Thought Karanka got it totally wrong. Looked like they had no solution to a massed defence. Bamford looked totally isoldated, Adomah, Tomlin and Vossen in no mans land, no width and Clayton and Leadbitter far too deep.

In other news, we all knew it was likely, McClaren's gone from Derby.

I absolutely agree. It amazed me that no one mentioned it in commentary beyond the bit about Bamford being isolated. The only time he got real support was when Vossen followed him in and cracked that one off the bar, and even then it was more down to Bassong being daft and not looking where he was clearing it rather than any real skill from Middlesbrough.
Still, I suspect Middlesbrough will be back stronger next season, once again boring the life out of the opposition with their effective game management. You have to admit, it gets results, but it's dull to watch.
Congratulations to Norwich, who were far better on the day and had a more enterprising team in general over the course of the season.

"The last 24 hours sum up all that is wrong in the world of football.
FIFA is finally exposed as the cesspit of corruption that everyone knew it to be. Decisions (allegedly) made for financial gain rather than the good of the game.
At our insignificant end of the game, further illustration of how money has been sucked out of the game.
We play in a well attended Wembley final but more money goes to the ticket agent than the clubs involved.
Due to factors like this, a relatively well supported club like ours lacks the financial certainty to contract players for more than a year so that every season becomes a perilous rebuilding exercise rather than one of gradual improvement.
As a result, players are unable to commit themselves to a local area and a player of the season is close to leaving because it's too difficult to get to work.
A promising young player moves up two leagues and the club gets no reward for their development over several years. Pre Bosman, we might have got a fee for Pearson - maybe £100k which would have at least funded Magnay's journey to work and more. Transfer fees were a reasonably efficient way of passing money down the pyramid. Now clubs are caught in a spiral where they can't risk long contracts but as a result they don't get transfer fees. Lose lose for the small clubs.
I remain optimistic that PH can rebuild and hopefully we still keep a core of players but it's hard not to get down hearted."
If anyone's interested it looks like our centre half Shaun Pearson is off to Barnsley and our right back Carl Magnay probably to York. Two of our best players, and more could follow.

I was just logging on here, for the first time in ages to ask you about this. What's he like? Please don't tell me he's slow.
I'm all for signing players from the lower leagues, but we already signed a non-league central defender this week. Marc Roberts from Halifax.

But in all seriousness he's a very good defender, but I'm unsure whether he would make the grade in league one. He's not much of a ball player, put it that way.
Anyway, I've heard since this morning that he may infact not be signing for Barnsley but may be going elsewhere. Should probably mention his chronic knee and back injuries too... So you may as well leave him with us
That Roberts you've signed from the shaymen by the way is an awful awful player! He's got a long throw but other than that he just hoofs it everywhere. I've seen him play multiple times. Only 24 so may improve....

That said, I also said before his move to Millwall that Lee Gregory wouldn't cut it above League Two. 9 goals last season in the Championship says otherwise!

No truth in the deal, apparently.
Roberts comes highly rated from Halifax fans. Roberts himself has even admitted his distribution isn't his strong point but he's only 24. He can improve.

95% of those guys mentioned are either coaches without a pedigree in management (Wotton, Coughlan, McCarthy) or dinosaur manager hasbeens or managers who miserably failed elsewhere (Blackwell, Colin Wanker, Clark, Hockaday). Hope you don't get any of these

Maybe someone else then. I'd love an ambitious up-and-coming manager, away from the usual suspects; but I'm wary of giving someone their first time in management, as selfish as that sounds.

The best captain I've seen at Huddersfield Town (with the possible exception of Chris Lucketti first time around). Slow, yes. Prone to flying in to last-ditch blocks, yes. But the best leader you'll see. He's 33 now and probably 2 years past his best, but it should be remembered he's played over 100 games in the Championship in the last 3 years and I expected to see him sign for a top side in that division as part of a concerted promotion push. You'll never see a more passionate football man. Still got so much love for Peter Clarke despite his shortcomings.

Sounds too good. Not someone for the fancy cup ties on Skysports but someone for the dirty away days at Oldham, Rochdale or Walsall on a Tuesday night. What we need to be fair
