I'm sorry, but any people out there who believe the match engine or the game is meant to be some sort of tactical challenge to tweak and change in order to succeed is sadly, very mistaken.

This game is a fucking joke.
And I don't say that light heartedly.
I've played every FM released and none have been as horrifically, be it sickeningly, as bad as this.

I WANTED to believe all of the speculation about how SI have decided to try and delve deep into the realisms of football and replicate it to our game so the 'true' football managers can put their wit to best use.
But unfortunately, this just isn't true.
This last episode is the straw that broke the camels back, I felt I needed to voice it to this forum, so others can participate on opinion as strong as mine.

I'm playing as Shakhtar in season 2014/15, and in the first knockout round against a weak Spartak Moscow.
After winning comfortably 4-2 in the first leg, I play the second leg a week later highly confident of course.
But just to be sure, I set up quite conservative, making sure we weren't going gung ho for the win, nothing too special, just making sure my forward players were tracking fullbacks, midfield man markers etc.
So I've edited my player instructions, in line with what 'real' teams would could potentially be a tricky game.
So you can see what happened yes?

They scored a penalty on half time to make it 3-4 on agg at half time.
I had loads of chances through on goal, but to no avail. Of course the game wasn't going to let me score.
BUT somehow we managed to get a goal on 81 mins, surely the game was home and hosed with me grabbing an equaliser making it 3-5?

Spartak then proceed to score the 2 goals they need 4 minutes after mine.
Despite the fact I was all over them all game.

This game is a joke.
Point in case.

I don't think one result makes a shit game... The fact that you've got as far as you have means it's playable... Freak results will happen in real life... Remember Man U Vs Bayern, Champs league final - 2 goals in injury time!?

It can happen.

However, I agree that the Match Engine / Tactical side of things need work. I wouldn't call the game a joke though...

I'm guessing you'd call the game of Football a joke after the Swedish response to going 4-0 down to Germany then? If anything that proves it is more realistic by the fact it adds that unpredictability we all love and hate about football, but it doesn't happen every time, many times I have seen out 3-0 wins etc very easily, yet I've had a 2-0 at 87 end up 4-2 in a cup game, and wasn't happy, but didn't slam the game for it....

Don't take your poor tactics out on SI. You should have went out to pump Spartak, get the game won first, always.

Ay crazy games happen all the time, you forget how many matches you get through in FM in a week. I just seems like there's more strange occurrences in FM as in a week you can see 100+ matches and in real life you'll only see 10.

What's also a joke, is why you added this to the FM Guides section

Just man up and accept the defeat. I think everyone here has been on the end of a devastating result at some point.

One loss makes it a shit game? I'm sure worse has happened IRL.

Very few people would write something when you won like Spartak, people always see the bad things...its in their nature.

Never lost before? Never been beaten by an underdog? Like York for real knocking Man Utd out all those season ago? It happens, if you suck at the game, doesn't mean the game sucks dude.

One thing I hate with this game is that I get 2 to 3 players injured every game. So many injuries.. I'm not alone at the swedish forum.

Now my question is: Any1 else who had notice this?

Sry for bad english.. :p

yeah, injuries are causing me a problem.
Freak result for me, 2-0 with 6 minutes to play, conceded a penalty, 2-1,

5 mins to go, keeper takes a knock, off he comes, 16yo sub keepers first job, defend a corner, (oppositions goals from corners season to date=14) 2-2.

3 mins to go, they change formation to 4-2-4. i cant change my tactics quick enough to defend against the 4 forwards, blistering goal from outside the penalty area. 2-3.

my formation changed when we needed to kick off. injury time, whoops, one on one with my keeper, player goes down, keeper (6mins of first team action) sent off. resulting penalty 2-4.

I couldnt help but blast the ref for the first penalty. result: 2 game touchline ban...... still think the ref robbed us though.

Moral of story. only one game, still got promoted first season, second season sat on the bottom of the table up until end of october. ended the season with playoff place.(knocked out in semi) third season got sacked after 9 games and only 5pts. It doesnt matter about the results, Exeter City had enough of me....Now in charge of Wrexham, ended the season relegated..... It really is harder then previous games, and much more challenging and satisfying when small clubs get the result against the bigger and better clubs. No cheats or editors, did not take over another club to buy my crap players for big money etc, just blood sweat and tears.

This game is challenging. and i am enjoying the crap out of it. I'm not a good manager and i don't claim to be.

In all honesty, I've seen more freak scores this year than in the previous versions but I think it makes the game even more exciting! It would get boring quite quickly if everything went as it "should"
