Wwell, maybe not nothing .. he's still a professional footballer, and more talented than most of us .. nearly all of us .. and he's still earning a lot of money, more than most of us .. probably all of us ..

.. the bastard. He has nothing up in footballing terms, and is still better off.

The fact that he's American has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of so called 'wonderkids' who get a lot of attention because they play at an extremely high level at a young age. Some of them make it, most of them don't.

Yeah, someone who completely dominates the U17 World Cup as a 14-year-old would get a lot of attention regardless of his nationality. Being American added to his fame, but Adu would have become famous in football circles even if he was from Tajikistan or the Marshall Islands.

He was hardly the first wonderkid either, football history is filled with them from successes like Pelé and George Best to failures like Nii Lamptey.
