My plan for this career is to fill Allsvenskan, the Swedish premier league, with as many teams from Stockholm as possible.

I started off by taking control of one of the few teams that actually have the name “Stockholm” in it – IFK Stockholm in the second division Södra Svealand (fourth tier). However, after a disastrous first season we finished bottom of the table – relegation – sacked!

I then moved my bags a couple of miles to the east and took over Nacka FF playing in the secon division Norra Svealand, in the beautiful municipality of, well, Nacka. This team I had really high hopes for. We had two former top league wingers, Sebastian Castro-Tello and Haris Laitinen. Both have lots of routine playing in Hammarby and still not more than 30. But I still hadn’t found my way into the game and after a 5th place the first season and a very disappointing 9th place the next, the board decided I was not longer the man for the job, and didn’t renew my contract.

My next move was to the southern suburbs of Stockholm and the newly relegated team Enskede IK. Now this was a team with a lot more quality than the previous ones. I had also learned a thing or two from my previous mistakes.

In my first season we did what the board, fans (all 150 of them), me and the players demanded – we won the league. Much thanks to a good affiliate work with parent club Djurgården who let us use a lot of their youngsters for free.

We continued the same way the next year and won a straight promotion to the Superettan, the second tier of Swedish football, with almost the same team.

The first season we survived, finishing in a honourable 10th place. The second season a couple of steps forward to the 6th place. And the third season we finally did it, won the league and gained promotion to Allsvenskan.

One of the things I am most proud of is that the first team consists of about seven players that have been with us from the division 2 days. A player presentation will come in a later post.
This was the history of this career, I will continue it from where I am today in 2023 and my sixth season with Enskede.

As this career is not just about my own team, I will from time to time do a presentation of the Stockholm teams in Allsvenskan. And this year, 2023, there are more teams from the capitol than ever. The three big ones – AIK, Djurgården and Hammarby are there as they should be. But this year we have three more! It’s talent factory Brommapojkarna, ACF United (former known as Väsby United) and us.

Team presentation

This is the team that will be my first choice pickings going into Enskede's very first season i the Swedish top flight.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Yi7iPbXa933s9dsXSJp5mWcDzKbK4elwrXYTazpR.png

Goalkeeper
25. Hennie Versteeg. An 18 year old goalkeeper might seem risky, but the loanee from Ajax is already well suited for Allsvenskan fotboll, and I will try too keep him around for as long as possible.

Defenders
16. Albin Welén. A club legend after first spending three seasons on loan in the second and first division, then returning to Djurgården for three solid seasons in Allsvenskan before joining us again at the begining of this year.
14. Andreas Holmström. Doing his sixth (!) season on loan at the club, and has been with me every year at Enskede.
12. Randy Keizer. Another loan player from Holland, this time from AZ where he actually played 12 games in the Eredivisie last year.
5. Francisco Javier Rodriguez. The Spanish left back arrived on a free from Malaga after playing 24 games there last season in La Liga. He has also made a couple of u21 appearances for Spain.

Midfielders
6. Jörgen Wilhelmsson. The heart, the rock, and the captain of the team, despite being on loan. It is however his seventh season here, and I have tried to sign him permanentely for years but he keps on signing new deals with Malmö FF.
15. Besard Sabovic. Club icon who has been with us for a long time. First he made six seasons on loan before joining last year. In his worst season he had an average rating of 7.42 in 27 games!
10. Alexander Bergendahl Kärki. This club legend also started his career at Enskede on loan from Djurgården, and then joined on a free after two seasons in 2020. He has done six seasons in a row with an AR above 7.5 (including two 8.02 seasons)!
17. Noel Holm. Sixth season on loan from Djurgården - do you see a pattern here?
20. Saman Ghoddos. A new signing this season and a player who has done almost ten seasons in Allsvenskan with Hammarby and Östersund.

Striker
18. Teddy Bergqvist. This has been the most difficult position to fill. I want to play with a false nine and there are not many Messis for hire if your are a small, unknown Swedish club. But Teddy, going into his third year here, will do for now.

Quite an interesting concept this. I might steal it but with the English Midlands instead of Stockholm.
Keep up the good work!

the swedish barcelona you have done well to find a player even remotely capable of the false 9 role at that level, will be interesting to see how you get on in the top division...

We'll see about that Barcelona thing... And actually Teddy B couldn't do it, I think he started 7 matchas without scoring and after that he had to stay on the bench.

This is interesting @itchycoo and I will be following. KIU.

Thanks Shed!

Enskede’s first venture in the top league in Sweden was a bumpy ride. We were predicted to finish bottom of the table, and in the beginning of the campaign it looked like the pundits were right. We weren’t playing badly; we just weren’t good enough when it came to taking our chances. But in the later part of the season we started to find the net a bit more often, and Daniel Ring showed why he should have been first choice striker from the beginning scoring an impressive 13 goals in 22 matches. With three games to go, after our ninth Stockholm derby of the season we received the message we had been hoping for all year:

In the end we did it with an eight points margin. Unfortunately we have to say good-bye to AFC United who never left the relegation zone in all season. That means five Stockholm teams in Allsvenskan next season.

Bergendahl Kärki was once again superb, and together with Sabovic was able to control most games from the middle of the park. What a player, and what a career he's had at Enskede. Long may it last!

Congrats on staying up @itchycoo! Loving this so far- Kärki looks like a class player for you. Like your very own Kluk? Lets hope you can push on next season now you have avoided relegation.

Our finances are terrible. We just don’t make any money. With a stadium capacity of 3000 and an average attendance of about 2000, ticket sales isn’t a bank filler. No great sponsors, no TV money, no valuable players to sell, and so on… We need European football, and we need it fast. I had to sell Daniel Ring, our top scorer last season, for a massive 50K.

So this is what the first team will look like as we start the 2024 campaign. And a screen shot of the ones that weren't included last year.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/igOJGTthUfqwCt9AjplNQ7rUMAJYirPwPn3UOaM1.png

13. Gustav Jarl. With our first choice left back Rodriguez injured for a couple of months Welén moves over to the left and Jarl takes the right hand side. He played a lot of games last season and did well.

24. Christoffer Johansson. I send Randy Keizer back to Holland, as he didn’t impress me enough. Like Jarl, Johansson played quite a few games last season.

7. Frédéric Bertrand. With Bergendahl Kärki out injured for the first half of the season I will play the French loan player in the central position.

22. Nem. Skilful player who I hope can produce a fair amount of points.

9. Felice Manfrin. Italian striker who I hope can score around 15 goals.

18. Benito Langil. And a French one on the bench who’s injured at the moment. But would probably have started if fit. Now it depends on how good Manfrin starts.
