Ladbrokes League Division 2: Match #26:
Montrose Rise To See Off Turriff!
Montrose put in a performance after a number of games recently which they failed to find anything while Martin Woods picked up the Man of the Match for Montrose with his great performance in midfield.
The opener came in the 57th minute from the penalty spot, when Sally broke free in on goal only to be brought down by Boyd as the referee pointed to the spot. Sally stepped up and smashed it into the right corner to give Montrose the lead.
They got the second just minutes later as they broke on Turriff fast, where Miller played the ball onto Kirwan who ran into the edge of the box and played it across field to Sally who was unmarked as Kirwan had taken everyone out of the game and Sally slotted home into an empty net.
Turriff pulled one back just seven minutes from time when Boyd, who was lucky to still be on the pitch after giving away the penalty early in the second half crossed from deep to find McKay at the far post who rose high and headed it past the keeper. In the end, it was too little too late as Montrose held on for the good win.

Montrose fell to a single goal defeat against East Fife as they failed to push on from last weeks good return to form in the game played at Bayview Stadium today.
Fife got the goal in the 28th minute as they closed Montrose down well, and were able to get the ball back and counter. They moved it around the pitch from central to right wing where it finally found it's way into the box at the far post. Ferguson rose and headed it back across goal as it took out everyone but Austin who nipped in front of his marker at the near post and struck it home to give Fife the win on the day.

Montrose Edge Opponents In Big Win!
Montrose returned to form with a big victory over East Stirlingshire with a dominating performance at the Ochilview Park stadium on a sleet driven afternoon.
Wood, who had returned to his former club after recently re-signing for Montrose scored the opener in the 27th minute after some good play by Sally who got in behind his marker and ran into the box where his shot was saved by the keeper, only to push it away to the far post where Wood got ahead of his man and placed it cooly into the back of the net.
Stirlingshire equazlied almost immediately as Vidler got the ball on the right side, just outside the box as he crossed it high inside to find Weir who headed it past the keeper to bring his team back level.
Montrose worked hard and got their reward just five minutes before half-time, where Whatley played the ball down the right wing as Wood found lots of space and crossed to the far end where Sally was able to place it home to give Montrose the victory and all three points in a great game.

Stranraer pulled level as they pushed Montrose back and bombarded them with cross after cross that eventually broke them down. McGill crossed from the left side, where it found Graham running in and he powered a header past the keepers hand to spoil the game for Montrose and share the points.

Ladbrokes League Division 2: Match #30:
Montrose Edge 7 Goal Thriller!
Montrose edged a thriller at the Galabank as the three goals scored in the first-half and one early in the second-half was just enough to see them over the line as the final whistle went, despite Annan's great fightback to get something out of the game.
It all began in the 11th minute when Montrose broke, where Kirwan played it across to Sally who saw Wood's run into the box and played it to him. He cooly got to the ball, but was tackled as the ball ran loose where Kirwan ran in to follow up and slotted it into the near post to score the opener.
Annan pulled level as Brown's corner was met by Montgomery who headed home from inside the box. Montrose pulled ahead again as Whatley knocked the ball onto Sally inside the box as it was first cleared out of the area. Sally took his chance and slid it into the far corner to give Montrose the lead. Annan drew level again in the 36th minute as a ball up front was missed by the defence and it landed at Montgomery's feet inside the box who had time and patience to find his shot and place it firmly past Doohan in goal to make it 2-2.
Montrose took a 3-2 lead as the midfield moved it forward quick, Sally played it up to Simmons who played it through the gap to Wood who struck it into the net from inside the box. Crawford's corner in the 52nd minute found Sally who was allowed time and space to strike the ball at goal three times before it found it's way past everyone and into the corner to give Montrose a 4-2 lead.
Gold pulled another back for Annan in the 55th minute as Brown's corner found him running in and he side-footed it past everyone to give Montrose a scare, but they held on firmly to the final whistle and came away with a big three points in a thrilling encounter that wasn't for the weak hearted.

Kirwan scored the opener just before half-time as Lindsay played a ball deep over the top as Kirwan got onto the end of it, but was closed down quickly by the defence yet was still able to make space and get a shot off that escaped everyone and flew into the net to give Montrose the lead.

Montrose Fail To Impress!
Montrose faced off against managerless arch-rivals Arbroath today but it was the away side who appeared to want to win the game as Montrose failed to put the ball in the back of the net with the better chances they had or look too threatening up front.
Arbroath took the lead in the 20th minute as some great passing around the edge of the box lead to Denholm collect it inside on the right, where he dribbled past a defender and slid it across for Linn to score the opener with ease.
Montrose broke level on the 60th minute as Woods found space on the right wing with time to swing it into the box where he saw Kirwan make his run and played it to him as he helped it on it's way to bring Montrose level as the final whistle went later and both teams shared the points.
Montrose rose to get something out of the game, despite in the 17th minute Sally having seen his spotkick saved after Kennedy tripped Kirwan inside the box. Arbrboath will have been the much happier of the two sides picking up a point against their rivals.

Montrose In Scrappy Win!
Montrose came out on top in a thrilling end to end game in front of their home fans to come away with all three points on the day against a tough East Fife side who wouldn't lay down.
Kirwan, also named Man of the Match picked up a brace to help see Montrose over the line with a win and continue the momentum of remaining unbeaten in the league for nine games now.
Montrose opened the scoring in the 5th minute as Crawford played the ball out wide right to Brisbane who was free where he played it quickly into the box as Kirwan found himself with space and helped it on it's way to the back of the net. The second came in the 34th minute as Crawford and Brisbane combined down the right wing, before it found it's way back across midfield to Davie who played it across to Woods who unleashed a cracker of a strike from 30 yards out that flew into the top corner past the keeper's fingers to give Montrose a 2-0 advantage.
In the 52nd minute, Mercer latched onto a ball out wide left and crossed just before the byline as it got headed on by Austin as it sailed over everyone and into the net off the far post to pull one back for Fife. Just minutes later though and Montrose took a two goal advantage once again, when in the 58th minute Woods played a ball over the top as Kirwan ran onto it in the box and looped the ball over the keeper to score his second of the game.
Fife pulled another back in the 88th minute as Ferguson's cross found Austin once more who headed home from inside the box, but Montrose held on to the final whistle to celebrate a good win on the final day of the season and a victory in front of their home fans.

Montrose will have come away from Links Park disappointed after taking the lead but finding themselves going into the 2nd leg to Berwick with much to do after allowing them to score what could be a vital away goal.
Kirwan opened the scoring for Montrose in what has been a prolific season for the striker, as well as picking up Man of the Match for his performance. Crawford played O'Brien the ball on the left edge of the box, who found Kirwan inside as he sidestepped his man and made space to strike it into the far corner and back of the net to allow Montrose to take the lead in the game.
Berwick pushed men on in the second-half and found Misanjo free on the right wing as he crossed to find Lavery head home from inside the five-yard box to secure the draw and big away goal to take into the 2nd leg.

Montrose Fail In Promotion Shot!
Montrose went down to Berwick in a one-sided match that saw the home side come away winning the game 3-1, and 4-2 over the two legs to comfortably see them reach the final of the playoffs.
A hat-trick to Berwick's Williams who destroyed the away side with his performance helped secure Berwick into the playoff final. It all began in the 61st minute when Misanjo played Lavery down the right wing who crossed for Williams to head home from close range to open the scoring.
Montrose broke level within minutes as Brisbane played Kirwan inside the box who looked like he may have taken it too wide but smashed it into the near side to bring his team back level and square the game on away goals. Unfortunately, Berwick upped their game and scored their second to kill the game off as Keane crossed from the right wing to the far post where Williams found himself with space and knocked it into the net to put Berwick back in the lead.
Williams concluded the game with the match ball in the 82nd minute as Keane played it on to Miller who overlapped from fullback position on the right wing and crossed to Williams who placed it into the net and finish it off once and for all to secure Berwick into the final of the playoff games.

Thanks Dan, we struggled with Berwick all season and had a 50/50 chance in beating them from our past record with them but they just destroyed us at their ground and we had nothing left in the tank. Sterling pretty much looked like the team to beat from the start, they ran away with the league from game 1 and looked to be cruising but suffered a few bad results that helped others pull them back and make it a little closer in the end than I first thought would be.

Pre-Season Friendlies:
Montrose put in a good performance in their first pre-season friendly to see-off League 1 side Brechin with a comfortable 2-0 lead. Stephen Simmons was named Man of the Match for his outstanding display in midfield as well as picking up the second goal of the game.
The first came in just the 1st minute of the game as Macauley swung the ball to the far post from the left wing, where Brisbane came running in and slid it home at the second time of asking after a good first save. The second goal came from a free-kick just inside the Brechin half on the left side, where Lindsay played it high and into the box where Simmons ran in behind everyone to pick it up and slide it comfortably past the keeper to ease their worries and secure a good display.
=========================================================================
Pre-Season Friendlies:
Montrose came from behind to Craigroyston to continue their good form as a number of young players were chosen to have a run out in todays game, with several showing their manager that they could move up to the first team very soon with todays perfromance. Graham Webster who has asked for more playing time recently shone as he picked up Man of the Match with a cracker of a goal late on to seal the win.
The opener came in the 61st minute as Tough played in a corner where McGhee rose above his defender to head home and give the home fans something to cheer. Montrose pulled level in the 75th minute as Miller drove down the right wing and played well as he moved up from the Under 20s, where his cross was cleared but they got the ball back and Webster played Mlller in on the right edge of the box where he crossed for teen striker Taylor to head home from inside the 5-yard box to draw level.
The winner was a goal worthy of winning any match as a throw-in deep in the oppositions half was passed to the centre of midfield by Taylor, where it found Webster who had time to place his strike and smashed it into the top right corner to seal the victory in the dying minutes of the game for a good fightback by a mixture of experience and youth in the team.
=========================================================================
Pre-Season Friendlies:
Montrose fought back once more as they saw off the Edinburgh University side who gave them a good game to prepare them for the upcoming season ahead. Mark Whatley picked up Man of the Match for controlling the midfield as well as scoring a goal, while Miller returned to form with a brace up front.
The opener came in the 23rd minute when McGhee was judged to have had his foot high on Robertson which appeared harsh, and destroyed the young boys confidence thereafter as a penalty was awarded. Smith stepped up and put it past Gray in goal who almost made the save.
The equalizer came in the second-half when in the 63rd minute Webster received the ball in the centre of midfield and played it inside for Miller to latch onto it and slide it past the keeper at his near post to bring Montrose level. The home side took the lead just a minute later though to the shock of the away fans, when Cullen played the ball down to Scott whose shot curled around the keeper who came rushing out and smashed into the net off the post to put them back in the lead once more.
Montrose dug deep and pushed men forward to save the game, when Macauley played in Whatley who had made a run from midfield and into the box where he took a step to the side and cracked it into the near corner to bring them back level once again just several minutes later.
Montrose scored a third to take the lead in the 82nd minute when Davidson who had come on and pushed to the right wing, came inside on his left foot and played a beautiful ball in behind the defence that saw Miller run onto it and place it past the keeper to score his second of the game. Webster sealed the deal with another beauty, the same as the previous match as he collected the ball outside the box and let rip with a strike that flew into the top left corner to finish the game off in the 88th minute.
=========================================================================
Pre-Season Friendlies:
Montrose will have come away with their heads held high after a battling performance that should have seen them win the match. Graham Webster picked up the Man of the Match for his wonderful midfield presence.
The opener came in the 11th minute when Webster played a ball to the far post that found Macauley who headed into the near post to give Montrose the lead. Aberdeen, who despite hitting the post several times and seeing Doohan pull off good saves were wasteful with some shots which saw themselves snatch a late, late equalizer when Jack crossed from deep to find Doohan pull off a fantastic save from just a yard out only to see Ross run in and get the rebound and smash it into the net to bring them level.

Scottish Challenge Cup 1st Round Match:
Montrose Show Class To Fight Back!
Montrose came up against League 1 side Stenhousemuir in a tough Challenge Cup 1st Round, but showed resilliance as they fought back from going a goal down to score twice and see themselves go into the next round with Graham Webster scoring the winner and picking up the Man of the Match for his outstanding strike.
It all started in the 26th minute when Stenhousemuir got the ball back from Montrose, sprung into attack where Marenghi was able to get the ball just before it went out on the far right wing and cross, where it found McShane to strike home from inside the box and put the away side ahead.
Montrose pulled level just before the half-time whistle went, as a throw-in deep in the oppositions half was played across field to the edge of the box where Davie collected it and moved forward before striking the shot at goal. Macleod in goal completely misread the strike and accidentally knocked the ball into his own net after it hit the post to bring the home side back level.
In the 66th minute, another throw-in deep in the oppositions half lead to the winner, where the ball found Davie who played it to his side where it found Webster. He unleashed a thunderous strike on his left foot that flew through the air and into the top left hand corner to seal the win. A goal worthy of winning any match as he celebrated with his team-mates while Montrose went on to keep the opposition out and secure their name in the next round of the draw.

Scottish League Cup 1st Round Match:
Montorse Fall To Late Defeat!
Montrose battled hard against Championship side Livingston but found themselves undone in the final minutes as all their hard work fell to a late goal to send them out of the competition for the second year running in the first round.
In the 85th minute, Gibbons collected the ball in midfield, where he played a long high ball forward as the Montrose defence left it for the keeper. Unfortunately, the keeper was slow coming out for it and Gardyne nipped in and placed it calmly past him and into the far post to give Livingston the win and send them into the next round, while Montrose looked distraught at all their work collapsing in the final moments of the game.
Montrose will also be contemplating the loss of their striker Jack Kirwan who went off injured in the first half and looks like he could be out of action for quite a while.

Striker Jack Kirwan has sustained a dislocated shoulder after being the victim of a heavy challenge during the match against Livingston. He will be out of action for approximately 3 months.

Montrose Hold Queen's Park With Ten Men!
Montrose found themselves up against it today as they first found themselves go behind to an early goal, then upon finding themselves level they lost their new teen striker who was put in to the side after Kirwan's injury last week, and were left to fight for the final part of the game with ten men on the pitch having used all three subsitutes earlier in the game.
Queen's Park took the lead in the 14th minute, as Woods hit a beauty of a shot from the left edge of the box that flew into the far left corner with the keeper's hands just missing it by inches as they took the early lead.
Montrose broke level from their 16-year old striker who was given an opportunity to shine and took his chance as they kept hold of the ball well and moved it around just before the half-time whistle, as they went looking for that opening when Lindsay played a beautiful pass that took out the defence as Taylor ran onto it inside the box. The keeper came rushing out but he couldn't stop him as he placed it cooly past him and into the net to give Montrose a good point.
Twenty minutes into the second-half and teen striker Taylor was taken off injured leaving Montrose to play the final twenty minutes with only ten men on the pitch after their manager had already used his three substitutes minutes prior, but they held on strong to secure themselves the draw in the end.

Striker Dean Taylor has suffered strained knee ligaments after chasing the ball during the match against Queen's Park. He will be out of action for 2-3 months. The draw sees us begin our league campaign in 4th spot.

Montrose Unlucky In Draw With Rivals!
Montrose came away from today's game against rivals Arbroath with a point, that should have been three by the time the full-time whistle blew as they let the lead slip on two occasions during the game, despite Arboath dominating the chances and felt they could have got more out of the game.
The opening goal came in the 32nd minute, as Stewart broke down the right wing and crossed into the box, where Macauley moved in from the left wing and slotted the ball past the keeper to give the away side the lead. They couldn't hold on till half-time though as Arbroath broke level in injury time, where a loose ball was picked up in midfield and played forward before it was passed across field to find McKenna outside the box who cracked a shot low and into the corner to bring his team back into the game.
In the 59th minute, Lindsay scored a beauty from just outside the box as they were awarded a free-kick. His shot sailed over the wall and into the left corner to put Montrose back into the lead. But Arbroath broke Montrose's hearts with five minutes left on the clock, as a long ball forward was picked up by Lafferty who had broken in behind the defence who let it go past them as he took it around Doohan in goal and scored into the empty net to secure a point for both sides.

Rennie picked the ball up in midfield just five minutes into the second-half, where he played it across to Stewart who had found himself with plenty of space on the right wing. He crossed to the far post where Macauley nipped ahead of his man and put it into the net to grab a fantastic goal from the home side and secure three valuable points against the current league leaders to continue this season unbeaten in the league.

Montrose Edge Win By Penalties!
Montrose took Stirling Albion all the way to Penalties before securing themselves into the next round after a battling performance by a mixture of youth and experience. Miller thought he had won it in the second-half when he put the ball in the net, only to have been adjudged to be offside while later in the game he saw his header smash against the post and cleared. Clark also saw his goal ruled offside just minutes from full-time as Montrose pushed to get a win.
Despite Stirling dominating in front of goal, they couldn't break down the resiliant defence and goalkeeper as Montrose held firm and kept them out, with Harry Stewart in the full-back role picking up the Man of the Match but in truth it was a solid team performance that saw them pick up the win.
Lindsay missed a penalty for Montrose as his third penalty was tipped onto the crossbar and kept out, which will have set nerves tingling before Weir saw his shot saved next up before Falconer saw his final penalty saved to send Montrose players rushing to Doohan in goal to celebrate the great victory.

Annan took the lead in the 16th minute as they moved the ball around fast before Gray went on a run as he dribbled past several Montrose players before playing it to Hopkirk inside the box who latched onto it and slid it past the keeper to put the home side ahead.
Montrose pulled level minutes later as their young striker Corstorphine drew them level as he was played through the middle on goal and slotted it past the keeper with a cool head on his young shoulders to score. Montrose Strike Back!
Montrose put on a good display against one of the league's poorest disciplinary record teams in Queen's Park on a wet afternoon at Links Park as they saw them off with a solid 2-0 victory.
Lewis Wilson, left wing-back who helped create the two chances for Montrose to score was taken off late in the second-half with a head injury, and may be out for a few days. The first goal came from free-kick in the oppositions half, where it was played short and passed around for a moment before played out wide to the left where Wilson latched onto the ball and drove into the box from the byline. He crossed to find Clark in the center who headed it past the keeper to put Montose ahead in the 27th minute.
The second came from a throw-in deep in Queen's Park half, where Wilson played it to Clark who knocked it back before he whipped in a wonderful cross into the far end for Brisbane to knock it in from the five-yard box to give Montrose the victory and all three points on the day.

Boiling Point As Arbroath Take The Spoils!
Montrose were furious after the final whistle went as Montrose's manager was fuming at the referee for costing his team a valuable point by allowing Arbroath to score after the final whistle should have been blown for full time.
Logan Davie controlled the game in the centre of midfield for Montrose, but both teams failed to make much of their attempts in front of goal and it looked like ending in a draw before controversy hit Links Park as Arbroath broke Montrose's hearts and crushed them to secure a win and break this good run Montrose have been on against their local rivals.
With two minutes shown on the clock for injury time at the end of the game, it went past the mark as Arbroath were given a free-kick deep in Montrose's half. The ball was whipped in by Gunn who played it across to the far end where Tierney got behind everyone and cracked a shot across goal which Doohan appeared to have blocked only to see it fall into his own net.
Afterwards, Montrose's manager was left fuming at the referee for not blowing for the final whistle as the game reached boiling point and the war of words between both managers looked to reach new levels as they were forced away from one another which saw them still arguing as it went into the interview rooms after the game.

Montrose Draw With League Leaders!
Montrose faced off against league leaders Elgin City at home, and what was a tough encounter for the home side turned into a good game in the end as Montrose fought back from going a goal down to draw level and come away with a good point against the opposition.
Robbie Crawford picked up Man of the Match for the second game running as he scored the equalizer, but it was Elgin who took the lead in the second-half. In the 71st minute, the ball was moved around the field by Elgin before it was played up to the right edge of the box and Bruce who found a little space for himself and unleashed a curling shot that flew past the outstretched hands of Doohan in Montrose's goal to sail into the net and give the league leaders the chance to take all three points.
Montrose drew level just five minutes from time when in the 85th minute, a quick counter-attack allowed Stewart to play in down the right wing as his cross was cleared out to Crawford who put his laces through the ball and saw it smash into the top left hand corner of the goal to secure a point against the leaders. Both goals were worthy of securing a win, but in the end you could say they cancelled each other out to share the points in a good game.

Gordon Rennie picked up Man of the Match, as well as score the opening goal in the 30th minute for Montrose as he was played inside the box by Macauley and edged past two defenders to shoot low into the far corner and score. Fife pushed hard though to comeback and scored the equalizer in the 83rd minute when Macleod found himself with the ball on the right wing and crossed from inside the box, where it found Jardine at the far post who had little to shoot at but still found a small gap to score as he crashed it home with venom to share the points.

Montrose bounced back within five minutes though as Dailly's cross from the corner found Macauley who played it to the side where Wilson slotted it past the crowd to bring the home side level instantly. Montrose took the lead in the 71st minute as a long ball forward lead to a mistake by the defence in a poor backpass that allowed Brisbane to get to the ball and played it sideways where he found Corstorphine who smashed it into the near post to secure the win for Montrose.

Montrose Fightback To Beat League Leaders!
Montrose found themselves 2-0 down after just twenty-two minutes of the game, before they fought back to see themselves snatch a late winner and steal all three points against the league leaders and currently managerless Elgin as well as close the gap to them by just three points in this thrilling end of season encounter.
The opener came in the 12th minute as Tait played a long ball over the top as Wilson latched onto it and unleashed a fierce strike from outside the box that flew into the top left corner to put Elgin 1-0 up. They doubled the lead in the 22nd minute as a ball over the top found Wilson who struck from the byline only to see Doohan in goal lose his bearings and the ball fall loose along the line. Austin ran in and was able to just knock it over the line to put the home side in what was considered an unbeatable 2-0 lead.
Just a minute later though and Montrose pulled one back, as the ball was played around the pitch before finding Wilson on the left wing who drove into the box where he passed it on to Corstorphine who swivelled on the turn and played it across to Whatley who smashed it home to pull themselves only one behind.
Just before half-time, Montorse broke level with a nice bit of play which saw Miller collect the ball in midfield, playing it forward to Brisbane who found himself with space and time and he slotted it past the keepers hand and into the far corner to bring Montrose back into the match as Elgin looked on in shock.
As both teams looked to snatch the winner, it was Montrose who broke Elgin's hearts as Stewart's cross from the right wing missed everyone, only to find Clark on the far side who crossed it back to the far post where it found Miller who headed it home to seal the unlikely win against the league leaders and snatch all three points, while Miller himself was named Man of the Match for his incredible final gasp winner for Montrose.

Montrose Steal Title From Elgin On Final Day!
Montrose may have only drawn in their final game of the season, but in the end it was enough to see them crowned Champions of Ladbrokes League 2 after Elgin fell on the final day to a shock defeat that gifted Montrose the victory to win the league by just a single point.
Montrose took the lead in the 8th minute through Ryan Dailly, when a cross by Lindsay found him running in at the far post to head home. Stranraer only had one shot on target, but they made it count in the second-half when Graham ran down the right wing and crossed low into the box which found Malaga who side-footed it home into the corner to give Stranraer a share of the points.
In the end, it didn't matter though as Montrose saw themselves over the line by securing the point after listening to Elgin's result and coming to the realization that they were now Champions of League 2.

Montrose Snatch Late Point In First Match!
Montrose came from behind to snatch a good point while playing at home to rivals Brechin City, while Brechin's manager Stuart McLaren claimed Montrose were lucky to get a late goal and didn't deserve it, while Montrose's manager expressed his words that Montrose deserved something out of the game for working so hard.
The first goal came in just the first minute of the game, as Montrose broke down the left wing and Cathro crossed to find Moore's header saved, but Lafferty ran in for the follow-up to strike home on his debut for the club. Brechin equalised when Fisher's corner in the 18th minute found Meldrum who headed it home from close range.
Brechin took the lead late in the game, when another corner by Fisher in the 83rd minute found Whyte who smashed the ball home from inside the box. Montrose broke level in the 87th minute as they pushed on to find the equaliser and got it finally after some hard work and controlling the ball as Moore's cross found Cathro at the far post who placed it cooly into the net to give Montrose a share of the points on their first game in League 1.

Referee Robs Montrose Of Sweet Revemge!
Montrose came within fingertips of knocking Cowdenbeath out of the Scottish Challenge Cup, but found themselves moaning about the referee who looks like he cost them the game by playing longer than was expected and allowing the away side to snatch a valuable equalizer that sent the game into extra-time, and eventual penalties. Josh Moore picked up Man of the Match for his assist in 2 goals, and scoring 1.
Montrose found themselves down to ten men in the 11th minute, when Chalmers was sent off by the referee for a two-footed challenge on Roberts. But, Montrose did rise to score the opener in the 28th minute from a corner by Moore who found MacLennan inside the box who headed home to shock the home side.
Although two minutes were added to the game, it was the third minute of injury time where Cowdenbeath equalized as the ball played into the box found Handling who slotted it past Doohan's hands to bring the home side level in the cruelest of fashion. The game went into extra-time where Copp received the ball on the edge of the box and drove inside to smash it into the far corner and low to give the home side the lead.
Montrose, to their credit didn't drop their heads though and pushed on and found their own dramatic equalizer in the 102nd minute as new signing Osadolar crossed from the left wing to find Moore unmarked who smashed it home. It wasn't over though as Roy met Quitongo's cross at the far post in the 105th minute to head home and put Cowdenbeath back in front in this strange game. Montrose did the unthinkable though, with ten men for most of the game they found another goal to draw level as Osadolar brought them back in when Moore played him through and he placed it cooly past the keeper in the 120th minute.
As the game went to penalties, Horne saw his first strike saved, before Corstorphine saw his fourth shot saved while Cowdenbeath were calm and collective in their penalties and sailed into the next round.

The opener came in the 35th minute as Hopkins was played the ball on the left wing, unmarked, and crossed to find McInally who slotted home from inside the box to put Forfar ahead. Montrose drew level in the 53rd minute through bizarre fashion, when Forfar had a throw-in inside their own half only to see Corstorphine snatch the ball and run in on goal, before his strike caught the keeper but he wasn't able to hold on and it sailed into the net to give Montrose a share of the points.

Montrose Fall To Late Defeat!
Montrose almost came away with a point, but fell at the last moment thanks to a late goal for Stenhousemuir that shattered Montrose's hearts and sent them away with nothing in a hard fought encounter.
The home side took the lead in the 7th minute when they passed the ball around before it found it's way to Langton outside the box, who turned smartly and played in McKenna who smashed it home to fire the home side in the lead. Montrose pulled level in the 24th minute as Blues played a ball through, only for Corstorphine to leave it and it found Osadolar who was through on goal and he cracked it inside the net to bring the away side back into the match.
In the 50th minute, a long ball by Stirling found Langton who latched onto it, held off his man and found space to crack a shot at goal as it sailed past Doohan's hands and into the corner of the net to give the home side the advantage once more. Montrose pulled level once more in the 61st minute as Steven's corner found MacLennan who saw his header saved and it bounced around for Osadolar again found the ball at his feet, and it took him two attempts to drive it past the keeper and help bring his team back into the match once more.
But, in the 90th minute, Stenhousemuir snatched the victory as McKenna's whipped cross to the far post from the right wing found Nesbitt who headed home to secure the win and give Montrose nothing in a game they worked hard to get something out of.

Montrose Fall To League Leaders!
Montrose were helpless as they fell to the league leaders Forfar who cruised to a victory at Links Park and dominated much of the match.
Forfar moved the ball around before Smith played the ball through for Armstrong to run onto and in the box as he slipped it past the oncoming keeper to score the opener in the 9th minute. The second came when Gibbons free-kick was knocked on by Hall, before Smith latched onto it and cracked it home from inside the box.
Montrose pulled one back from the Penalty spot in the 51st minute as Horne placed it away, after Archibald clattered Osadolar in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. It was too little too late though as Montrose couldn't get another and Forfar came away with a comfortable win.
