So we were all but safe now this season but with us nine points from the relegation zone with three games to go it wasn't dead curtain just yet! We had three easy games left but with our recent form games weren't easy. I aimed for fifth place now but anything better than our pre season predicted finish of thirteenth is a bonus. We just wanted to end on a high but was it possible.
A perfect month at the perfect time. We began April with our final home game of the season welcoming Boavista. A good game for us saw us claim a three one win. Toninho got us off the mark after twenty two mintues before Bessa grabbed one three minutes later. Boavista had one back come the break but it was to no avail. We netted a third in the second half through Rafa to secure a three one win.
And things got better when we traveled to FC Famalicao in the penultimate game of the season. A win and a clean sheet was fantastic for us. Rondinele nodded home a corner for us just after the half hour mark before Toninho struck in injury time of the first half to double our lead and round up the scoring.
The final game of the season saw us travel to eighth place Tirsense as we looked for that fifth place finish. We secured our third win on the bounce in a good three one win. Borges got us off the mark after twenty two minutes before Tirsense struck back from the spot before the break. Second half we took a while to get going but went on to claim the win as Bessa netted his his thirty fourth and final goal of the season before Toninho struck for the third time in as many games to round up a three one win.
We had done enough to meet my late goal I set of finishing fifth as we take fourth come the end of the season. It almost feels like a trophy in itself finishing nine places above our predicted finish in what has been a good first season in charge. Only nine points off third place however we did end up being eighteen and nineteen points off second and third place respectively. A great season for us though!

The league is yours next season.

My first season in football management since passing my coaching badges have now come to an end and it was a fine season for us. I led Mirandela to fourth in the table after they were predicted to finish thirteenth so it was a good season and now time to review the season and see the awards we scooped.
The board have claimed to be 'very pleased' with the clubs season under my reign. The clubs performance in both competitions was pleasing, the Taca de Portugal saw us expected to reach the second round but going one better and reaching the third round whilst the board wanted us to avoid relegation in the league and we ended up very comfortable in the top half of the table.
Bessa has gone on to scoop two early awards come the end of the season. The striker ended with thirty four goals in thirty three games this season as he proved to be a scoop on a free transfer. I'm not one hundred percent sure what the first award is for but I believe it is the most man of the match awards whilst he scooped the goal of the season too his strike back in December against Boavista.
The final awards we were involved is was among the team of the season and the clubs player of the season, once again these fell to the same player. Bessa managed to get a spot in team of the year upfront and was our only player to make it whilst the fans also voted him as the clubs player of the year. A grand season for him and a grand season for us, now role on the new season.

One season had come to an end and now my second season was about to begin. We were set to meet with the board again early this season to discuss what they had in store next season. But with my deal coming to an end over the next two months I wasn't even sure if I'd still be in charge.
Luckily the board approached me with a new contract extension which will see me stay in charge. The deal the board approached me with is only a one year deal which means I've only got another twelve months in charge should I not meet their expectations this season whilst I shall be being paid five hundred pounds per week again.
Now the board and media expectations for the season ahead here at Marandela, The board gave me a couple options but I stuck with a safe mid table finish. We really need to try and push on a bit from that this year and I was hoping the board would repay me with money, unfortunately they didn't. We have been allocated just over four thousand pounds for wages which is little over what we are currently spending and no transfer budget. As you can see the media expect us to finish eleventh this year, slightly better than their predictions last season.
The financial situation at the club is very bleak now compared to what it was when I took over. Last season at this stage we were thirty five thousand pounds in the black, this year we are sitting one hundred and fifty three thousand pounds in the red and continuously losing money month on month! We have no transfer budget and just over three hundred thousand pounds to play with in the wage budget, it will be tough this summer!

My second summer here in the sunny side of Portugal has been and gone now and it was a little quieter than last summer but we had made some vital improvements to the squad again. With the transfers and friendlies all done and dusted I hope we are ready for the new season now!
As you can see it was a very quiet summer transfer window for us. I went into this summer seeking a new centre back, a new defensive midfielder and a new goalkeeper however all I came away with is two new defenders. We saw four players leave ona free transfer which reduced the wage bill. We then went on to bring in Marco Ribeiro for free as the centre back looks good for thirty one years of age as well as another centre back in the name of Paulo Sampaio.
And this is the squad I have to work with this season. As you can see the goalkeeper area is very weak and we will continue to hunt for a new keeper weather its on a permanent deal or on loan but I've already had scout reports on twenty plus keepers and none are good enough! Our backline looks slid as does our strikeforce as we have Bessa tied down for another year and Pio Junior to rely on. Midfield is a little quieter with talent however there is enough players to cover the positions.
The club fall further into financial worries as we now move into two hundred thousand pounds into the red. We've apparently lost over forty thousand this season alone whilst our wages are under control with just under four hundred pounds spare for wages should we find another player to bring in.
This summer saw us play just four games which we managed to claim all four wins. It wasn't as busy as I would have liked but in the end of the days its the four wins we required. We began with a five nil win, moving to a two one victory. Kept a second clean sheet as we won three nil before ending the summer with a two one victory. Bessa found the net twice which shows he is ready for another big season!

August gave us just one game once again and that was the first round of the Taca de Portugal game which this year drew us at home. We looked to at least match our run of reaching the third round as last season however knew it would be another tough year in both competitions.
We are off to winning ways this season as we ended August with the Taca de Portugal first round. We welcomed non league side Guarda Desp. We were always expected to win however after quarter of an hour we were behind. Bessa brought us back level however moments before the break. Second half we went on to triumph and claim a three one win as Toninho netted twice in twelve minutes to seal a win.

Into September and it was set for our first full month of fixtures for another season. We had got off to winning ways again as we got off to a flyer in the cup. Now September saw us face five games, four league games along with the Taca de Portugal second round where we faced Benfica CB.
The league started with not only a win but a clean sheet to as we got off to the perfect start. Borges put us ahead after half an hour to start the teams season off perfectly. We added a second late on in the second half, from last years in form striker Bessa as he netted seven minutes from time.
At home we welcomed Benfica CB in the Taca de Portugal, a weak side that were in the same tier as us we thought we should of won. We led after just fifteen minutes through Bessa and held that one goal lead come the break. Second half we were caught out twice on the counter attack and slipped to a two one defeat and out the cup a round earlier than we managed last season.
This hit our league form as we returned home to welcomed Ribeirao and slumped to a defeat with ten men. We saw red for Tuninho after just fifteen minutes and then slipped two goals behind come the break. Second half they went on to add a third and sink us completely.
Away from home we returned to winning ways as we traveled to Limianos and a late rallying cry saw us come back from the dead. Come the break we were behind by one but managed to turn it around in the last seventeen minutes. Corunha netted to bring us level before a fantastic showing from Bessa saw him net twice in the final minutes of play to secure a three one victory.
The final game of the month saw us return home to welcome second place side Famalicao. A tough game on paper and one we were expected to get battered in. However we managed to keep a good display to snatch a point. We were behind a in injury time of the first half but netted almost immediately after the restart as Carlos netted to bring us level and thats how it ended.
Four league games done and dusted and just twenty six more to play this season! We only trail the league leaders by three points as we've made a very confident start. At this stage last season we had nine points from a possible twelve, we may only have seven so far this year but we are in good contention. Sitting down in sixth isn't too bad, still above the expected finish so far.
Dan
We had made another confident start to the league season which saw us above expectations right from the start. However we had to keep it going throughout the whole of the season as we did last year! Three league games were on the agenda for October as we looked to continue battling on.
We got off to October with a flying result as we smashed Amarante three goals to nil to keep the good form going. Rafa gave us the lead after just four minutes and four minutes later an own goal doubled our lead. Come the tenth minute we even added a third through Bessa as it looked like we were going for a romping. However we failed to add anymore after the opening ten minutes.
We then traveled away for the only time this month as we faced high flying Gondomar. A close game saw us lose out so late on. We held them and matched them step for step however a goal for the home side just two minutes from the final whistle sunk us!
We returned home to end the month by welcoming early league leaders Oliveira Bairro who were relegated last year and looking to bounce back up. It was a close game and they took the lead seveneen minutes from time as it looked like we were guna be beaten again. However Borges netted for us just two minutes later as we managed to claim a big point this early in the season.
Seven games down in the league now and we may have slipped up again moving down to seventh in the table but we are not that far from the top teams. We are only two points off third place side Vizela whilst being six off the league leaders Oliverira Bairro! It was a tough month and one I'm sure we will bounce back from next month even stronger! However for now we will take each match as it comes. Usually thats the end of the monthly updates, but this month we have further news.
A high note for sure, Blue Square Premier side Kidderminster have approached me completely out the blue. I didn't apply or declare my interest in it, to be fair I didn't even know it was available. They are predicted to reach the playoffs this year however are currently back in fifteenth and struggling. They've approached me with a one year deal, I've delayed this for now, whats your thoughts?
On a more sour note the board have thrown us in further problems by needlessly reducing our wage bill by a grand. We are now over spending by over five hundred pounds on wages and this means we are losing a lot more money each month than we need to be! Definitely a blow!

Indeed it does grow alot quicker in England Webby but I'm not sure if the job is for me!
As I went into the penultimate month of the calender year, November, I faced a big decision abut my short term future with Kidderminster on the end of the phone expecting a decision. Back on the pitch we faced another four league games as we looked for our form to finally click into place!
Seven days later, KIdderminster came back with their offer to me. However talks broke down as a move to England just isn't on the cards yet and unless a very appealing job comes to point back in England I can't see myself going home just yet. My current job here with Mirandela is well underway and it won't get any easier yet.
Another tough month began by traveling away to Fafe in a game which just wasn't entertaining at all. Possibly a game we should of expected to take all three points from it ended as it started, goalless and level. We took home a point when we could of had three!
And then form got worst. We traveled to Leca in our second away game on the bounce where we slipped to a two on defeat despite us being favorites. We were behind after twenty five minutes but two minutes before the break Bessa netted for us to bring us level. But not holding on to results has been our downpour this year and when they struck a winner three minutes from time we were left pointless again.
As we returned home we returned to winning ways as we claimed a narrow win over Padroense after a one nil win. The only goal of the game came three minutes after the restart as our inform striker Bessa managed to curl one in from outside the box.
We ended the month back on a sour note as we slipped to a one nil defeat at home against high flying Vizela. We couldn't cope with their attacking force and every time they came forward they looked like scoring. However we did slip to just a one goal defeat.
We are approaching the halfway stage in the season and can't stop our slide down the table. Things certainly aren't looking as hopeful for us this year round as they were last season but we know how quickly things can change. Still tenth however only four points separate us from fifth! The table isn't as close at the other end as we sit eleven points clear of the drop zone!
Finally our chairman Virgillo Gomes put the club up for sale in an election style which ended with us having a new owner. Rodrigo Nunez is a consortium and a lifelong fan of Mirandela and just wants to sort the club out. He took out a two hundred thousand pound loan to get us out the red, briefly but hasn't given us any wages back!

Still work to be done in Portugal as Milmaa has said.

Indeed I did Shedender, however this jobs getting tougher!
As I went into the penultimate month of the calender year, November, I faced a big decision abut my short term future with Kidderminster on the end of the phone expecting a decision. Back on the pitch we faced another four league games as we looked for our form to finally click into place!
An unbeaten month began away from home facing Varzim. A tough game saw us come back from two down to claim a point. We began slowly and slipped behind before conceding a second within half an hour. Second half we pulled our fingers out and Toninho netted first before Borges wrapped up the point for us.
And our second game of the month was also away which saw us draw to Boavista despite taking the lead three times! We led after thirty four minutes through Toninho before they leveled before the break. Second half Bessa gave us the lead only for Boavista to strike back instantly. And then we took the lead again! Carlos this time found the net, however Boavista netted with seven minutes left on the clock to claim a point.
The month ended unbeaten and with a win as we returned home and grabbed all three points narrowly over Tirsense. Bessa gave us the lead after just two minutes, and found the net a minute before the break for his and our second of the afternoon. Unfortunately after the break Tirsense piled on the pressure and pulled one back before seeing one ruled out for offside, we held on to the win.
We are one game short of the halfway stage in the league this season but have slipped further down the table. We now sit on twenty points in eleventh place. However its not as bad as it sounds as we are tied with three other clubs meaning we are joint eighth. Still a way to go yet and I hope we can start improving for the second half of the season. Luckily we are thirteen points clear of the drop zone!
Dan
With a new calender year flipped into place some new good form was to come, well that was the plan anyway as we headed into January. It wasn't going to be easy and we had come to terms with every month testing us this season. We are a little lower than I wanted but spot on to our early media prediction of eleventh. Four more games to kick in the new calender year in January.
The month started with a win as we welcomed Vilaverdense and claimed a two win victory. We led after twenty seven minutes as Rafa found the net before we conceded on the stroke of half time. Second half we pulled the game back together and went on to win it when Toninho netted from the spot eighteen minutes from time.
We made it three wins on the bounce when we welcomed struggling Vit. Guimaraes and claimed a four two victory. We led after twenty five minutes when Borges netted before Bessa made it two nil just three minutes later. It went two one before the break. Second half we continued dominating. Toninho netted from the spot kick with eighteen minutes to go, just as he did last match before the away side had a second. However when Carlos netted we rounded up the win.
Unfortunately our three wins on the bounce came to an end as we traveled to Ribeiro as we lost out in a seven goal thriller! We fell behind just six minutes before the break and conceded a second just four minutes later. Five minutes after the restart we found ourselves three nil down and out. However that queued a comeback as Adriano pulled on back for us before Ribeiro surely won it with their fourth. Borges netted our second nineteen minutes from time and Bessa netted with eleven minutes on the clock but it wasn't enough, we couldn't find the final goal.
The final game of January saw us return to winning ways as we won for the fourth time in the last six games. We welcomed struggling Limianos and narrowly edged victory. Again we started slowly and carelessly gave away a penalty after twenty five minutes which was scored. We drew back level a minute before the break through Bessa before Toninho netted two minutes later in the first minute of injury time to gift us the lead. After the restart Borges made it three one before Limianos piled the pressure back on with their second but we held on to victory.
Nine points from twelve to kick off the new calender year has certainly see us rise back up the league table. We've moved from eleventh up to sixth this month as our good form pays off and we move back infront of our expected finish. Only four points off second, third and fourth place whilst league leaders Vizela now sit eleven points clear of us. Not a huge margin thats for sure!

Thanks George! We certainly pulled some good results out in January!
January had started near perfectly for us and now we headed into February with a strong top half finish on the cards for us however knew we'd have to keep up this good form as the table was so close. Last season we ended strongly to claim fourth place, this season we look to do the same. February saw us face four more league games which would leave us with just eight to play!
February began with a very comfortable win as we traveled away to the leagues bottom side Amarante. An easy game on paper proved to be the same on the pitch as we ran riot. Bessa netted after just nine minutes before Carlos doubled our lead on the stroke of the break. Second half we went on to round the win up with a third goal as Bessa netted in injury time.
As we traveled to Famalicao we were undone in a narrow defeat. Despite it being a game we should of won we came unstuck and were unlucky. A goalless first half was brought alive in the second as Bessa had a shot ruled out for a supposedly foul however Famalicao went on to grab the win in the last twenty minutes.
As we traveled to high flying Oliveira Bairro we managed to cause an upset as we grabbed a very hard earned two one victory We took the lead in injury time when Danilo struck from a corner. Borges doubled our lead in the second half with seventeen minutes remaining. We conceded in the last ten minutes however held on to a well earned three points.
The month ended with us playing our first home game in four, which ended all square. We welcomed Gondomar and played out a dull nil nil draw. Neither side really created anything and both sides only made three attempts at goal!
Another decent enough month for us sees us up into fifth and now battling for a strong top half finish for a second season running. We are only nine points off the league leaders Boavista, we aren't likely to get much closer to them but its nice to be in contention. Two points separate us from fourth where we finished last year, it would be nice to equal or better that finish with eight games to go.
Dan
We had started the new calender year in brilliant form and with just a couple defeats since the new year has begun we were now flying up the table and looking good for another top half finish. March gave us five of our final eight league games for the season as we looked to keep this good form trundling along! We could only hope that it continued and a couple of men would stand out for us!
An unbeaten month was on hand for us during March and it began perfectly for us and Bessa as we welcomed Fafe and claimed a four nil win, well Bessa did! He was superb and gave us the lead nine minutes before the break before netting within a minute after the restart to double his and our tally. He went on to grab two more to claim four on the day and four for us!
A second home game on the bounce saw us welcome Leca and slip to a late draw. We took the lead through...yes Bessa! He found the net with a tidy header after ten minutes. However Leca battled all the way to grab a point within the last ten minutes.
We draw two on the bounce as we traveled to lowly place opposition Padroense. A thrilling six goal game finished all square, three a piece. We raced into the lead when Rafa netted after ten minutes before doubling our lead two minutes later when Bessa got on the scoresheet. We went three up in twenty four minutes when Bessa netted his second and we were running away with it. However over confidence killed us as Padroense pulled on back a minute later and claimed another two in the second half to claim a win!
It didn't take long for us to return to winning ways though as we traveled to second place Vizela and claim a four nil win! They failed to show up as we ran riot. Bessa gave us the lead after fifteen minutes before Rafa doubled our lead ten minutes later. After half an hour we were three up when Borges managed to get onto the scoresheet. We added a fourth in the second half with Bessa's second as we ran out four nil winners for the second time this month.
We went seven games without a defeat as we returned home to end the month welcoming Varzim. Bessa was our man on form again as he netted his ninth and tenth goals in just five games to lead us to a two nil victory. Both his goals came in the first half, the first after nineteen minutes before doubling his tally and our lead in injury time of the first half to secure us another three points.
With three league games to go we are back up to where we finished last year, fourth place and in for a close run in. The title is out of our grips now as we are thirteen points a drift with those three games remaining but with us just five points off second place we have a chance on improving from last years finish. However we can still finish down in ninth should everything go against us!

Here was the final month of the season and a second season in charge had absolutely flown by. Portugal was certainly testing my patience and nerves but I was getting on well enough there, or so I thought. With the final month of the season upon us we faced our final three league games looking to secure a nice high league finish. Could we better our position from last year?
The month started in perfect fashion as we shocked league leaders Boavista at home for the final time this season claiming a three nil win. Our usual hero, Bessa, popped up with the opener three minutes before the break which spurred us on and saw us double our lead six minutes after the restart as Carlos scored. We rounded up the surprise win when Rafa netted shortly after.
We continued our fine form as we traveled away in the penultimate game of the season facing Tirsense. It was our man main Bessa who dug us out the win as we claimed all the points. We found ourselves two down at the break and sinking however an inspirational eight minutes hatrick in the second half saw us claim the win. Netting his first with just under half an hour left on the clock he struck again six minutes later and two minutes after that rounded off his hatrick.
The month and season ended on a slight sour note as we slipped to defeat against Vilaverdense. A close game could of gone either way but we were on the losing end. We were two down at the break and provided very little fight despite still competing for a high finish. We did grab a final goal of the season as Fernando netted five minutes from time but it wasn't enough to warrant a point.
There it was! A superb second half to the league season saw us climb from eleventh all the way up to third place and better our finish than the previous year. It definitely was a step forward and if we had played all season how we did in the last three or four months we would of been competing for that top spot. The teams coming along together nicely now and just thirteen points off the top spot, build again next year and who knows!

The second half of the season was near brilliant for us Dyrim, we will try and build again for next year!
A second season in charge of Mirandela and here in Portugal has now come to an end and once again we had players among the end of season awards and the board returned their feedback on the season we've played through as we defy the odds for a second season running.
Once again the board have been very impressed by our season we've just played through as we defied the odds once again. Predicted to finish the season down in eleventh this season we've moved up to third and finished very high. This proved to be a new club record for an all time high position, beating last years fourth place as well as the board being impressed with our season!
This year we claimed another award in it being the Mais Premios Melhor em Campo which I believe is the most man of the matches awards in one season. Rebeiro finished with ten this season whilst we also had Bessa in the top three who came level with Correia as they both claimed eight.
Once again our main man and striking legend Bessa managed to scoop the awards grabbing two again this year. He claimed the Jogador do Ano with a high match rating along with his fine goal scoring record as well as claiming the Melhor Marcador for the second season running with twenty nine league goals in thirty games and thirty one goals in thirty two games in all competitions!
And finally we grabbed double the amount of players in the league team of the year this year round than we did last year. The Equipa do Ano saw Bessa named in it last year whilst he has remained with his spot in the team this year and is joined by another award winner in Ribeiro!
