It's called the Lisbon Lions Challenge and the goal is to win the Champions League using the Glasgow side Celtic, just like they did in 1967.
That's not that big a challenge, I hear you cry, Celtic are a big club in Scotland with a lot of gravitas and popularity, here however is the kicker and what I think would make it quite tricky.
The Lisbon Lions team of 1967 was 95% comprised of players who were all born within about a 15 mile radius of Glasgow. Of that 1967 squad, only Bobby Lennox was born outside of the central belt; he was born in the coastal town of Saltcoats.
So, to that end, on your quest to become Champions League Champions you can ONLY sign players who were born in the central belt of Scotland. So Glasgow, Motherwell, Airdrie, Coatbridge and the like for example. Or are showing as Unknown, for their place of birth, so long as they were born in Scotland. Their chosen nationality is not important, I should add, they could be playing for England, Spain etc... so long as they are showing as born in Central Scotland and or born in Scotland in general in the case of unknowns.
To do this I would imagine you'd have to make heavy use of the Youth structure to bring in fresh talent. Keeping players at Celtic might always be a problem as well.
Of the International players who already exist at the club when you start, you have them till their contracts run out but you need to start replacing them ASAP. Obviously the challenge isn't complete until a team of Scotsmen take the field and triumph in Europe. You can however to help keep anyone who's in the first team, who is Scottish, regardless of where they were born in Scotland.
Here's a link to a map with a 15 mile radius around Glasgow drawn on it for an idea of the area you're dealing with.

Let me know what you think. Is this possible? Anyone up for the challenge?

Not everybody has a place of birth listed in their information in FM. Which is why I've said you could do it with people who were listed as "unknown". I agree scouting would be time consuming but really the essence of the challenge is to replicate Jock Steins winning team of local boys and as far as I'm aware you can add in a column for place of birth in the scouting overview.

That's great... I guess it needed 3 posts just to drive that home?

GK - ? Could try re-sign Marshall but probs too expensive
RB - Wardrop
LB - Tierney/ McIlduff
CB - Mulgrew
CB - ? Possibly Findlay?
RM - McMullen
LM - Thomson
CM - Henderson
CM - Allan
CAM - McGregor
ST - Calvin Miller
You need to get lucky though. Sometimes when I start a new save, the younger guys have amazing stats and other times they are awful. It pisses me off!
Gordon, Brown, Christie, Commons, Griffiths, Armstrong unfortunately won't make the cut due to where they're from...and GMS is shite.
With luck and good regens, it's possible.
