Hodgson to leave post following Euro 2016 exit
Roy Hodgson will leave his managerial post as England's head coach this summer, following the teams exit from the European Championships. England, who were expected to reach the final this year under Hodgson, were eliminated in the Quarter Finals, losing 2-0 to Germany.
It is believed to be through 'mutual consent' that Roy [Hodgson] has left this summer following FA Chairman Greg Dykes high expectations of this competition. Reaching the Final was the minimum achievement set out for Roy, but the early exit cost him his job. It is not yet known whether he will seek another managerial role or retire from management completely, it is expected to be the latter of the two.
England were drawn in a tough group, facing Italy, Iceland and Austria and right from the start looked shaky. After losing their opening game 2-1 against Italy, despite going one nil up and then drawing two all with Austria, it looked like England could go out in the groups. They recovered to beat Iceland 1-0, that being enough to see them through to the Second knockout Round of the competition, finishing in second place.
Video: Harry Kane celebrates his winner against Iceland
Out of the group stage and into the knockout rounds, England went on to face Ukraine in the last 16. A win came, just their second of the tournament as Wellbeck scored from the spot kick and James Ward-Prowse scored his first ever England goal inbetween a Zozulya equaliser was enough. However that was to be the final 'high' point of the summer for the England national team.
Drawn with Germany for the Quarter Finals, there was a nervy edge over the game, and despite and even game statistically, England didn't take their chances, eventually crashing out 2-0 against the World Cup holders.
Now Roy, who took the hotseat back in 2012, will hand a youthful looking batch of players to the next national team manager. We're yet to see the FA shortlist of managerial candidates.

FA 'In talks with potential new manager'
Just a couple weeks after Roy Hodgson departed at the helm of England national team, it is believed that the FA are already in talks with a potential new manager to take England forward to bigger and better things. Greg Dyke today confirmed that there were talks being held however no names will be given at this time.
Following the conclusion of the European Championships which saw England crash out to eventual winners Germany, 2-0 in the Quarter Finals, it now appears a new England boss will be announced sooner rather than later following Hodgson dismissal just over two weeks ago. It is believed Hodgson left with a heavy heart but knew it was the right thing to do for the countries national team.
Whilst no names have been leaked as shortlisted for the England role, it is believed that Brendan Rodgers and Tony Pullis are interested in the role. Whilst there are also 'ex players' names such as David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrards name being thrown into the hat. Whilst this is all speculation, an announcement on the new boss is expected to come sooner rather than later.
Greg Dyke, FA Chairman, had this to say earlier "we are nearing the end of our managerial search which has spanned out just over two weeks. We are not in a rush to get an announcement out however it will come sooner rather than later."
"We'd like to officially thank Roy [Hodgson] for all his hard work he has put into the team over the last four years, however all good things must come to an end and it was our time to mix things up a little bit" He also went on to add "its times like this we need the backing of the whole country for our choice of new manager, please stand by us".
The new manager is expected to be announced within the next couple of weeks.

Beckham sends twitter into overdrive
David Beckham has this morning sent social media site Twitter into overdrive following a tweet from his personal account suggesting he attended the meeting with Greg Dyke yesterday morning. We produced a story linked to The FA website regarding a meeting between the chairman of The FA and a mystery candidate in line for the England job following Hodgson departure.
Beckham's tweet appeared to suggest he was the one meeting with the FA Chairman yesterday morning.
Beckhams Tweet that sent twitter into overdrive
This was later backed up by another tweet from the Beckham' account, this time Victoria who tweeted saying "So proud of David" with a union jack flag.
Whilst the rumors begin and continue to circulate this will put pressure on The FA to announce something in the next few days. Afterall it appears to only be time that is holding up the announcement of the next England manager. Are we set for a former player, to take the helm and bring his ideas in...

David Beckham unveiled as new England boss
David Beckham has today officially been announced as the new England boss following reports on twitter, the FA were forced to show their hand and reveal the news. Beckham takes over from Roy Hodgson following the poor display at this summers European Championships as they crashed out in the Quarter Finals.
Beckham won't have much to do immediately, with his first game being an away friendly in Isreal in September. David [Beckham] first game competitive game in charge will be on the 4th September as his England side face a battle of the home nations with a trip to Scotland in the first of four World Cup Qualifiers this calendar year. In October he'll then face his first game at Wembley infront of an expected capacity crowed as they faced Lithuania before travelling to Malta. He'll end the calendar year with a second home game against Slovakia.
More on this as we get it.

Beckham has 'big things planned' for revolutionised England
David Beckham, who was earlier revealed as the new England manager has spoken with the media this afternoon for the first time since having his name thrown into the hat for the post. The meeting, which took place earlier in London saw the new manager explain how he has 'big plans' to kick off his reign as England manager, however we are yet to know what these are.
This will allow Beckham a lot of time to sort out any changes he has planned before getting into the serious business on the pitch.
In the interview David was asked a series of questions, as the media dug deep to find out all the information. When asked what plans he has for the England squad, he responded "there are some big changes I have planned, I really want to get a more youthful look at this England side". "There will be some shocks over the next few weeks, but I'm asking everyone to stay with me as these happen."
"I can't say we're going to have instant success, however we need to try something new, something to challenge the opposition whilst impressing on the pitch". "There will be changes on the pitch and off it, I have already spoke with Greg regarding my ideas and he is backing me." "I hope to bring a new lease of life into this England side.
There are concerns over the youth squads current managers, Gareth Southgate and Adrian Boothroyd as this is an area Beckham is looking to change up to provide a better look at the squads.

Southgate and Boothroyd leave England posts
Just hours after taking control of the England set up and meeting with the media revealing 'big plans ahead', David Beckham has made his first move towards the future. Both youth managers, Gareth Southgate of the Under 21s and Aidy Boothroyd of the Under 19s, have departe the England set up, believed to be through mutual consent. Both managers are yet to speak to the media.
It hasn't come as a shock, to many, they expected these changes as Beckham begins the changes behind the scenes whilst the squad return to club football for the next couple of months. Beckham stated in his first interview as England boss that he has big things planned and wanted to revolutionise English football and this is his first step to making these changes.
Gareth Southgate, a former Aston Villa and Middlesborough defender become a part of the England youth setup when he took charge of the under twenty one side in 2013 and have been with them since. Having limited success, its thought that Beckham wants to change all three managers at the same time, to allow them to all be on the same wavelength.
Aidy Boothroyd is a more surprising departure as he has only been part of the England set up since 2014, managing the England under twenty side and moving into the under nineteens. He will move back to club management, with a few teams already interested in his signature.
David Beckham will now undergo a search for two new managers and is believed to be carrying out the search himself as Greg Dyke, head of The FA has put his trust in him to provide the answers. It is not known yet as to who Beckham has in line for the job, but thought it will be revealed soon should he get his 'ideal candidates'.

Hodgson: No hard feelings following dismissal
Roy Hodgson has broke his silence three weeks after his dismissal from the England national team. Hodgson left the senior squad following his sides Quarter Final exit against eventual winners Germany in the European Championships this summer, winning just two of the five games they faced. Hodgson has now been replaced by David Beckham for a 'new look' England structure.
Hodgson knew the FA's expectations this summer and knew his job was on the line should they not reach the Final following recent failures in big competitions. And their early exit was the end of his reign, with his final game being the 2-0 defeat against Germany. Hodgson today spoke to BBC Sport explaining how he doesn't feel bitter about the outcome.
"I knew my job depended on how well we performed this summer and unfortunately it wasn't enough to save me this time around." Hodgson added "its been an incredible journey, watching so many players grow into key, valuable members of this squad and I wish all the players and David [Beckham] the best for the future.
Hodgson was then quizzed on Beckham. "I didn't know anything about the new manager, I'm glad its someone like David though, he's a very leveled headed man and his experience and heartbreak as a player will provide a vital backing point as a manager".
"I'm not bitter, nor am I annoyed at the situation, its football, it happens and we move on, the players move on, I move on." "I'm still unsure as to whats next for me, I'll try and sit down over the coming months to figure out whats best for me, for now, I'm enjoying the time.

Beckham looks to Gerrard and Lampard for youth team
David Beckham has today asked former fellow English midfielders Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard to become a part of the new England set up, as he begins to restructure the back room around himself following his appointment as head coach last month. It is thought both midfielders are currently considering a deal to become the youth team managers.
Both Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard are still playing their trade on the pitch with the pair as rivals on the pitch in the MLS. Gerrard who is playing for LA Galaxy and Lampard with New York City, are both currently considering an option to become managers of the Under 21s and under 19s respectively, this bringing a new lease of life into the England set up.
It is thought both players are likely to accept the roles and keep playing in the MLS for another season at least, they will come away from club football for friendlies and international games set for both the youth squads.

Lampard and Gerrard appointment confirmed
Today England fans have woken up to news that two more former England midfielders have joined David Beckham as he continues plans to turn around Englands misfortunes at big international competitions. Beckham, who was appointed manager over Hodgson last month, insisted he had big plans and changes for this England side, today we see the first step to what he calls a 'revolutionised England'.
Just a couple of days ago Beckham spoke with both Steven [Gerrard] and Frank [Lampard] regarding potential deals to become the youth managers at England following his short reign. It is believed both will still play for their respected MLS teams and just take leave whilst on international duty. Neither American club have spoke out regarding this deal as of yet.
Gerrard played one hundred and fourteen games for England, finding the net twenty one times and knows what its like to be just short of expectations in major tournaments. Having not won a tournament with England, nor a Premier League title with Liverpool when he spent twenty eight years there as a player, he'll be certain to be aiming for the top with the Under 21 team.
Steven [Gerrard]' first game in charge will be on the first of September with European u21' Championship qualifiers to play, his first stint in charge will see his young guns travel to San Marino (01.09.16) and then Hungary (05.09.2016). He'll then face a later two games near the end of the calendar year.
Meanwhile Lampard will take control of the under 19 team and knows what its like to win big trophies. He won three Premier League titles with Chelsea as well as a Champions League title to just mention a few of his achievements in his playing time at England. Frank began his career at West Ham and will know that you need to impress at the lower levels to make it in football, he'll be keen to see what the under nineteens can deliver.
Its Frank who will be first on show for the new England trio however as his England Under 19 side will kick off their campaign in just five days time. The 12th July will see the European U19 championships kick off, where his side are in a group with Spain, Croatia and Portugal as they try and impress. There are currently three friendlies planned for later in the calendar year, his first home showing expected to be against South Korea on the 5th September.

Lampard announces first Under 19 squad
Frank Lampard has today announced his first under nineteens squad since taking charge just a week ago of the England squad. Lampards 18 man squad was suggested to him by David Beckham and he is believed to have taken what was offered. There aren't too many 'surprises' to Lampard' eighteen man squad which includes Manchester United starlet Marcus Rashford.
Lampards first squad selection for this years tournament
There are a two new names in Lampards squad who are looking for their first international cap at youth level, these include, Marcus Edwards of Tottenham and Liverpools Joe Gomez, both will be looking to make an impact in front of both Lampard and Beckham who is expected to be at the games this summer.
Rashford was no surprise to the England team, having been very impressive at the tail end of the league season for Manchester United and the same can be said for Sheyi Ojo of Liverpool who had an impressive tail end of the season.
It will be a tough start for Lampards young lions though, as he heads to Germany for the competition. Spain on the opening day just a week into his reign will be tough opponents, he'll then face Croatia and Portugal, both who he is expected to triumph against.
Dan
England withstand attacking Spain
Frank Lampard has claimed his first point as England under nineteens manager as his side grabbed nil nil draw to kick off the European Championships in Germany. Up against the reigning champions Spain, England were on the back foot for most of it but Lampard' tactical set up ensured England weren't beaten and grabbed a vital point to pin hopes of progression out the group.
The young lions lined up in an attacking 4-2-3-1 formation as Lampard picked his first ever squad. Woodman had a very impressive game in between the sticks keeping out Spain. The four along the back saw Gomez win his first every youth cap as he paired up in centre back with Oxford. Armstrong was left to lead the front line as he had Rashford in behind him along with Brown and Ojo on the wings.
Spain had dominated the possession but couldn't find a way through England' strong back line, often shooting from distance and failing to hit the target. That being side, England didn't provide much going forward either with just three shots on target from their eleven. Spain were just as wasteful with just three on target also. The best chance for England fell to Ojo just outside the box, however Spain keeper Robert Sanchez tipping over.
The draw leaves England in third place in the group, following Portugal' opening day win.

Lampards Young Lions batter Croatia
England Under 19s picked up their first win of the European Championship this summer as they comfortably beat Croatia four nil. A dominant showing from Lampards young lions have all but secured a spot in the next round of the competition. Two goals before the break and two goals after saw a comfortably win secured to move England top of their group.
The three lions raced into a dominant showing however couldn't find the net until the forty second minute when Cook's shot was diverted the other side of the diving goalkeeper and into the net, embarrassing for Kovac the Croatian man. Armstrong then doubled Englands lead inside the box just before the break. Second half there was a goal for Izzy Brown before young Tottenham starlet Rankin-Costello netted off the bench to secure the big win.
A brave move by the recently appointed under nineteens manager saw Lampard stick with the squad selection he used against Spain to pick up a point. This time it worked though, with England coming away with all three points from three different goal scorers and an own goal. It is expected he'll rotate this squad for the final game.
The statistics make for better reading this time against Croatia as half of their shots were on target this time around and with four goals coming from the seven on target a good conversion rate. England ended up with fifty six percent of the possession and reduced Croatia to just five shots, one on target.
The win has sent England' young guns to the top of Group A with one game remaining. Spain are tied on points at the top of the table with their last game against pointless Croatia. England will face Portugal knowing a draw will be enough to see them through, however only a win will see them through at the top of the table.
Dan
England draw secures top spot
England Under 19s 1-1 drew with Portugal this evening proved to be enough to top Group A following Spain' slip up against Croatia. A Ben Sheaf penalty after just twenty two minutes proved to be enough to earn a point for England and send them into the Semi Finals.
The young lions were behind after just three minutes, with a heavy rotated side they were perhaps caught out, lack of match practice, as Gui went through for Portugal and put the underdogs ahead. However when Marco Andre appeared to clatter into James Bree in the box, the referee showed no hesitance at giving the penalty. Ben Sheaf stepped up comfortably to convert the slot kick and earn a draw after just twenty two minutes. Both sides could of gone on to win the game, however both keepers held on strong.
Lampard had rotated the squad ahead of the Portugal game, perhaps resting a few players for the Semi Final clash which he had seemed confident of reaching even before the game kicked off. England required a point so it was surprising to see so many changes. Costello started as did Edwards for his first ever start for the England under 19 side. Rashford took the front row.
The stats perhaps favored England in this tie whilst possession was fairly even over the ninety minutes, England went on to carve out the majority of chances however with hitting the target on just a third of these, goals were always going to be hard to come by. Portugal created just twenty chances, hitting the target with just four of these.
Confirmation of England topping the group following Spains draw with Croatia. The draw means Croatia go home bottom of the group but do take a point from the competition. Portugal crash out on four points whilst Spain and England head through to the Semi Finals, both finishing on five points, Englands goal difference sending them top.
In Group B Italy went on to top the group, picking up three wins from three so holders Spain are paired with them. We will face hosting nation Germany who went on to pick up six points from their three matches. All four teams will have their eyes set on the Final now.

Armstrong hatrick dumps out host Germany
Newcastles Adam Armstong produced a stunning display against European Championship host Germany as he struck a superb hatrick to help guide England under nineteens into the Final of this years competition. England went on to beat Germany four one, Lampard said it felt like 'revenge' following 'the goal that never was'.
A game which saw England looking for a win proved to be easier than expected. Adam Armstrong got England off to a flyer when he netted after just four minutes, pleasing boss Lampard greatly. England continued to pressure with a counter attacking look to them and it wasn't long until there was a second goal. Armstrong struck again to send them two nil up into the break.
Second half Englands dominance continued. Armstrong netted in the sixty ninth minute and two minutes later Ojo put the game well beyond doubt as he made it four nil. Germany struck one in the final minute but it was meerly a consolation goal as England had ran riot here.
A big game saw England line up with Woodman back in between the sticks following sitting out the Portugal game. Oxford missed the game due to an injury which saw Rankin-Costello given another starting appearance. Cook and Rossiter started in the middle of the park with hatrick hero Adam Armstrong at the top of the tree.
Once again stats show it was a very even game with Germany perhaps having the majority of possession. But it was England that made the most of the possession they had as they forced twelve shots, hitting the target with ten of those and scoring four of them. A very pleasing side for Frank Lampard.
Italy went on to make it four wins from four for them in the European under 19 championships as they strolled past holders Spain four goals to nil to set up an enticing Final with England in two days time. A very dominating look to this Italian side will have Frank Lampards men on full guard to get anything from that game.

Dominant England seal historic title
A late goal from substitute Izzy Brown was enough to secure an historic European Championship title for England Under nineteens tonight as they triumphed one nil against Italy. Italy were unbeaten in the competition up to the final, having won all four games to date. England didn't let that stand in their way.
It was late, but it was great for England as substitute Izzy Brown of Chelsea came on to seal the European U19 Championship title in the eighty second minute, a win they fully deserved judging by the stats. Its their first title since 1993 and Lampard has said he is very happy with the impact hes had on the team already.
England went through the competition unbeaten, picking up three wins and two draws. Along the way to the Final England beat Croatia and Germany whilst drawing with holders Spain and Portugal. The third win came in the Final, a one nil victory enough.
Oxford returned to the starting line up for England as he recovered from a slight muscle strain and sat out against Germany. Lookman started on the left with Solanke on the right. Rashford started up front with Edwards just in behind as hatrick hero Armstrong was set to sit on the bench.
The stats show just how dominant the counter attacking England side were that Frank Lampard had set out. England managed sixteen shots, reducing Italy to just five whilst we hit the target with seven of those. Fifty two percent possession saw England make the most of it.

Lampard delighted over winning start
Following his young England Under 19's side victories European Championship campaign this summer, Frank Lampard has said he is delighted with the winning start and has high hopes of a successful reign here in charge of the Under 19s. Its the first time we've heard much from Lampard since taking the job.
Lampard took charge of England Under 19s following Beckhams appointment to the senior squad, as he also brought in Steven Gerrard to the Under 21 side. The ex Chelsea midfielder had just a week in the job until he was thrown into international football, his first competitive fixtures as a manager.
The young three lions were drawn into a tough group containing holders Spain as well as a strong Portugal side and Croatia, the underdogs of the competition. But this didn't deter Frank as he picked up a point against Spain, all three against Croatia and then a final day draw against Portugal to top the group.
Topping the group proved to be worthwhile as the Semi Finals drew England with Germany, avoiding Italy who had won all three matches to date. And a superb four one victory against the Germans saw England fly into the Final, where they'd face Italy, who had beat Spain comfortably.
As England won the Final, one nil thanks to a late substitute goal from Izzy Brown, Lampard declared himself delighted with the start. "Its been a hectic couple of weeks, one minute I was set to play in New York, the next I was on a plane to Germany for the European u19 Championships and to come away with the trophy is a delightful moment for me".
"Its very early into my reign and I hope we can build on this, I know I'll be seeing plenty of players come and go through this squad, hopefully they see it as a starting block to the senior team."
"There is plenty more to come and I can't wait to continue. I'm not taking the plaudits for a 'super sub' as many have dubbed it, Izzy has played well all tournament, needed a rest, when he came on I told him to show me what you can do, he done that."
David Beckham is believed to be making an announcement on Frank Lampards instant success and Steven Gerrards appointment within the next couple of days.

Beckham sees bright Three Lions future
David Beckham is looking forward to the future of English football as a national side following Frank Lampards Under nineteen side securing the European Championships this summer. Despite himself not taking charge of a game as of yet, Beckham says the side have a bright future.
The European Championship win comes as a shock to the nation as Lampards young Lions were expected to make it out the group and not much further, but some battling displays against Germany and Italy in the Semis and Final respectively secured their first title for over twenty years.
Beckham has now declared how excited he is to get to work with a bright future looking bunch of footballers.
"I went to Germany to over watch the Under 19 European Championships, Frank asked me to come. Its exciting for him as it is me, he's the first of this 'revolutionised' England to have a game and an international tournament at that."
"I'm hoping myself and Steven [Gerrard] can continue in his footsteps and bring glory to the nation over the next few years, there is no reason why a nation of our stature aren't competing for major honors every year." He added "we're looking to put an end to the high expectations and poor reality that is becoming well known for in England."
"Frank, Steven and I are all still learning our new roles, learning the players we have here at our disposal. I know Frank was speaking about how bright the under 19s side looked already this summer, I can't wait to get stuck in now."
Beckham' first game in charge is an away game against Isreal in September.

Keown and Scholes reject England opportunity
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown and former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes have both rejected the chance to join David Beckham, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard at England as Beckham continues to revolutionise the English football association. This will be a small set back for David and his plans on the future of this team.
It is believed both former England players were offered assistant manager roles of the under twenty ones and under nineteens to back up Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard. This will leave Beckham searching for different men to bring in now, or he may stick with the two already in those roles. It will come as a bit of a blow but David will know he has plenty of time to get things sorted.
Neither Scholes or Keown have made a comment to the media as of yet.

Sheringham, Beardsley, Butt and Bridge Join Revolution
Nicky Butt, pictured above, is one of four new faces to the England camp as David Beckham continues to change the face of the English FA set up. Nicky Butt is joined by Peter Beardsley, Wayne Bridge and Teddy Sheringham as the more former greats to the game have joined Beckham with his plans of the future.
Butt will continue his current role as a coach of Manchester Uniteds youth team, whilst he will also be a coach for Frank Lampards under nineteen youth side, who have just been crowned European Champions following their successful campaign on the pitch this summer. Another new face to the under nineteens is Teddy Sheringham.
Teddy will come in as Frank Lampards new assistant manager following recent rejections of the job from Paul Scholes and Martin Keown. Sheringham will be out to prove himself as an assistant to back up Frank on his trek to eventually move into his role in the future.
Wayne Bridge joins the Under twenty ones set up, under Steven Gerrards management who is yet to take charge of a game like David [Beckham]. Wayne Bridge will act as a youth coach for the under twenty one side.
And finally, for now, fifty five year old, former English striker Peter Beardsley is currently the only new man for the senior squad which David Beckham is now running. Beardsley is coming in as a coach and will focus on the attacking side of things for England' senior men. It is thought he'll also oversee the training among the under twenty ones and under nineteens as well.

Paul Scholes backtracks on England opportunity
Following more big former England names joining the FA Set up as coaches, Paul Scholes has backtracked on the opportunity to join former team mate David Beckham, Gary Neville and recently appointed Nicky Butt and Teddy Sheringham. Following rejecting the assistant manager post, Paul Scholes is believed to have negotiated a coaching role with David Beckham over the last couple of hours.
Scholes is said to be delighted with the opportunity to continue progressing through a coaching career and with so many former team mates he sees this role as more fitting to his ability. Beckham has confirmed that the role will not conflict with Paul [Scholes] current running behind the scenes of Salford City with the class of 96.
Paul Scholes played a big part in the England team over a seven year span which lasted up until he called time on his international career back in 2004. Scholes broke into the England team in 1997 and went on to make sixty six appearances for England, scoring fourteen times. A big central midfielder for not only England but Manchester United too. The 'one man club' played for the Red Devils between 1991 and 2013 when he called time on his playing career.
