@Dan I been there just over 2 years, and they were the team I was at when I stopped playing this save, so it just got a bit stale. Added to it, the fact that a lot of the first team players wanted to leave, so it'd be the same rebuilding job as last year. Also, I enjoy managing in continents and countries that I am unfamiliar with, so the Premier League got quite boring. But Brazil is a fun place to work, and I think we should be up there in terms of winning the title this year

Transfer

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KkQ8oesYQh04bR6lxWftybbE0iPS0UAE8pZHB9F7.png

Didn't initially want to sell him, as he does have a role to play, and at only 22, he definitely can improve. However he was constantly moaning that he never got a consistent go in the team, but half the time he was away with Peru and came back unfit, so that was at least 3 games he missed every 2 months, approximately. Even when I gave him gametime, he was pretty useless, and the final straw was when he said this, and as soon as he said it, he was transfer listed, put in the U21s and sent to the worst club that came in for him, which was Vitoria.

Club legend, Paulo Victor, has retired after 19 years at Flamengo. He played 447 times, however I did try to play him so he could get to 450, but he broke his finger. He is now an U20s goalkeeping coach

The final month of the season began in the worst possible way, with two straight defeats, the first one being against Corinthians. It was a tight game, but the main talking point was Ricardo Goulart's injury. The next loss was against Bragantino. A very disappointing defeat, which meant we lost valuable ground on the leaders. We turned it around, however, with a 3-1 win over plummeting Santos. Joelinton scored, as well as Clayton and an OG. We continued to win, with a 4-1 victory against relegation-threatened, Botafogo. Clecio scored the first goal, Joelinton grabbed a brace and Clayton scored another. However the good results soon ended, with a 3-3 draw to Palmeiras. We deserved to win as we went ahead twice, however Flavio got himself sent of on 54 minutes, and cost us 2 points which is all that Fluminense needed to secure the title. So with the title already out of reach, we had to play Cruzeiro, last years champions. For some reason, I was under the illusion that we had already secured continental football for next year. So we took the lead through Clayton, but they equalized immediately. Then in the 68th minute, the scored and went ahead 2-1. It wasn't until I saw that we had dropped down to 4th that I started to panic. We had been fingertips from the title without looking like finishing outside the top 3, but now we faced disappointment, with 15 minutes remaining. I went on overload, and Clayton scored, however we were only in 3rd. I wanted 2nd. Somewhat riskily, I decided to stay on overload, but it paid off. Clayton grabbing a hat trick, and securing 2nd place. One of the most stressful games of FM I've ever been in. After the game, Clayton set a new record for average rating, and also won the player of the year, despite not being near the favourite to win it, a few games back. Also Joelinton was announced at the top marksman in Brazil, and finally, Clecio, slightly surprisingly, won the young player of the year award, despite only being a rotation option for us.

Fluminense won the league by 4 points, unfortunately, but we did finish 2nd, which is great, considering we were 9th when I took over. ABC FC, Vasco, Ciricuima and Botafogo were relegated (At least I think so!).

The Squad

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8zcnxBwYu3MXsxY2T7uVDDcKH99lFDQZyM2gKYlp.png

With Paulo Victor retiring, I need a backup keeper, as well as a third choice. Willian is also leaving on a free so I need a new backup left wing. Azul and Roberto are back, who play on either wing; Roberto is good enough to be the backup, however Azul - probably not... yet. I want to get rid of Richarlison and probably Bruno Gomes, and Felipeinho and Marco Antonio can be backups. Antonio was on loan at Avai, and can be quality. I may look to promote other youngsters from the reserves as we have plenty players who can come in. Henrique, who was on loan in Ecuador, will probably be sold also.

To go along with the abundance of individual awards our players won, we had 5 player in the Brazilian TOTY, and 1 player in the South American TOTY. Xuxa was in the South American one but not the Brazilian one... Heredia has interest from Lyon and Lille, so it'll be a struggle to hold onto the 26 year old.

The Star Man

Unsurprisingly, Clayton is the star man. He won 2 awards at the end of the season, however his back story is interesting; when I came in, he barely played, and wanted to leave. I gave him a chance, and he performed. He got 14 goals in 19 league games, from right wing, which is incredible. He was particularly vital as Joelinton's goals dried up at the end of the season, so his goals were crucial to us finishing 2nd.

The Journeyman - Transfers

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6jooXoZ8fMB5ouLuZgGwMB8rOTH4XkbHazvTXleK.png

Transfers Out

Henrique - Was a 2nd choice left back, but Lucas Mendes, took that from him. He became 3rd choice as a result and was never going to play, so was taking up the spot of a potentially younger player coming through

Bruno Gomes - Never found any sort of form, and at 27, there are definitely better options than him. He has gone to Lyon for £1.5m

Richarlison - Another one, similar to Gomes. Never scored consistently, and always moaned about gametime. Managed to get £2.6m for him from Galatasaray, which is definitely over what I'd value him.

Lucas Mendes - Was a 2nd choice left back, but really declined over the break, and with the introduction of Aleluia, a much younger and better player, coming through the ranks, he wasn't needed. Went out on loan to Pacos de Ferreira.

Leandro - The biggest sale of the window. First choice centre back, Leandro, made the £6.25m move to France with Marseille. The best centre back at the club, but I couldn't turn down a move to Marseille.

Azul - Went on loan to Standard Liege, as I need him to progress, following the introduction of a new signing in his position.

Willian - Left on a free at the end of the season, but has recently signed with rivals for the league, Atletico Mineiro. Only on £18k a week, and if he accepted something like that from me, he might still be here.

Transfers In

Douglas Costa - At 33, he doesn't have many years left, but has played at the top level for several years with many different European sides. Will battle for a starting spot on either wing with Boschillia and Clayton. His contract was expiring at Napoli, so I managed to get him for £750k

Gabriel Batista - A backup goalkeeper - won't play much, but is only 25 and was a youth product of ours. Only came in for £43.5k and is on nothing wages

Hugo Feijo - Another Peruvian. He comes in as the Leandro replacement. He will start most games, but the main aspect of his game is his height and power. 6'7" and 17 strength, and is only 20. Came in for £3.9m from Bahia.

Rodrigo Cisternas - Wow. The Chilean international left back came in on a free after being released by Gremio. Is on the highest wages at the club, and there is no way he should be playing at this level. Will take Lorran's place, unluckily for Lorran, who hasn't done anything wrong, but Cisternas is the best player at the club already. Still only 23, and I can't see him being here long but I think, if the right clubs are interested, I think we could get around £20m for him.

These are the total transfers so far. The only other transfers of note were Federico Mancuello, who was released and subsequently retired. An abundance of youngsters have been sent out on loan.

The last transfer than has happened since the last update, and it's a big one; the biggest of my tenure here. Clecio has left to French side Bordeaux for £10m. Was only a rotational player but was going to take the place of Goulart in the coming seasons.

I don't understand these leagues, but basically many sides from the top, second and sometimes third, tiers in Brazil, come into 2 leagues. And, as you can see, it's pretty easy. In the first game, we won 6-0 against Resende. Clayton got a hat trick, Heredia, Costa and Clecio also scored. In the next game we won 5-0 against Macae, Clayton getting another hat trick. Costa and Boschillia also scored. For the third game, we won 9-0 against Nova Iguacu. Clayton, scored 5 and earned 3 consecutive hat tricks. Felipinho got a brace, Costa got his 3rd in as many games and Joel Bondi got his first goal for Flamengo. Due to Clayton's 5 goals he got a 10.0 match rating, which is...decent. The next game was a more challenging game against Gremio. We got a 2-2 draw Clayton again scoring, as well as Felipinho. The final game of the month was another comprehensive victory, by 7 goals to nil. Clayton got his goal, Joelinton scored his first 3 goals of the season, Heredia scored again, Joel Bondi got his second goal for the club, whilst Cisternas scored his first goal for the club. Claytons goal meant he broke the goalscoring record after 5 games

The League Tables

The first one is the one that we're predictably dominating. We have won each of our first 5 games, scoring 31 goals and conceding none in the process. I expect to come first without question

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/905j2CyKxWjlTijOLdbWWhppNNO06RmV3Iv7jzSx.png

The second one is more of a group format, but I still have no real knowledge as to what it is. We'll have to beat the other two teams as well as probably Gremio in the return fixture to have any chance of progressing. But other than Gremio, the only other real contenders are obviously the league champions, Fluminense

This was obviously taken before Clecio left for Bordeaux. Interestingly, Thales Natanael has had interest from Lille despite not featuring for us so far this year. Watson Rennio has also had interest from Lille, who seem to be trying to steal our team, as they made a bid for Gaston Heredia earlier in the window.

Didn't really have a choice. With 12 goals in 5 games, and a ridiculous average rating, Clayton has really stepped up. He has 30 goals in 36 league games in his career for us too.
