After our disappointing result against City in the League Cup, we played just two games in March, and won both 2-1 against sides below us in the table. Six vital points, anything less would've been disappointing.

Opened some breathing room over Chelsea and Liverpool, and keeping tabs on Arsenal, City and Tottenham above us... could the unthinkable happen and we get into the top four?

Bit of a busier month, and we basically blew two big games, losing at Manchester City and Tottenham 3-0. A win in either would've really given us belief for a top four finish, but it wasn't to be.

Wins against Reading, Palace and Newcastle were all vital in a different way, as the league table shows...

Five points ahead of Chelsea now with three games to go, and three points back on Arsenal and Tottenham. City are too far away now realistically, but we face Liverpool, Chelsea and Leicester in our final three games so this could be tough. Fifth looks secure though!

Three games to push for the Champions League, and we realistically needed three wins. In the end, we fell at the first hurdle, losing 5-3 at home to Liverpool. It was a disappointing result, with the Scousers below us in the table, but we bounced back with a 1-0 win over Chelsea. Our final game of the season, away at local rivals Leicester City, and we struggled to a draw.

In the end, a very disappointing end to the season, but a successful one none the less.

So wins against Liverpool and Leicester would've still seen us short of the Champions League in the end, but we've secured a Europa League place for the new season... a great success and I hope that we can build on this.

For £2.2m, we signed the player who would outscore Sergio Aguero and Carlos Fierro to win the golden boot in the Premiership. Delighted with this, and for him!

After finishing seventh this season, Chelsea sacked Jurgen Klopp as manager, and I applied to see how my career was developing. I wasn't even listed as one of the top three for the job, but was offered it.

After much deliberation, I rejected the job, and continued with Coventry City. I am contracted at the club until the end of the forthcoming season, so let's see where the next 12 months takes me.

bmg033 - it was a brave call to make, but I am sure I would've regretted leaving Coventry at this stage. The move didn't feel right at the moment, but I will constantly question it as Chelsea are so strong.

Johno - thanks for continuing to follow! I was surprised to see it offered it to be honest, probably as surprised as they were to me turning it down!

Dan - Looking forward to our visit to the Europa League, will be amazing to see how we get on!

Thanks for reading and following guys!

July 2017

Transfers

Quick update on my transfers so far. My target was to strengthen our attacking line, and add a defender or two to the squad.

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/July%20Transfers/FedericoBonazzoli_OverviewProfile_zps6d2111f5.png

Federico Bonazzoli signs on loan from Inter, and I think he'll be a good addition to our squad. He was loaned to the Championship next season (I think) and did really well there, so it will be interesting to see if he can step it up to the Premiership.

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/July%20Transfers/KieranBraithwaite_OverviewProfile_zpse60279ef.png

Kieran Braithwaite joins us from Fulham for £3m, and was originally looking likely to arrive in January but we missed the deadline. At 18 years old, he looks a fantastic prospect, and I will be trying to loan him out this season to see if he can get some game time.

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/July%20Transfers/HarrisonReed_OverviewProfile_zpse13786d3.png

Harrison Reed has been signed from Southampton after he was transfer listed, and we picked him up for £400k. Again, not sure if he will make an immediate push for the first team, but I think he is a good talent, and certainly one for the future.

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/July%20Transfers/RenzoGiunti_OverviewProfile_zps719c6ce3.png

Signed on a Bosman from Roma, Giunti will become our first choice goalkeeper this season. Foderingham's contract expires at the end of the season, so this was a move I wanted to try and resolve, and it's worked out really well for us as I believe he will become an excellent key player for us.

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/July%20Transfers/GerardDeulofeu_OverviewProfile_zps01305055.png

Probably the biggest move of the transfer window for us, and one we managed to get on a free transfer after he left Barcelona. Gerard Deulofeu is a wonderful talent, and I am shocked he decided to sign for us. We nearly had him on loan last season but he rejected the offer, but I hope he will earn his massive wages well for us. If not, I am sure we will be able to make a healthy profit on him!

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/July%20Transfers/BrittAssombalonga_OverviewProfile_zpsb614fdd6.png

We broke our transfer record for Britt Assombalonga, paying £14m for his services. I hope that this will be repaid, but at just 24 years old he should be a good acquisition for us. It should allow Henan to move out on loan, and hopefully he can take us to the next level.

We let a few players go during the month, but nobody of note. Three younger players left on free transfers as they hadn't progressed as I'd have hoped, and Ryan Mason or Jesse Lingard could leave as both are complaining about lack of first team football/too much competition.

We've got a couple of deals lined up for defenders, but we can only afford one, so it will be a tough decision to make. I've also approached Manchester City and Chelsea about loaning Mangala and Cahill.

Thanks Alveio, appreciate the follow and comment! It's amazing that we're heading into Europe, and I am glad with the transfer dealings we've done so far. Will be a tough season, but I hope we can have another good one.

August 2017

Transfers In

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/August/GaryCahill_OverviewProfile_zps36032fdb.png

A season long loan was agreed with Chelsea to bring Gary Cahill in, and he adds a lot of experience to the squad. Not sure why he is constantly available at Chelsea, as he still looks to have the ability to compete in the Premier League, but their loss is hopefully our gain.

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/August/EliaquimMangala_OverviewProfile_zpsc00ce98e.png

Eli Mangala is another player who I was surprised was available for loan, but again I am delighted to bring him in. Can cover at left back if needed, but I hope he and Cahill will push Danny Wilson for starting places at centre back.

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/August/OumarDiakhite_OverviewProfile_zps60859ad4.png

Oumar Diakhite was signed on free transfer after being spotted by one of my scouts. He looks a decent acquisition and fills the requirements of a free transfer defender on less than 30k per week.

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/August/LucaMarrone_OverviewProfile_zpsac44783c.png

Luca Marrone arrives on loan from Juventus and will play a big role as backup in a number of positions. He's versatile, and that's exactly what was required of any additions to ensure we don't lose our way when injuries start piling up.

Transfers Out

Chris Eagles, Gary Mackay-Steven and Ryan Mendes both left the club on mutual terminations, whilst Gary Madine departed to League Two for a small cash deal. Other than that, there were no major departures during the window. Ryan Mason and Jesse Lingard both still want to leave, but no bids were received for either.

We rejected a £7.5m bid from Newcastle for Charlison Benschop, with his £10m minimum fee release clause now not feeling so high. We've got no room to re-negotiate his contract, so we might have to grin and bear it for now.

Just two games in August, as we crushed Norwich City 4-0 in the opening game of the season. Was great to see Assombalonga open his account on his debut, but Demarai Gray was the stand out player in the game.

We followed up with a 2-0 win away at Reading, with Benschop and Lingard both scoring. As the transfer window closed, Lingard stated he was happy to remain at the club which is great news.

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/August/EnglishPremierDivision_OverviewStages_zps2392faa6.png

Top of the league after two games, amazing! Although like every season Coventry had in the Premiership, we started well and always petered out. We play Chelsea and Manchester United in September, so we'll have a bit more of a realistic picture by then.

Young Player of the Month

http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i477/willschoolar/Coventry%20FM15/2017-18/August/Inbox_Inbox_zps91ce993e.png

Demarai Gray has been outstanding in the first two games this season, and he's realising his potential and making the AML role his own. Hopefully he can continue this throughout the season!

New Contract

With my contract expiring at the end of the 2017/18 season, the board have offered me a new contract and I have accepted it. I am now contracted until the end of the 2019/20 season.

Coming next... September, the Europa League group stages draw and the Confederations Cup with Holland!

Approaching the end of September, finished my final game of the month, clicked Save and got an error... went back in to load the game and this happened:
