Man City to bid for Baines

29th November 2012
By John Warrington

According to sources close to Sky Sports, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is set to launch a bid to sign Everton left back Leighton Baines in the January transfer window.

It is not known whether or not David Moyes' Everton are willing to sell their star left back after apparently slapping a 20 million pound price tag on the England international. The 27-year-old is a regular starter for Everton and has made 16 appearances already this season, scoring a goal against Stoke at Goodison Park.

Baines joined Everton from Wigan for 6 million pounds back in the summer of 2007 and has been an ever present for the Merseysiders ever since. In the last two seasons, Baines has made 71 Premier League appearances for Everton and scored 9 goals meaning Everton are more than likely not going to sell the England left back.

Semi Final Draw

3rd December 2012
By Darren Craven

Manchester City will face Fulham in the semi finals of the Capital One cup after the two sides were drawn together in the draw live from FA headquarters.

The two sides have already played each other this season back in September at Eastlands. Manchester City were favorites but Fulham caused a shock as goals from Steve Sidwell and Mladen Petric gave Fulham a 2-0 victory. City will be looking to avenge that defeat when the two sides meet in the semi final, with the first leg being at Eastlands on the 9th of January. The second leg follows at Craven Cottage two weeks later.

with two semi finals still yet to be decided, the other side of the draw sees either Everton or Tottenham face Arsenal or Sunderland. With home advantage in the quarter finals, it is expected that the semi final will see Everton meet Arsenal. Everton, however, have already lost to Tottenham this season, losing 1-0 at White Hart Lane. Arsenal too have lost to their opposition this season, losing 1-0 at the Stadium of Light in September.

The full draw is as follows:

FA Cup 3rd Round Draw

4th December 2012
By John Warrington

Leeds will have a chance to once again shock Manchester United in the FA Cup after drawing them in the third round at Elland Road.

The last time the two sides met was in 2011 when Michael Owen scored in a 3-0 Man United win. However, in 2010 it was Leeds who took the spoils as a Jermaine Beckford goal gave them a 1-0 win at Old Trafford. Elsewhere, United's main rivals City face a trip to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa and Premier League leaders Everton host QPR at Goodison Park. Another all Premier League draw sees Chelsea travel to Swansea and League Two AFC Wimbledon host Norwich.

The lowest ranked side in the draw, Brackley, face an uninspiring trip to League Two Rotherham and Woking host Preston. Stevenage will be out to cause an upset as they travel to Tottenham and West Brom travel to Leyton Orient. Ipswich will play host to Liverpool and Arsenal travel to Watford. Gillingham and Sheffield United will have to be at their best to get through to the fourth round as they travel to Stoke and Newcastle respectively.

The full draw is as follows:

Stoke vs Gillingham
Chesterfield vs Blackburn
Brentford vs Peterborough
Aston Villa vs Man City
Sunderland vs Charlton
Ipswich vs Liverpool
Fulham vs Aldershot
Burnley vs Wigan
Oxford vs Barnsley
Leeds vs Man United

Nem injury blow for Everton

23rd December 2012
By John Warrington

Premier League leaders Everton have been rocked by the news that influential winger Wellington Nem will be out for atleast 3 weeks after breaking two ribs in their win over Arsenal yesterday.

The 20-year-old Brazilian winger picked up the injury just after the hour after he was involved in an accidental collision with Arsenal's Spanish left back Jose Enrique. After a scan at the Royal Liverpool hospital earlier today it has been confirmed that Nem has broken two ribs on his right hand side and will be out for atleast 3 weeks, potentially over a month.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News, Everton manager David Moyes explained how Nem was a big loss but he was confident that some of his other players could step up. Moyes said: "Obviously losing Nemmy is a big blow to us as he's been sensational for us this season. He really has been the stand out player this season so far. However, I'm confident that we have the players in the squad that can step up and take his place."

"If you look at our squad we have Steven Naismith, Kevin Mirallas, Bryan Oviedo and Leon Osman who can all slot in on the left side of midfield so it's not like we are out of options. Any of those four could get in sides in the Premier League so it just shows how well Nemmy has been playing to keep them out. It's up to one of those 4 now to step up and claim the spot as their own."

Moyes named December Manager of the Month

1st January 2013
By Lee Hooton

Everton gaffer David Moyes has reason to celebrate today having been named the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for the month of December.

Moyes has been named manager of the month for December after winning five out of the six games played in the month, only losing one. During the month Everton scored ten goals and conceded just two, only failing to score in one game. The month started out with a fine 3-0 win over Sunderland at Goodison with Nikica Jelavic scoring twice to add to Kevin Mirallas' opener. Eight days later, we traveled to Anfield to play Liverpool and left with a 2-0 win thanks to Marouane Fellaini and Charlie Austin.

Our only loss of the month came on the 15th as we lost 1-0 at Old Trafford after having Kevin Mirallas sent off. A week later we bounced back well as Charlie Austin scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Arsenal at Goodison. Our next game was also at Goodison as Anderson and Apostolos Vellios scored in a 2-0 win over Southampton on boxing day. The final game of the month was at Stoke and a brace from Apostolos Vellios saw us to a 2-1 win at the Brittania stadium. 15 points out of a possible 18 and still top of the league.

Last updated at 19:15

Championship side Barnsley will be looking to repeat their FA Cup heroics of 2008 when they beat both Liverpool and Chelsea after drawing Chelsea at Oakwell in the FA Cup 4th round.

It will be the first time the two sides have met since Barnsley's 1-0 win and Chelsea will be looking for revenge. Also out for revenge will be Cardiff. A midlands derby is on the cards as West Brom face the short trip to Villa Park to play Aston Villa. Another all Premier League tie sees Stoke travel to the south coast to play Southampton. Coventry and Brighton will go into their 3rd round replay knowing that the winner will have a home tie against Norwich and Blackpool travel to Newcastle.

The full draw is as follows:
