enjoyed that match and we showed a nice spell of dominance in literally demolishing our opponents.
The match against Ajax was a real derby. My team showed that there are no pushovers and came back to earn a draw after being leaded 3-1.
We came back to our winning days by defeating Utrecht 3-1 away from home and take our revenge.Again Chipciu putted his name on the scoreboard with Vellios completing him, scoring a brace.
Feyenoord reminded me that in football it doesn't matter how many scoring chances you have.It matters how you transform them into goals.Anyway I still believe that we deserved at least one point from that match.
The game against Den Haag was really frustrating. We showed a great spell of dominance but my inexperienced side was trapped into the complacency created by the goal scored by right back Pavle Ninkov.
Marco Pappa really enjoyed the game against Groningen scoring a hat-trick and showing why he is my first choice left winger.Sviatchenko is class at corners, scoring almost at every cross of Wollf Eikrem.
So...where did we finished the season?
An extraordinary 4th place at the end of the season!I'm proud of my team and of the way they've dealt with the bad start of the season. We qualified to Europa League,so I've reached my objective.I'm glad that I've set myself a realistic objective and I hope that the next season we will at least finished 3rd.
The Dutch Cup
The game against Helmond Sport was REALLY HARD! Or at least harder than I was expecting.Helmond are a good side even if they play in Jupiler League and they represented a good opposition for us.They deserved their place in the semifinals.
And now the final against...Ajax!
Unfortunately we've lost the final...because of a stupid mistake from my keeper...from all of the matches of this season...he decided to make a stupid mistake exactly in the most important match of the season.I think we deserved the win.I didn't met my objective:win the cup,but i'm in the mean time happy because we've at least reached the final and surpassed the objective set by the board:quarters.
Speaking of the board, they are really happy with me:
Player performances
Vellios proved to be my most inspired signing of this season. He managed to win the Eredivisie Golden Boot, scoring 20 goals in 33 matches with an average rating of 7.54
These are the ratings of my players at the end of the season. You can see that my attacking players have better ratings than my defensive players.Next season I will try to bring the level of my defence at the same of the midfield and attack.
The board also settled my budgets for the next season:
Really?No way!....
Anyway guys that's the end of my first season of the Pan-European Challenge.Hopefully next season I will manage to win the cup and be in contention for the league title. The next update will be at the end of the summer transfer window.Sorry for the long post.I hope you read it with pleasure.Take care!

Angelo Ionescu
I want to thank everyone who read my story until now and hopefully you will find it more and more interesting as I advance into this career.
Objectives
Cupemi-finals
Euro Cup:Group Stages
Cup:Win it at all costs
Euro Cup:Respectable performances
So,let's get it started. The second season is here!
First of all,I'm pleased to announce you that supporter spokesperson,Marco Rog ,announced me that the Fans' Player of the Year Award is going to:
It is a great achievement for our main striker.I'm proud because I made a very good and strong, inspired signing and so our fans do.
Interview with Vellios
Journalist:First of all,Apostolos, congratulations for the award. How does it feel do be the favorite of the fans?
Vellios:It is an honor for me to come here and in just one season to reach the heart of this team fans.I'm very proud of myself but in the mean time I'm looking to improve as much as I can.
Journalist:There has been some rumors that head coach Angelo Ionescu wants to loan you for yet another season.Would you accept this move?
Vellios:Absolutely yes!Ionescu is one of the nicest people of soccer and I'm confident that the Everton board will also agree with the move.
Journalist:What is your expectations for the next season?
Vellios:I'm looking to improve my game,be even more dangerous in front of the goal and make the fans happy again.I'm looking to qualify for the Champions League and to win the cup this season
Journalist:Thank you for accepting this interview and good luck!
VelliosIt was my plasure! Thanks a lot!
I'm glad to announce you that I've managed to extend Vellios' loan for one more season because I haven't enough funds to buy him.Hopefully he will continue to improve and score even more.
The Pre-Season Transfers
We had some activity in this transfer window. My main task was to find a back up striker ,following Finnbogasson sale(he wasn't one of my favorites).I think I did a great job receiving that much for Finnbogasson ,so Fulham will benefice of his services. So with + 3,2 million in the bank the search began and after a month I've decided to sign Michy Batshuayi from belgian club Standard. He is really cheap for his quality, only 2,4 million paid and I think he can be a major lift for our team.
Center back,Zomer leaved us for free, wich kinda upset me,but I immediately found a cheap replacement for him, maybe a contender for a spot in the first 11.His name is Wallid Atta and he came for just 65k from swedish team Helsingborg.
Joey van den Berg requested his transfer and that didn't upset me because he was not in my plans for this season so I've sold him for 230k to Heracles.I Haven't need to sign any left back replacement for him because youngster Fahd Aktaou is now ready to some first team action. And believe me,Raitala will have to impress me if he wants to be my main left back choice.
Also Mark Uth was promoted to the first team as my third choice striker Fazli left our club.
The other 3 players signed are too young for now and they will seat on the youth squad for this season.
Pre-Season Friendlies
It was a truly crazy pre-season.I was shocked wen we lost 6-0 against french side Stade Rennais,a team similar to our team. The next friendly was against german side Aarau and again we've lost 2-3.But after that ,the lads did a great job winning 8-0 against portuguese side Naval, youngster midfielder Heerkes proving that he is ready for a place in the first team, scoring a hat-trick.The last friendly was against unknown hungarian team Bekescsaba,a match dominated by my team, the final score being 4-1.
2 wins and 2 defeats and a very strange pre-season who left me unsure about who will figure in my main first 11.Also 10 goals conceded ,wich is not good and 14 scored wich proves again that my attack works fine.
Eredivisie
I managed to play until the end of the transfer window and the results are as following:
A very good start of the season,a thing wich proves that our bad start of the pre-season was caused by the vacation.3 wins and 2 draws that are giving me confidence that we can achieve something this season.
Groningen proved us that having a good defense can bring in results against a team that dominates the match.I think we could have won that match but I'm happy even with a 1-1 draw away from home.
Yes!Finally a win against champions Ajax and we've taken our revenge for that Dutch Cup final lost last season.A very tight match ,with Ajax being 1-0 up at half-time ,but my aggressive pep talk worked fine and we've manage to score 2 goals by youngster Aktaou and by Pappa in the '89 minute.
The game against Vitesse was a simple formality,3-1 as you can see, nothing special there.
A draw against PSV.And I would take it all day long because they had dominated the match. We could won it,but at the end of a counter-attack,Bakkali scored against Kramer.
Before the game against newly promoted De Graafschap I was thinking that we will kick them out of the stadium. But now I can say that they deserve to be in Eredivisie. They were 3-1 up at half-time but agains the pep-talk worked and we won 5-3 in the end.
So how does the table looks?
We sit in a comfortable 3rd place after 5 matches. But look at Feyenoord! They're on fire, winning all of their matches.Hopefully my team will do the same thing soon
Europa League
Following last season 4th place,we've managed to qualify for the Europa League play-off.We had to play against Young Boys from Switzerland.
In the first leg I've decided to rest some important players because we had to play PSV next, and I can say I'm happy with haow the youngsters did, earning a 2-2 draw away from home.
The second leg we played at home and we've managed to smash Young Boys 4-1,Vellios finally scoring some goals.Hopefully with this hat-trick he will start scoring more.
So we are qualified, matching the board wish of reaching the group stages. How does our group looks like?
We've been handed a tough group with the likes of Bordeaux and Sevilla representing a top opposition. But the worst thing is...I have to play against the team I support,Steaua. It will be a very emotional match for me.
That being said I now present you my squad for the 2014-2015 season:
So that's it for now.The next update will be probably in November.See you!
Please leave your thoughts and comments below

Hey guys and welcome to another update of my European venture.Heereveen, season 2.I've played until 1st of December and I think it's time to make an update before the January Transfer Window one.So let's start.
Eredivisie
As you can see we had a very good first part of the season until now.The only mistakes we made were the defeats against Zwolle and RKC Waalwijk both of them surprising me.We started good, winning against newly promoted Volendam 4-0,Vellios scoring a hat-trick.
The game against Utrecht was a shock for me because of the scoreline. We were 3-0 up at half-time,but Utrecht managed to score 2 goals ,forcing me to change the mentality to counter-attack...and it worked very well as you can see.The final score was 6-2
We dominated the game against Zwolle but somehow they've managed to get away with 3 points leaving us gutted.
The game against Roda was really har.One of the hardest I've had until now in this save.A 4-3 that leaved me speechless,as center back Atta scored in the last few minutes bringing us the victory.
What can I say about this game. You can say that the score speaks for himself but if you look at the statistics you can clearly see that the score is totally unfair.
We came back to our winning days in the game against Ado Den Haag.A really easy one,Den Haag didn't even had a single shot on target in that match.A nice and well deserved victory.Oh...and a clean sheet
Nothing much to say about the AZ game.We smashed them 3-0 and that's enough for me.
Well well well...my boogie team I can say...Cambuur.But not this time anymore.A 3-0 win ,the third in a row.Can we stop scoring?
And the game against Go Ahead Eagles,a pretty easy one.A 4-1 victory ,Wolff Eikrem scoring an absolute golazzo as always.
Where are we on the table?
We are second just behind Ajax and we have a game in hand. This season is going nice and hopefully we can push and try to make a surprise winning it.
The Dutch Cup
Two matches played in the cup until now.My objective is to win it so I line up the best players I have at my disposal in every match.
Sheveningen were totally outclassed by the force of my team.In the mean time the 8-1 meant the biggest ever win for our club.
A good victory over FC Oss,but how on earth did we concede again?!I mean we've conceded from two lower division clubs. That's not good enough from my defense.
Europa League
We are doing surprisingly well in the Europa League. We've managed to win 3 matches against Bordeaux,Sevilla and Steaua.Steaua are doing way better than I was expecting and as you can see they managed to smash us 4-1.They sit in 1st.We are second followed by Bordeaux and Sevilla who has 0 points. The last game will be against Sevilla and a draw will be enough for us to qualify.
Team ratings
This are the ratings of my players.Pretty good ones.I'm happy that my defense is getting stronger and that my youth players are fitting in nicely with the other players.
Anyway that's it for now guys. The next update will be at the end of January.Leave your comments below.Take care!
