Consectatio Excellentiae - In pursuit of excellence.
Sunderland, where did it all go wrong? Before i can start with my plans i need to perform a post mortem first so that anyone who doesn't support the club can really understand the deep deep trouble we are in. So Sunderland have been in the premier league for 8 years in a row now which may seem like a given to most clubs but for us its a great achievement, for the best part of the last 20 years we have been extremely inconsistent and a bit of a yoyo club if you will, but that isn't good enough, being happy with receiving a participation medal isn't quite good enough for me, the fans, the city and the players. For too many years we have just survived and apart from a few wins against the equally as poor and un ambitious Newcastle our seasons have been boring and dreary and horrible to watch. For anyone who doesn't know Sunderland is a huge footballing city, the people live for the match at the weekend, they live and die by there club, it is the centre of the community, and you don't see many kids walking around with Man United,Liverpool, Chelsea tops in Sunderland it just doesn't happen, so how can a city with a now established premier league club, with a 49,000 Capacity Stadium and a billionaire chairman not produce any homegrown talent on a consistent basis or a team worth watching, God (Niall Quinn) made a great statement last week when he said if the club had a team as good as the fans they'd be a top side. Which i believe in!! So to summarise we have a huge stadium, a rich chairman, loyal fans and a huge city to harbour some homegrown talent and yet bar Jordan Henderson and Jack colback we haven't produced any top talent in 20 years. This is pivotal to what i want to achieve with this career mode. I want to firstly stabilise the club with a philosophy and an identity, i want to improve the youth system and i want more than anything to win something!!! Im going to try and copy what Southampton have done with the great youth recruitment and training alongside a clear philosophy and great signings. This will hopefully bring us trophies again and re-establish as an actual force in English football and the world.

Ok so first of all you all to be able to explain this post you need to see the below pictures before i even attempt to explain anything.
Now i as a fan have heard no news of us being in this much debt and owing this much money, I'm aware our chairman has money and we have been investing and have a pretty sizeable sponsorship deal so i don't know if someone in FM has some insider information or if the club are really good at not letting anything out but in a summary its a kick in the teeth, a huge kick.
So below is a projection of our finances over the next few seasons, as you can see our transfer budget is increasing by around 3 million a season now the thing here is this is all in my hands and I'm going to have to use my best FM skills to really succeed, I'm going to have to over achieve each season to make as much money as possible from prize money etc, then I'm going to have to work hard and rely on really good free transfers, the money i can invest has to be done wisely on either good players on the cheap or high potential players and i don't think i can afford to spread payments out which will kill me.
And lastly this is how my squad looks, I'm having an absolute horrible time with injuries at the minute
Also for anyone concerned I'm playing on the 15.3 update, no skins, no badges, no faces at the minute, new laptop so I'm being nice to it for a while

Season 1, so first of all let me apologise for the delay, i started the career got engrossed played through 2 seasons, done a full update then deleted the update got pissed off and closed the tab... then decided to get rid of my laptop as it was as useful as Jozy Altidore, although acting like a typical man i didn't think to back my saves up and just went argue new shiny laptop and pushed forward full steam ahead so this is my second and so far less successful attempt at the save but nonetheless lets get into this bad boy
So Transfers - first season we signed and sold absolutely no one we had 0 budget for transfers and couldn't ship any players out and with us only retaining 10% of transfer revenue what really was the point unless someone wanted to buy fletcher for 100 million giving me 10 to spend, but he's not that good even if he believes he is himself.
Cup performances - we were shocking, i was really focused on staying up from day one so the cups didn't matter to be however we went out in the earliest round of each competition which was disgusting.
The League,
believe it or not we were sitting in 8th for majority of the league and our form was just so inconsistent, we went from Bramble to Beckenbauer on a match to match basis, we played narrow, wide, 3 at the back, 5 at the back, 1 upfront, 2 upfront, 3 upfront, we tried long balls, playing it short. i really believe with a poor team which we are you can't rely on a master tactic and just tweak it you really need to base it on ok this is what i have and base tactics around the team, i won't have a philosophy for another few years, of course i want to play swift attacking passing football, but we won't be there for a while.
Standout players, Wickham and defoe, there form pushed me to try and play with 2 upfront, Wickham really surprised me, the last few games and years he hasn't been great since leaving ipswich, now don't get me wrong he wasn't the wondered he was but his stats are immense and the right team and players he could really do well, he scored 13 and assisted 7 in 22 starts which was incredible.
Defoe was his usual self grabbing himself 19 goals in the league, a great performance but his stats are dwindling with his age now and will play less and less.
And Finally the moment we've all been waiting for!!! SOME FUCKING TRANSFERS!!!!!!
OH LORD WE GOT STUCK IN
So firstly theres Kondogbia, this man is a beast who is great on the ball and at 2.4 million i think i have a steal unless somethings happened to make him muck on the game.
Then theres Coates which none else will care about but for me he was a rock and i had to have him back
Aguirre is another one I'm really excited about my scouts found him and i haven't been on forums this year much so i don't know if he is actually good or I've paid for promise and no deliverance.
Then theres the free transfers which i think each one was a great signing, Lealli and Berisha are the most exciting for me both great talents with great promise, Wellington silva again a great player and Micah Richards, strength, speed, ability and experience.
