Forth Round Draw

29th September 2012
By Darren Craven

Capital One cup holders Liverpool will have to come through a tough test if they are to retain the cup after they were drawn away to Man City at Eastlands in the fourth round.

Liverpool and Manchester City did meet in last year's Capital One Cup with the two teams battling it out in a two legged affair in the semi finals. It was Liverpool that came through and interestingly, they managed to pick up a 1-0 away at Eastlands, a result which will give them confidence going into their 4th round tie against the Manchester side.

Elsewhere in the draw Bristol City, who caused a shock in the last round as they knocked out Manchester United, will face Liverpool's Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park. The lowest placed club in the hat for the fourth round, Crewe Alexandra, have been handed a home tie against Dougie Freedman's Bolton. Premier League Reading don't have far too travel as they travel to the Emirates to play fellow Premier League club Arsenal.

Another all Premier League tie sees Michael Laudrup's Swansea take on Paul Lambert's Aston Villa at the Liberty Stadium. Recent winners of the competition Birmingham will travel to Fulham and AVB's Tottenham travel to Blackpool. The one remaining tie in the forth round sees Blackburn travel to Sunderland.

The full draw is as follows:

Sunderland vs Blackburn
Fulham vs Birmingham
Everton vs Bristol City
Swansea vs Aston Villa
Blackpool vs Tottenham
Arsenal vs Reading
Crewe vs Bolton
Man City vs Liverpool

Everton rocked by Jelavic injury

7th October 2012
By John Warrington

Surprise Premier League leaders Everton have been rocked by the news that top goalscorer Nikica Jelavic will be out injured for up to 4 weeks with a broken wrist.

Croatian striker Jelavic picked up the injury during yesterday's 3-0 win over Reading after falling awkwardly after an Ian Harte challenge. Early indications suggest that Jelavic will be out for up to a month, meaning he will miss Everton's trips to Swansea and Tottenham along with the visit of Manchester City to Goodison Park.

Speaking to Rachel Wyse live on Sky Sports News, David Moyes said: "It's a massive blow to lose Nikica at this point or any point during the season. He is a prolific goalscorer and we will certainly miss him whilst he is out injured. Hopefully some of the younger players like Vellios can now come in and stake a claim for a starting place by making an impact and finding the back of the net."

Moyes delighted with Swansea win

28th October 2012
By John Warrington

Everton manager David Moyes has hailed his side after Everton dominated Swansea at the Liberty Stadium, winning by three goals to one.

In an interview after the game at the Liberty Stadium, Moyes said: "What a fantastic result that was. We played absolutely brilliantly and to dominate like that was great to see. My only criticism would be that we should have taken more chances and won by an even more convincing scoreline. Saying that, we were without our number one goalscorer so all in all, I have to be pleased with three goals."

Moyes added: "This just proves that we can play without Nikica Jelavic and that we can score goals without him. Anyone calling us a one man team has now been proven well and truly wrong after that result. Swansea are not a bad side so to come here and dominate like we did is a massive feather in the cap for the players."

Everton manager Moyes was also quick to praise the contribution of summer signing Wellington Nem. "Wellington has come in and done absolutely fantastic for us. He's settled in quickly and his form on the pitch has been just electric. Hopefully he can continue playing like he is an become one of the best ever Everton signings."
