Results
So far so good in the league, with only two defeats in our first sixteen games. Some really good results in there, particularly the 4-0 win over Colchester, whilst our 5-3 defeat at Plymouth was really disappointing.
Early exits in the Carling Cup (2-1 to Sheffield Wednesday after extra time) and the JPT (2-1 to Blackpool) aren't of any real significance other than loss of income from ticket sales.
Table
Really good start, and a slender lead over Portsmouth who really should be doing a lot better in my opinion. Mansfield and Blackpool have also been very good early season, and it should make for an interesting promotion race. The board are only looking at us to secure a top half finish this season, so we have a lot of room to bring some younger players into the first team without losing any of their faith in me.
Players of the quarter
3. Callum Saunders
Our young striker has been really good for us this season, despite picking up a knock early on. He's scored 7 goals in all competitions, and looks to be making some good improvements to his stats.
2. Ryan Seager (loan from Southampton)
I don't intend to use the loan market too much in this save, but Seager was already at the club and is in great form. 10 goals and 7 assists so far this season is just fantastic, and if he becomes available, I'd love to add him permanently.
1. Oli Turton
Oli has been superb so far this season at right back, and has really been a star performer. He has the highest average rating in the squad, but his five assists have been a great addition to our attacks. He is solid at the back, and I am really pleased with his progression so far even if the green arrows aren't reflecting this just yet.
