Why has he left?

He's had a pretty turbulent relationship with Dan Harmen tbf, and his character has got worse.

I don't think he really enjoyed making it.

By most accounts he was hated by the cast too.

But Harmens not there anymore so that cant be reason. If other points you stated are the reason fair enough. I have always found his character hit and miss really varying from episodes. Some episodes I felt he was the funniest person some you could tell they dident want him and just gave him crap.

Just hope Shirley leaves now. Never really liked her character.

Chevy hated the show and how his character was developing. He even went on a full blown rant the last day after having to make another racist joke. He said something along the lines of "Next you'll be telling me to call Yvette or Donald a nigger".

His character in the 1st season was probably the best in the show. He was a dick but had a good side, teaching Shirley to present, letting Troy move in, trying to be friends with Jeff etc.

I wouldn't say I disliked it...but...meh....Not up to it's usual standards....I guess this is how shows die.

I fear that by the end of this season I won't be sad to hear it is not renewed....something I couldn't imagine feeling a year or two ago.

This has made me worried about Arrested Development's return in March now....don't want to see my favourite shows wither and die in front of my eyes... :s

They seem to be pushing the Dean's campness too much, and I didn't like the Abed TV shite. Troy and Britta are annoying and Annie seems to have changed.

Hopefully it's just a blip.

In saying that, I hated what the previous 'regime' did to the characters of Pierce and Chang so not holding out much hope

I think the point of Abed TV was just to mess with fans who were scared that the whole show would change too much.

The only thing that really annoyed me about the whole episode was the fucking hashtags they flashed at the bottom of the screen.

I didn't really like the first episode. - But I thought it was a bad episode of Community rather than be an episode of a bad new show. Reviews in America seemed to be positive. Ratings were also positive.

It was in the continuity of Season 3 : overdone. The whole thing made no sense on a character level

And the Chang comeback cliffhanger for the third straight season ? C'mon;

It was like watching a Community fan fiction played out by the cast and crew of Community.

Funny you say that, it was pretty much word for word exactly like a post someone made on the Community sub-reddit.

Just seems to forced and contrived so far this season. It's like the network just said "Right, the fans like the Dean being camp and Troy being childish so we'll push that as much as possible".

Also disappointed by the severe lack of Pierce so far, reduced to just bit-parts

Community seasons 1-3 have been placed on a spectacularly tall pedal stool.

Practically all the criticism I've seen of season 4, could easily be applied to earlier seasons. The worst criticism is Community's attempts to be clever by having a Halloween episode on Valentine's Day.

Season 3 was pretty shite anyway tbh. I really like 1, and 2 has some great moments, but it's definitely been downhill from there.

Also, the Halloween episode on Valentine's Day wasn't exactly their fault, seeing as the network delayed the start of the series from October to February.

This. I think there might even be a Christmas episode as well.

Yeah, that was my point, about it being the 'worst' criticism, as in it doesn't make sense, rather than the most stinging criticism.

Anyway when Shirley said people like Inspector Spacetime because it's 'smart' I thought it was laying it on a bit thick, but then I think it was referring to Dan Harmon era, and was referring to Season 4 as the 'American version', i.e suggesting that Community was always going to be hated by sneered at as a weak remake without the 'soul' of true Community, and the guys who did Just Shoot Me, just don't get 'it'.

Yep

They called it too.
