What's the worst thing you've done to a player or staff member in Football Manager?

I once convinced a player to rethink his retirement just so I could sell him for some cash.

Have you done any worse?

Ruined a club just before leaving?

Ruined a players career so just so someone else wouldn't have him?

I had one player in my Villarreal save and he wanted to leave to a "bigger" club.
After that, I dropped him into Villarreal C for an entire season (Segunda B was desactivated), destroyed his morale and lowered his attributes, then managed to sell him to Zenit for profit. He never got consistent playing time again...

Can't think of any old ones but do have two from my current game. Coming to the end of the 2nd season we was leading the league but then started to drop points and before i knew it we was second to Man Utd, in one our 'must win' games we lost at home (cant think who against) but it ended up costing us the league as finished 2pts behind Utd. Anyway, Santi Cazorla was the lowest rated player (6.40) so i decided to sell him at the end of the season despite still having 4 games left.

Second was Per Mertesacker who played absolutely awful in one of our recent defeats (in real life), well it wasn't just the performance but the whole attitude of him which is something Arsenal fans are used to now. Anyway because of that which obviously had no bearing whatsoever on my game i still sold him.

It was on CM 01-02 and I think the player was Hasselbaink, but he was scoring so many goals and pissing me off so much that I created a second manager, took over Chelsea, sold him to my main team for £0 and then left him in the reserves forever.

On another old game, I got bored once and decided to try and destroy Arsenal. It kind of backfired though... I managed them, put all the players in wrong positions but won my first game 4-1 with red hot striker David Seaman scoring twice. I subbed him off and then Stuart Taylor came on and scored

I cant remember which version it was, but I had an ageing Nicky Butt in my side on a lengthy 3 year contract on a silly wage as it was the only way I could convince him to drop a division. he helped my team get promoted in a low division, but he was pretty much old and useless as far as the next division was concerned. so I offered him a new contract as a coach which he accepted on a much lower wage (he had some bad stats as a coach) and then I promptly sacked him. needs must...

the other 'bad' thing I did was, I was once managing Livingstone in the Scottish divisions, again I cant remember the version, but I got them promoted through the leagues. anyway, to cut a long story short, I applied for the job as Ghana manager as it was available and got it. I was then in the Scottish championship. anyhow, a certain Kevin Prince Boateng, who was touted as a great player at the time, had been struggling team wise and was on the cusp of leaving Portsmouth and was uncapped. so I gave him his first 3 caps for Ghana as an AMC and he promptly scored in all 3 games and I was in his favoured personnel.
his contract ran out soon after and I swooped in quickly as club manager of Livingstone, promptly signed him (took all my budget), and smashed the league with him!
